Fairytale Sail

Sail Date: May 2013
Destination: Bahamas
Embarkation: Port Canaveral

The sun was shining the air temps. perfect. Hovered at 77 the entire time. Embarking was a breeze. Our counter check-in took 5 minutes and then we waited 30 min. to go onboard. When we arrived at our room the luggage was waiting outside our door. Our room included a verandah. After a few minutes of exploring our room we were instructed to the muster station. Everything was so orderly, as always in the DISNEY WAY. Then we headed up to Cabana's , the amazing smorgasboard of food choices! We ate giant cold shrimp and stone crab. So many choices made your head spin. We had the 2nd dinner seating,so we had a ways to go. At this time the kids pool area was packed and the adult areas were mostly empty. Let me mention at this time that the Disney Dream is a stunning ship. Very classic and throwback decor, reflection of 40's elegance. Dinner that night was at the Enchanted Garden. Our next 2 nights assigned to The Royal
Palace. Our last night at Animators Dream. The menus were very More creative but I would rate the food at a solid 7.
Pirates Night was a hoot as many adults dressed up and the kids were adorable. There were fireworks that night and the kid's pool area was covered up as there was crazy dancing and lots of food and desserts at Cabana's buffet. Our day at Castaway Cay was memorable. We took the glass bottom boat tour for 35$ ea. for adults. A bit pricey . I would not do that again. The adult beach at Serenity Bay was great. There were plenty of chairs and umbrellas available and drink service too. Barbecue lunch close by was delicious. Salads, bread, fruits, drinks ,icecream and a variety of meat available.

Back on the ship we enjoyed the new movie Ironman. There are 2 Gourmet Coffee shops that we visited often. We did not go to any of the bars at night but did visit them just to see. Truly beautiful. My next cruise is already booked. If you do it onboard there is a 10%discount plus our onboard credit was 100$. Less

Cabin review: Disney Dream 7148A

With verandah. Very roomy. I loved the separate bathing and commode. So quiet at night. Room 7148A.

Port and Shore Excursions

Castaway Cay is just paradise. At a distance it doesn't look like much, however once you are docked it all comes to life. Many adventures to take part in. Even bike riding! We did the glass bottom boat tour. Quite pricey, 35$ per adult and not that interesting. Serenity Bay, the adult beach was gorgeous. Umbrellas and chairs for everyone and a delicious barbecue lunch in a shady spot, with salads, breads, drinks, fruit, cookies and icecream. Great day!

There were excursions available. Next time we will go over to Atlantis. There is a very full day available while docked in Nassau. The famed Straw Market is just awful. We walked around for about an hour then returned to the ship.
