Destination: Southern Caribbean
Embarkation: San Juan
The Ship: Embarkation was very smooth and we arrived very early without any trouble. Our flight into Puerto Rico was at 1:10p.m. and we were settled in our Aqua Class cabin by 2:00 p.m. The room was lovely and fresh fruit with a bottle of chilled champagne welcomed us. There was also fresh flowers on the table which was a nice touch.
The AC cabin was everything we read about. The bed pillows were comfortable and our steward Reggie was attentive to all the details down to the chocolates on the pillows.
We ate in BLU most of the week. We never had a negative experience; however the Sommelier was very busy and at times we were already on our courses before our wine had arrived. All in all a wonderful eating experience..Loved all the courses and especially the apple pie. Have to say we tried Qsine one night and the food left me with an awful stomach ache. The presentation was beautiful but felt the quality was lacking. We also dined in Normandie one night and More enjoyed the true tableside french cooking. The Lobster Thermidor was delicious as well as the Crepes Suzette..Not too be missed!
Entertainment was so-so..The comedienne was funny and we thought the Illusionist was ok.. Most of the evenings we were so tired from all of the activities we did during the day that we were in bed by 11.! We did manage to try the Martini Crush bar and had very good drinks there. The bartender put on a show not to be missed. Check this place out. You will not be disappointed.
We ordered room service almost every morning so that we would have coffee and a croissant, or danish etc. to start the morning before we went to port. It was always delivered at the time specified and we were politely reminded by a phone call minutes before arrival which was better than setting the alarm as we were going off the ship at every port for an excursion.
We utilized the exercise room almost every day and even did a cycle class that burned off all the calories from our amazing dinners.
I received a hair-cut and style at the Salon and wanted to thank Carlya for a great job! The staff was very attentive and caring.
St. Croix- Took the snorkeling excursion to Buck Island..Beautiful adventure..Lots of caverns and fish to see!
St. Kitts- Okay..this is not for the faint of heart..We did the Mt. Liaguima hike..3 hours up the mountain..2 hours down..Wonderful experience and the view is breathtaking..but be prepared to hike..almost vertical at times.
Dominica- We hired a private guide MARTIN ALEXANDER/EXODUS TOURS..He is the best! Showed us many sites..including the Emerald pool, Waitakabuli trail..and much more..We even sampled the local cuisine at a quaint restaurant.
Grenada-Yikes took the winding tour up to the plantation and the Grand Etang Forest ending with the tour of Fort Frederick..Could have missed this...
St. Thomas- Best day...We took the Ferry from Red Hook (very easy to get to by taxi $10.00pp) to St. John's..Very casual and less congested. Still great shopping areas..but we grabbed a scooter..also jeeps for rental right at the ferry dock, and travelled on our own..Very easy to find the bays, Cinnamon and Trunk being the most favorites..Lots a little beaches along the way that are great for snorkeling..Found a cool turtle beach bay and saw walking conch beneath the waters! Wonderful day!
Day at sea: Great sleeping in finally, and a wonderful brunch at the Cosmopolitan that should not be missed. Deck chairs were easily found and never waited in any long lines for the buffet.
All in all a wonderful experience. We would definitely Cruise with Celebrity again. Less
