We have just returned from sailing on the Tahitian Princess, 10/10/03-10/20/03 and it was definitely memorable. Tahiti is beautiful and exotic, the waters more shades of blue than can be described and its people delightfully enjoyable. The food and service on the Tahitian Princess was definitely 5 star all the way. The crew were always available while maintaining a pleasant attitude. Each show was different and thoroughly entertaining. The musicals were extremely well done, fast paced with beautiful costuming. A young singer with an outstanding voice, named Phillipa, regaled us on two of the evenings.
We had a mini suite with balcony, the room and storage areas spacious however the balcony was miniscule. We did not receive the initial supply of mini liquor bottles mentioned in your past reviews. The only downside to our entire holiday was that we were booked by Princess on their charter air - Omni - to reach Papeete. Since Princess does everything else so well, it was a great disappointment to begin our air journey by being in such cramped quarters. Omni's planes are DC 10's with 10 seats across, 3, 4, & 3. The movie monitors for the rear of the plane were broken, making the 8 1/2 hour flight seem even longer. The crew tried hard but it was extremely difficult to enjoy eating when you couldn't move your arms without disturbing your seatmates. Our return flight however was a pleasant surprise as we flew Air Tahiti Nui, a beautifully spacious plane with monitors for each seat, only 8 seats across and real food. Those returning on Omni had to go to the airport during the day to check in their luggage and then return to the ship to await the late evening flight. Air Tahiti Nui did not require us to do go through that procedure. I would definitely recommend cruising with the Tahitian Princess, the caveat emptor being to pay the extra flight fee and fly any airline except Omni.
