Sail Date: Jan 2000

We sailed on Carnival Triumph on March 4th to the 11th of this year. This was our honeymoon getaway for me and my husband.

The first thing we did was book our Swim with the dolphin excursion but to our surprise, we didn't get to swim with them. We got to FLOAT with them. At the price of $165 each, we expected a lot more. We were so disappointed, the minute we got on board, we reported this to the information desk. The lady there told us to go to the excursion desk where we were told that the brochure says exactly what we got. But the person who sold us the excursion never explained to us what the experience would be like, that we wouldn't actually SWIM with the dolphins. We truly feel cheated and we are deeply disappointed by the service we got on the ship. For $330, we certainly didn't get what we should have gotten. We had maybe 20 minutes in the water, were told by our guide to float side by side and watch our dolphin do his thing. We could have done the same thing with the touch encounter for half the money. We got to touch it as it swam by and he kissed us on the cheek. That's all the contact we had with the dolphin. Looking at the people on the other side, the only difference was they didn't have life jackets, they had water up to their waste and they touched the dolphins even more than we did. I cannot stress enough how this day which was two days before the end of our cruise put a huge damper on the whole week. When we got home, instead of telling our friends and family how great it was, all we could think about was how we got ripped off in Jamaica but also how the staff at Carnival didn't help us after the fact.

The other thing about the ship specifically is that it was not very clean. We saw a bug by the coffee machine one morning. We even took a picture of it. Pretty disgusting. The 24-hour ice cream machine, well most of the time it was out of ice cream. They obviously didn't care to refill it on a regular basis. Pop, to our surprise, was not available unless you BOUGHT it through the bars. They had juice, but no pop.
