This time last week I was on the Pride of America. This is my third cruise with NCL. I had read the reviews, both pro and con, and was concerned what I would find once on board.
I am a reasonable, objective person so therefore, I will be straightforward with "my" review. This is not a perfect cruise. There are some problems. There seemed to be a lack of communication between everyone and in every department. The ship was filled to capacity but the ship is woefully understaffed, especially in the dining rooms. Most of the staff on board is just simply overwhelmed with workload.
My husband and I are fans of Freestyle. However, with that option comes the fact that this is an informal cruise. The cuisine is not gourmet; it is passable at best. The service is adequate at best. All the dining options are always crowded all the time, that's just the way it is with Freestyle. There are always a lot of children, teenagers, handicapped, elderly, informed, and obese passengers with Freestyle. For the most part, it is chaos. If you want more formal and especially more personal attention, choose Crystal or Celebrity. However, if you want the freedom to come and go as you please, choose what you want to eat when you want to eat and in the atmosphere you want, then you will be happier with Freestyle.
