Pre-Christmas relaxation

Sail Date: December 2012
Destination: Western Caribbean
Embarkation: Miami

I received an email announcing last-minute bargains. Despite an email notice advising that sailing would be delayed an hour for a USCG inspection, boarding was quick and embarkation was a breeze. Cabins were ready almost immediately. The staff and crew were most friendly, helpful, and supportive.

It seems that some information was not accurately transferred to the ship from the shore (cabin configuration, special needs requirements, etc.), but after double-checking with our cabin attendant everything was quickly remedied.

The Seaside Cafe (buffet) was great, never crowded when we were there, with short, fast-moving lines. We did not visit any of the specialty restaurants, but had early seating for the San Marco Restaurant (main dining room) and thoroughly enjoyed it. I don't think that the meal selections and service could be much better. Additionally, we were seated with two other great couples and probably had the best waiter and assistant waiter on More board.

Most of the shows in the Celebrity Theater were great. I was impressed with the juggler, and the show entertainers were certainly a talented and hard-working team. We were fortunate to have the Top Flight quartet on board, and it was always nice to see and listen to the talented performers in the various lounges.

This was a well-deserved, relaxing, get-away from the hustle of the holidays (although we did get home in time to enjoy Christmas with family). Less

Cabin review: Celebrity Constellation Oceanview Stateroom Plaza Deck (3) 2049

Very comfortable cabin for this very smooth Caribbean sailing. We must have had a ship full of extremely considerate passengers because the hall noise was non-existent. It's configuration was okay although we would prefer the table and couch/chair to be in front of the window instead of having the head of the bed at the window. Plenty of closet and drawer space. The fridge wasn't as cool as I think it should be. Needs a thorough cleaning as there was stains and crud in the corners of the floor in the toilet/shower. (I think this ship is scheduled for dry dock early next year.)

Port and Shore Excursions

We were the only ship in port, and the pier area with the gift shops and vendors were not crowded We booked the Heartbeat of Jamaica excursion on board. Enjoyed the papaya and sugar cane plantation. Very informative

Interesting rock formations, crowded gift shop, but welcome bathroom break.

Great way to see coral, fish, ship wrecks, etc., without getting wet. Don't sit in the back where the engine noise drowns out the tour guide's narration.

Turtle Farm

Was able to see sea turtles at all of their various stages. Very clean facility and not too crowded during our visit. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and informative.
