NCL Sun Nov 14-15, 2012

Sail Date: November 2012
Destination: Southern Caribbean
Embarkation: Miami

Sailed on Sun in Mar, 2012 out of Pt Canaveral & loved it! This time out of Miami & liked the cruise/ship, but HATE PORT OF MIAMI! Drove to Hyatt Place & left vehicle...nice hotel & free parking & free shuttle TO port ($12 p/p on return -more later!) Got to ship & were in room w/in 60 minutes of arrival at port! (we were only ship in Port - on a Wed.) Room was OK (standard balcony.)

Had not been to 4 of 5 ports, which was major reason for booking. Booked the "3 specialty restaurants" deal. Italian was OK for me (wife did NOT like!); French was very good; & the Steak was Great, as usual!

Took several excursions....if u don't like street vendors, beggars, etc., DO NOT get off the ship in Cartagena! They are everywhere! Had good to great times there anyway....same in Aruba, Curacao, St. Maarten, & St. Thomas.

Crew not quite as good as March trip (new Captain...only saw at the Latitudes "stuff," unlike previous Capt, who we saw every day!) Saw ALL top More Officers EVERY day, which is exceptional...none were afraid to pick up stuff on the floor, bus tables, etc. Great bar waiters & restaurant staff. Room steward was fantastic, but couldn't control the water on balcony....couldn't use 75% of the time on an 11 day trip! He used a squegee constantly, but a stuck drain somewhere behind us would just load it back up again....might as well had an inside or oceanview! Less

Cabin review: Norwegian Sun Oceanview Stateroom with Balcony Pool Deck 10260

Our balcony was toward the rear (aft) of the ship & had a "stopped drain" somewhere behind us (starboard side)....had up to 1" of water on balcony 75% of the ENTIRE cruise! Room steward was heroic.....trying to "squegee" off water 3-4-5 times a day, to no avail. Couldn't/didn't use most of the time...really was unacceptable.

Island Tour

did the See & Sea tour (not listed above???) good tour w/a good guide. guess only comment would be that the semi-sub should NOT be recommended for LARGE people or anyone w/any type of claustrophobia!

Picked up & dropped off right at Ship....great venues....street vendors were only problem & she dealt w/them!

Trolley Tour

Great, quick tour, w/a great guide! lots of info & opportunities for pic's etc. Our main idea here (after 2 ea 4+ hour tours the first 2 stops) was something interesting & quick.

lots of places not open....no excursions....spent most of time on the ship.

Lots of places closed on arrival. Wife loved "Mr Tablecloth" downtown (Kathryn Green - Mgr - Wonderful!) One suggestion: have better "info" re: open taxi's to downtown....we boarded TWO such taxi's that turned out to be people waiting for excursions!!! No signs, etc. Embarassed my wife! (but not me!) Very hot! $12/per person too expensive for the Butterfly place (which I wanted to see!)...plus no photo's except those that u have to pay for!
