We came to Quebec City the night before the cruise by train. Unfortunately our hotel did not have a reservation for us so after a lot of calling around we ended up spending the night at the Chateau Frontenac at double what we intended to pay.
The next day we boarded the ship around noon which took about 1/2 hour & seemed a little disorganized. We were able to go to our cabins right away.
We really liked the decor of our inside cabin & the size of the shower. We met our steward Rainhard who called us by name & was super the whole week, best steward I've had on any ship. He made us a lot of different towel animals.
We enjoyed dining at the Venetian & Aqua except for the long waits. The lobster on the return from Boston was really nice, a whole fresh one not just a tail. The Chef's Table was a fantastic experience. We ended up having room service breakfast quite a bit since we had to meet early for most of the 8 shore excursions we'd booked through NCL. We also ate at the buffet a few times mostly for breakfast or lunch.
The entertainment on the Dawn was really great. We loved the piano player Ariel, the singers Jose & Patti & the shows. The comedians were funny & the game shows entertaining. The CD Ken Mills & his staff were very visible & friendly. I'd never seen "Deal or No Deal"played on a ship & that was fun too at only $19.99. The Bingo was very expensive starting at $39! One thing I must say is the theatre seats are very bad with hardly any leg room so we tried to sit on the couch type seating on deck 7.
The ports were interesting & the ship's tours fine,I find how good depends on the guide you get & most were very good.We were really welcomed at La Baie Quebec which is a good place to take their HOHO bus to see more of the countryside & some museums. It was $15 & offered 2 routes one 60 minutes, the other 75. Sometimes we were welcomed back to the ship with bouillion, soup or hot chocolate, sometimes with dancers, very nice & fun.
We had purchases slot play coupons so used that up in the casino & a bit more money too. I found the casino to be smoky but still stayed for a bit. My friend did better than me altho' neither of us spend much.
NCL put on a great meet 'n greet with the captain & others officers attending. It's always nice to meet people from the roll call you've been chatting with before the cruise.
The photographers were really nice & friendly & there were lots of photo opportunities.
We were lucky to have nice weather & pretty calm seas too. This was a great cruise & we really enjoyed it.
