Arriving at the ship and checking in was nothing short of disorganized and herdlike--as in they were herding us like cows without appropriate direction or courtesy. After about an hour or so just of being bustled around, we finally boarded. Our bags arrived outside of our door a good 2 hours after boarding. Our dinner in the Crystal dining room was delicious and our wait staff was excellent. We had a few cocktails in the Ocean Breeze lounge where the staff was also very nice and warm.
The next day, because of weather, the majority of the cruise excursions were cancelled. We explored Lucaya as thoroughly as possible and ended back on the ship (due to the weather) around noon. We went back to our cabin to freshen up and noticed that our room was extraordinarily hot and that had not been cleaned. We called the appropriate numbers for each issue. They answered but never came. We did this cat and mouse thing three times until someone finally came to our aid. By this time, we were settled in the room awaiting a spa appointment and were not ready to vacate so they could clean. We asked them to come back at three when we would be out of the cabin for which the response was "everyone will be on break then". Exasperated I said they could come back whenever they wanted to, and the man informed us that 530 would be the best time for THEM! We thoroughly enjoyed our spa treatments and the staff there, and even sandbagged getting ready for dinner so we could be out of the room during the 5 o'clock hour. We came back to a still unclean room! We just went to dinner and came back to made beds...trash full, trash on the floor, etc.
I cannot honestly critique the onboard entertainment because we did not go to any. We were not provided with a itinerary of any sort; they would just announce 10 minutes prior to events that they were happening. Inconvenient.
The last morning on the ship as we were readying to disembark, my traveling buddy began itching profusely. Upon inspection, I noticed distinct bite marks all over her body. I further inspected underneath her mattress which definitely had some kind of black residue/insect remains on it!!! Perhaps here I should add that we are both in the medical profession and have ample experience assessing this kind of situation. We packed our things and got down to the customer service desks. We approached calmly and were met with a flurry of unhelpful "service" personnel. After being made to wait for twenty minutes to actually speak with management, we were summoned into some self-important, white uniform wearing man's office. He was completely condescending and unapologetic, and he basically just repeated our grievances to us like we were crazy and smugly asked, " What do you expect from us?". To this I answered, "Obviously, too much. I ask for a clean, bugless room." At this time, it was very apparent that he had no interest or intention in rectifying the situation so we excused ourselves and hightailed it to customs so we could go home!
I am going to continue to call customer service until someone at least apologizes to us (Customer Service 101). DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT GO WITH THIS CRUISE LINE.
