Ship Facts: Queen Victoria Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Queen Victoria Deck Plans
5* Queen Victoria - Maderia and the Canaries
Why do people still use airports? The service offered by the Southampton terminal is second to none. Car collected, luggage whisked away, friendly terminal staff and on board within 30 minutes - beats airport queues any day.

It was like coming home - we had been on QE last year and the QV is a similar size and layout.

Superb quality fittings even though QV is now the 'oldest' ship in the fleet following QM2 refit. They had a torrid time on the way back from New York on the cruise before ours and lost quite oa lot of the crockery and there were a few parts of the ship showing signs of distress but overall the experience was superb.

Britannia restaurant was its usual superb standard an must give thanks to Mark Olroyd and his kitchen staff for providing quality food and excellent menus.

Chart Room and Cafe Corinthea became our second homes - superb service in wonderful surroundings - thank you Bianca.

Stateroom was its usual high standard - clean, comfortable bed, quiet surroundings (deck 4)and brilliant service from the domestic team.

On board facilities matched our expectations - some days there was too much available. Must recommend the Martini Mixology (but be prepared to be a bit 'squiffy' afterwards!) and the Veuve Clicot afternoon tea - both are an experience not to be missed.

Only downside was Royal Court - why do Cunard insist on putting on staid performances from their own team? They hid their best assets until the last night when they dragged in the singer from the Queens Ballroom - he held the stage magnificently. And the theme of a Simon and Garfunkel tribute saw the largest audience of the cruise. But the Victoriana night - oh dear!!

Some good guests though - violinist, comedian, singer and the Macdonald Brothers (who - came 4th behind Leona Lewis in X Factor 2006) - all good and a relief from the on-board entertainment.

Best kept secret was the pianist in the Commodore Club - humorous and talented.

Weather and trip were excellent - how can they dock a ship of this size without waking us all up I have no idea - it was always a surprise to open the curtains and find we had arrived.

Overall would give this a really high score and am already planning my next Cunard cruise.
