We loved this cruise.
First some information about why we did this cruise. My wife always wanted to cruise and to go to Alaska, while I was very skeptical of cruises in general. As
a long haul plane/car/bus/train/ferry/backpack traveler I thought a cruise would be too boring, but she chose the one way Northbound which would sail on 5/27/2018 and I wanted to try the experience after all. ...
This cruise was a great value for the money. The food was always good, although I won't say it was ever amazing. The cabin stewards were fantastic. All the entertainers were really talented.
The clients were mostly retired people, although we did see some families. This was definitely not a party ship.
There were not a lot of extra things going on during the cruise, and usually the ...
The stateroom had a small we could not get rid off...finally found mold on shower curtain. Mirrors in staterooms were old and needed replacing. Dirt in corners remained throughout cruise. They were no activities for young adults..everything geared toward old retired crowd. All talks and presentaions geared to selling instead of onformation. Tv in state rooms did not work well....they were ancient. ...
We did the cruise tour. This was the first time I did the cruise tour. The tour was before the cruise. The boarding pass has good information as to how the luggage is going to be handled.
Hotel check in at Anchorage was smooth and the agents there was helpful. Check in at Denali was easy. But I found the agents there were very unorganized and most of the time we didn't even know what was going ...
I chose this cruise because it was the only cruise to go to glacier bay. I felt the ship was classic. Perfect size to not get lost and interact with others. Our cabin and bathroom was larger than other ships. The specialty dining in pinnacle and the Italian were extraordinary. The dining room and vista lounge food was very good and service excellent. We had a beverage package which was good but ...
I have wanted to take an Alaska cruise vacation for at least 25 years! Finally, we did it, and somehow, it exceeded my extremely high expectations! I spent a lot of time on CC, with the veterans and experts assisting me in choosing the "right" one for our family. It paid off, thank you CC family! We absolutely loved the ship and itinerary, we chose wisely!! This was our first time in Alaska and ...
Hope you will find this information helpful in planning your Alaska visit. This was our (wife and self)14th cruise over many years, with 5 cruise lines, and yes we did enjoy it despite some rocky seas on Sunday while in the open ocean prior to entering protected waters near Juneau. If you are prone to seasickness I would suggest departing from Vancouver via the "inside passage".
We flew in ...
Our first cruise with HAL, although have previously cruised with others in Europe. The ship was first class, wonderful decor, good condition, fantastic crew. Stateroom was on deck 7 (Rotterdam) and our steward Nissan was brilliant. Room was everything you would expect. We dined across the ship in the MDR, which we thought was very good, Canalet which was excellent, Pinacle Grill was as expected ...
Holland America is amazing. Ship was in great shape and spotless. All crew members were the most helpful, kind, and professional from the service desk to the cleaning crew.
Explorations café staff knew my name after the second day, and it only took my favorite bartender one day (thanks Angelo). Must do the bar crawl, loads of fun! My cabin staff (Anon & Sri) were the best. Never wanted for ...
Having been on numerous cruises, we thought we knew what to expect for our first cruise with Holland America. We had been on 3 prior Alaska cruises (Celebrity, Princess, and Royal Caribbean) and knew Alaska cruises have very little nightlife and more multigenerational families. Overall, the Eurodam exceeded our expectations.
We arrived in Seattle two days early and rented car. On cruise day, we ...
