This is my fifth Celebrity cruise in the last two years. Won't be going back on Summit again.
The negative:
Food in the OceanView Cafe for lunch and dinner was never hot and always warm. Breakfast was fine.
3 varieties of Lettuce (spinach, mixed greens, and green leaf) were not refrigerated and warm. They are just sitting in a large bowl next to the salad condiments. I like my lettuce ...
Celebrity Cruise line has dropped from a premier cruise line to just average. The food is so poor that I thought I was eating cafeteria food. The cruise line wants you to eat at the specialty dining, I refuse to go this route, So I will refuse to sail Celebrity. I have sailed on the Summit several times, with the refurbishment they made it a terrible ship. The main dining room is so cramped you ...
My husband and I chose this cruise mainly for the ports. Both embarkation and disembarkation went smoothly. The ship is beautifully refurbished and our inside cabin was spacious and always kept clean by the cabin stewards. We ate breakfast and lunch in the Oceanview Café and dinners at the Cosmopolitan. The food in the Oceanview Café was ok, not great. The fruit selection never varied - 3 melons ...
While we were touring the South Pacific in January on the Aranui 5, cargo/passenger ship, I spotted a cruise with Celebrity called, “Sail Away and Beyond.” We had sailed with Celebrity many years ago in the Western Caribbean and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience so we were tempted to book the cruise. The cruise started in Newark, New Jersey, sailed up the coast to Rhode Island, Portland, Bar ...
Nice vacation with my parents and sister. Our parents are in their 60's and we are in our 20's. We live in philadelphia, so we love departing from bayonne only 1 1/2 hour drive.
Easy embarkation, they only had 2 security lines open during peak boarding time at noon. We did have to wait in about a 15-20 minutes line. I guess they only use all the security stations for larger ships.
Ship was ...
This cruise solidified for me and my family that we will not be traveling on Celebrity Cruises until they undergo another change in direction. Celebrity's standards have nosedived; I have a hard time classifying them as a "premium" cruise line alongside the likes of Princess and Holland American. I can't help but feel that Celebrity has lost track of their actual customer base. It seems that they ...
We live in CT and drove down the day before to stay at the HIE on Tonelle Ave in Jersey City. I would not recommend this hotel as it was difficult to locate and in a very industrial area. But in fairness, it was clean and our sleep quality was excellent.
OVERALL
We have not sailed Celebrity since 2000, although we have been on 17 cruises in total. This cruise did not live up to our fond ...
We sailed on the Summit (about a year ago), the appearance/maintenance of the ship wasn't that good, but the crew and food preparation was excellent. Now after millions of dollars of upgrades, the ship almost looks like the Edge. We paid extra for Aqua Class, because we wanted fine dining, any time dining, and no waiting (like you have to do with Select Dining). Celebrity added additional rooms to ...
I must say that Bermuda was beyond beautiful and the weather was perfect. The ships refurbishing is really nice. The cabin colors were perfect. The shower is a little small and the grab bar is not in a great place. Lots of banging into it while showering. The crew was amazing not one complaint. The wine master Sedat went above and beyond to keep us supplied in great wines. Did the chefs table ...
No flights necessary, big plus, love Bermuda and Bar Harbor although temperature spread was alarming. Low 80`s in Bermuda and mid 40`s in Maine.
Coming from Virginia, the southern approach allowed us to take a room on Staten Island's Hilton Garden Inn, included parking and shuttle service to the ship and back. EZPZ, less traffic.
Embarkation was a snap at 11:30 am and the new policy of "drop ...
