We were so disappointed with HAL, that we will not sail with them again. It was a 30 day cruise (the 16 Day Cruise listed here plus a 14 day cruise attached). This was our 4th cruise with them and prior to this, we couldn't say enough good things about them. This time, it was awful. There were many issues with the food, the entertainment, issues with our stateroom, rude behavior by staff (not the ...
We purchased a Neptune suite in the rear corner, so we had good all-round views and a large veranda. The only thing that was good about this expensive cruise were the workers on board. Very good people.
Cabin - Large but many issues listed below.
Food - Good at start but got worse over the trip. The specialty restaurants were much better than the public ones.
Entertainment - Similar all ...
The mainstage performances were the worst that I had in my 10+ cruise experiences. There were all male performers for the entire trip with very low quality. Obviously, the ship chose to save the cost of using low profile performers. The cruise entertainment director did a very poor job. Also, my first time use luggage case was damaged in the transport from the room to the dock. The food ...
This was the worst service I’d ever experienced on a ship. They didn’t seem to have enough crew for sailing at full capacity.
Food in the main dining room was quite pedestrian, with emphasis on inexpensive foods such as chicken and pasta. Portions were consistently small. Traditional sides such as garden salad and baked potato were not available. There were even fewer menu choices on the ...
We chose because of the Panama Canal. The cruise was good; the weather was fabulous. It's always nice to sit on the verandah and enjoy the ocean. Unfortunately, between the noisy room, the 8-9 choices on the TV (with no guide), the substandard internet and predictable food (after 5 days, I didn't know what to eat), we were very disappointed. The hamburgers were fabulous, but how many days in a row ...
Chose the cruise because of the advertised itinerary. HOWEVER, port times were on the average 3 hours shorter than stated in sales brochures. Four ports were on holiday or Sunday-nothing was open, and experiences were limited. Worst--Cherbourg, France docked on Sunday no rental cars were available all tours had been booked before we purchased the cruise, So my plans to visit the DDay beaches ...
My wife and I thought Holland America was a step above and tried the Panama cruise. First the ship is in disrepair ie: broken windows, window seal deteriorated causing windows to fog in main dining room, burnt out bulbs throughout especially at the elevators and Old wooden deck chairs on deck three of which 50 percent were broken. Attitude of the Hotel manager was not his problem. Staff throughout ...
10 day Panama Canal cruise
Good:
- Housekeeping services. Cordial and kept the room clean and neat. Every time we came back to the room, the bed was made. Every evening they left a nice towel animal.
- Ice cream. The ice cream staff is very friendly, and they offer a good selection of ice creams and toppings.
- French Fries. They are crispy and freshly cooked. Sadly, this was the ...
We chose this Panama Canal cruise because it traversed the "Old Gatun Locks" and were able to get an aft balcony cabin. Here is our honest review:

10 Day Sunfarer Cruise
Zuiderdam, Holland America Line
January 7 to 17, 2018
EMBARKATION: Well organized. After waiting in line, there are plenty of seats to await being called to embark. Total process about 1 ½ hours. ...
We heard that holland was the finest cruise line with the best destinations
Room staff were excellent!
Food quality was good, but slightly on the exquisite side, that being said it was presented extremely poor, cold food was served hot and hot food was served cold, wait staffed in fine dining was short on staff causing poor service, I don’t blame servers I blame mgt. several nights at dinner ...
