We've cruised Royal Carib, Princess, Norwegian, and Carnival in the past. I would put say that the Zuiderdam was better than Carnival and Norwegian, the same as Royal Caribbean, but not quite as nice as princess. We were a party of 6 with 2 rooms. 8111 and 1035. 3 middle aged adults and 3 in their 20s.
The good: The ports were excellent. Not overcrowded and full days at each port. We didn't ...
We did two seven day cruises back to back on the Zuiderdam, coming back to Fort Lauderdale in between. We like Holland America because of the extra large verandas and the fact that their ships aren’t overwhelming. Big enough to offer enough to do but not so big we feel lost in crowds.
We also signed on with Holland America in part because of their offering for America’s Test Kitchen. We ...
We chose this cruise because of timing as we wanted to cruise in April. We were a little worried about cruising with Holland American because of their reputation of being geared toward a much older crowd then we were used to. Yes the average age was much older, but don't let that deter you as the cruise was excellent.
Accommodation:
We had a balcony room on the 10th deck. The room was ...
This is about our 12th cruise, we previously cruised on Carnival and Disney, but mostly with Royal Caribbean. We had just tried Disney in 2018 but found that their experience just did not warrant their more expensive pricing. We cruised many times on Royal and consider the Allure our "home" ship. But nothing on Royal really appealed to us, so we decided to branch out.
We were celebrating ...
We arrived in Florida amid a flood of other cruisers. Definitely not accustomed to thousands of other confused people charging 0r standing around. We had finally located our luggage at a different.station, other than on the banner. At least Four cruise ships were departing on the same day..Holiday Inn at hollywood had a shuttle waiting for it and Candlewood hotel, we loaded up..Dispite them ...
Panama Canal was the reason we chose this cruise....I found it very acceptable for an older ship....We stayed in an outside cabin...of course, smaller cabin but was sufficient...room stewards were very good as were our dining room waiters...Food was very good..the entertainment in BB Kings lounge and Billboard Lounge was absolutely wonderful...Now the negative .....we took a shore excursion in ...
Our trip was a 10 day Caribbean cruise to Half Moon Cay, Curacao, Aruba, Puerto Limon and of course the Panama Canal. We had always heard about the Canal from other cruisers and was great to finally see it for ourselves. This was a first cruise for both of us. We drove to Fort Lauderdale the day of departure after staying with family in Florida. Embarkation was very fast and organized and we were ...
As a three-star mariner with Holland America, I have enjoyed many of their ships over the years. The latest improvements did away with the wonderful library and great coffee bar. Explorations Café is now up on deck 10, with nice places to sit, but no books to browse. The "passenger exchange books" shelf had a dozen or so books in foreign languages, but none in English until I left a few had ...
This was my third HAL cruise in the past 3 years. Overall, I enjoyed it, but there were some serious flaws, and some expected impressive wins.
SHIP- This is an older vessel, I was surprised by how some things were quite shabby especially since it was in dry dock recently. The wooden railings were very worn, the carpets were tattered and showing wear in the hallways especially. While onboard ...
Assigned to cabin 1029 on the Main Level of the Holland America Line (HAL) ms Zuiderdam, I had only a single flight of stairs from the boarding level (A) to climb. Picking the port side, I found myself walking past even-numbered rooms as I walked to the bow. A short young man popped out of an inside room to ask if I needed assistance, and I replied I was doing a tour, as I was on the wrong side. ...
