We were so disappointed with HAL, that we will not sail with them again. It was a 30 day cruise (the 16 Day Cruise listed here plus a 14 day cruise attached). This was our 4th cruise with them and prior to this, we couldn't say enough good things about them. This time, it was awful. There were many issues with the food, the entertainment, issues with our stateroom, rude behavior by staff (not the ...
Chose the cruise because of the advertised itinerary. HOWEVER, port times were on the average 3 hours shorter than stated in sales brochures. Four ports were on holiday or Sunday-nothing was open, and experiences were limited. Worst--Cherbourg, France docked on Sunday no rental cars were available all tours had been booked before we purchased the cruise, So my plans to visit the DDay beaches ...
we did in fact enjoy our vacation in spite of the condition of the ship. We were aware of the age of this ship but shocked at the appearance. We have been on many cruises on many different lines but not prepared for this. Dirty and stained lounge cushions on the Promenade Deck, pitted and rusty tables at the back pool and badly chipped and dented cocktail tables in the Crow's Next Lounge (inside ...
First I would like to say that every single staff person, whether in the restaurants, stateroom steward or anyone doing the myriad of jobs on the ship were exemplary. These people work so hard and always have a smile and are ready to help you in anyway possible. I enjoyed all the performers that were on board and there were several guest performers that were absolutely amazing.
Unfortunately ...
My wife and I chose this cruise based on Holland America's reputation for excellence and because of the ports we would be visiting and the excursions available. We explored Copenhagen prior to embarking and particularly enjoyed Tivoli Gardens. Both embarkation and disembarkation were handled very smoothly. Flex dining in the Vista Restaurant was well done at all meals. Our balcony room overlooked ...
We were a loyal HAL customers. Until now. This 12 day Baltic cruise on Zuiderdam turned our opinion of the HAL upside-down. On second day, we wake up by horrible noise - outside of our stateroom ship’s maintenance crew were scrubbing the rust of the life boat holders. The noise were so intensive that we can’t stay in the room. After I complained to the front desk, they told me that nothing could ...
We are in our seventies and used to traveling. We pay for first class and expect good service, but we are not demanding. We are pretty easy-going...but
This was about our fourteenth cruise. For ten of the twelve days we had NO HOT WATER...for three of the days our toilet didn't work. During one morning the maintenance crew was working on the pipes outside our suite, and we listened to banging ...
We chose HAL as we has never cruised with them before. We thought we would try a different cruise line as we have only ever cruised with Princess. A big mistake! What a disappointment! The zuiderdam is in the worst condition that we have ever experienced.
Our first cabin 6072 had wooden wedges inbetween the wall and the ceiling to try to stop the creaking in the ceiling. To no avail....hence ...
From an experienced cruise traveler: STAY AWAY FROM THIS CRUISE LINE
Worst cruise ever.
The ship was being repaired while sailing. Huge amount of noise. Debris falling on the balcony. Top deck not accessible.
Any-time dining restaurant: Running out of food items. Running out of WATER!! Very limited service hours. Scarce number of table attendants. Not enough tables for the number ...
We gave ourselves this cruise as a 25th anniversary present. We have sailed on several cruise lines including HAL, our last cruise was great this one was the worst ship I have ever cruised on including those of my navy career. We embarked about 1:00 pm and once we got situated we went up to the Lido deck for a snack, there was water everywhere and towels were being used to mop it up. We should ...
