We have just returned from the 11 day cruise from the Panama Canal. We were up graded to deck six with the balcony. The ship it self needs to be put away for remodel. The way the rooms are set up there is no room for storage. If you open the closet you can not get in the bathroom. The furniture is so old I thought it belong to my grandmother.the sleeper sofa and chair should be given to good will. ...
A very Poor experience with my first trip on Holland. I have cruised many times on other ships including Carnival, NCL, Princess and Disney and this by far was the worst experience. I will list the problems because there were so many:
1. We were promised a shipboard credit when we made the reservations and did not receive it.
2. We spent more than 6 hours (multiple visits to the shipboard front ...
We had never cruised with HAL, and did not know what to expect as Celebrity was always our 1st choice but did not have this particular itenerary. .
The ship was elegant and the service was slow compared to Celebrity, but then we learned HAL does not interfere with your privacy and allows you to relax rather than constantly interupt your peace and quiet.
Nice room, luggage fit nicely under bed. ...
We were on the 13 October sailing to the Panama Canal. This was our 39th cruise and our 5th with HAL> We had not sailed HAL for 10 years but decided that the 10 night Ft Lauderdale round trip was the ideal itinerary as we both work full time.
Embarkation was painful. Took us on ehour from the time we were called to get in line until we checked in.
Muster Drilol - Absolutely terrible. There were ...
My friend and I sailed on this ship for the first time on October 18. I have been on 30 cruises and my friend on 25. This was the worst. Holland has such a good reputation but not for this ship.
Embarcation & debarcation were a nightmare. We needed wheelchair assistance. It was a joke. I did a lot of loud talking to get something done.
The handicapped cabin would not have accomodated a ...
Have cruised on two other Holland ships, before Carnival took over, with no issues. Things have defintely changed for the worse.
This ship has so many issues, its hard to know where to start.
Cruise was to Panama in October. We were on the 8th floor, back of ship, balcony, right in the very middle. Perfect room for going through the canal. GREAT view! The worst room however, when it came to air ...
We are equal opportunity cruisers sailing many cruise lines, ship size, etc. that said we have also always enjoyed the overall excellence of Holland. This cruise was a mixed . First time sailing this class of Holland ship, it felt claustrophobic. Limited outside view as we traversed the ship due to layout. Just felt closed in. Bar service was wanting, as service poor, not set up as out of certain ...
This was my 30th cruise and my first and LAST with Holland America. Embarkation and debarkation were a nightmare if you needed wheelchair assistance. My friend and I both need it. The cabin was small. A wheelchair would have had a difficult time. We had plumbing problems 5 out of the 10 days. Some cabins had no air conditioning for the whole cruise. Those folks got nothing from the front desk but ...
We live near Vancouver, BC so enjoy the coastal repo cruises. After several on Princess, we tried HAL on a 3-night from Vancouver to San Francisco. Our timing was poor! A record-breaking early fall storm produced tropical-storm force winds and 25 foot seas. Here are grades and explanations for what we experienced on the m.s.Zuiderdam:
SHIP: B+. This is a beautiful, elegant ship with fascinating ...
On my previous voyage I had earned the status of a 3-star Mariner and so this voyage was the first time I had sailed under this new status. I had booked a Signature Suite on the Zuiderdam (paying double since traveling alone) 8 months in advance and had a suite amidships (to alleve motion problems and since I had a bad leg and was using a cane) on the port side confirmed for those 8 months. As I ...
