We were excited to be on Zuiderdam on Aug 26, from Boston up to Quebec city. While the ship was nice and in good shape for being a few years old, it was the service and our cabin that disappointed us.
Pros:
- ship was in good shape.
- Our inside cabin was roomy for 4.
- good communication and service once we got quarantined in our inside cabin half way through the cruise (not ...
We are definitely not going on HAL cruises again , neither recommending HAl to my friends. This cruise has been a big disappointment to us, and from what I've heard around, to other travelers, as well.
The main reason for us to choose this cruise was its itinerary, but 3 out of the 10 stops were canceled. Sure one cannot fight weather conditions, but I do have my doubts about how necessary ...
We chose this cruise because of the itinerary. We have been cruising for 30 years but never sailed on HAL. And, we won't again. Here's why: The boarding process in NY was chaotic and took about 2 hours. Not sure if it was the HAL staff or NY port problems because we've never left from NY before.
Once onboard, we noticed that the entire ship was very "tired and outdated". ...
We were on this ship for 12 days and thankfully only two sea days. We toured the Baltics We noticed that windows throughout the ship had cracks, tile in the Lido Dining Room floor was lifting when people stood on the tile waiting to be served from the food line. The grout in the floor tile looked dirty. The dining room tables in the Lido was cracked and peeling. Also, furniture in the lobby ...
I chose this cruise as a surprise for my husband for his birthday. Right out as 4 star mariners, we did not get any priority boarding, it was a cattle call with no organization at all! It was a disappointment as we lost both ports in Nova Scotia and had a horrible storm to pass through at night. Our closet door fell of during the storm. the ship overall needs a serious dry dock, many areas need ...
We sailed on the 12 day Zuiderdam Canada/New England cruise from 10/7/16 to 10/19/16. We got to Quebec City on 10/6/16 a day before embarkation and enjoyed a great meal at Le Saint Amour and a restful night at The JW Marriot. The embarkation was slow but being veterans of 30 cruises we have come to expect these waits. We have been on HAL enough to be Three Star Mariners. We had taken a 7 day HAL ...
Older ship badly in need of an overhaul and updating. The loading area was the start of problems. Poorly organized when we were one of the last groups to board. Aggressive staff trying to militarize getting boarding passes.on board there is absolutely nothing they do not charge for. On previous cruises (Oceania)at least we had free water. Not here $3.25 per bottle. Dining fair service but diner ...
We have always found HAL cruises to be top notch in our price range. Our "go to" liner of choice. The destinations on this cruise were great however the cutbacks were so apparent that it negatively impacted our total experience. The grab for the almight buck became offensive to us as well as to most of our fellow passengers who had travelled with HAL previosly. To be fair the front line staff ...
