We love to cruise! We chose this 14 day cruise with HAL because of the number of days at sea and the closer proximity to where we live. We have cruised previously, mainly with Royal Caribbean and felt that this ship did not in any way match up to their standards,. The ship is old, overall well maintained but very dated - it is definitely ready for a total refurbishment.

The ship is rather tired looking from the outside although the inside doesn't disappoint. Cabins pretty much the usual standard for any cruise ship but not having any tea and coffee making facilities in the cabin was not good. I wish I could say that this cruise was fantastic, but it wasn't. My husband and I sailed from Vancouver for a 7 night cruise to Alaska round trip. There was roughly 1600 people onboard. 80% were over 65 years old, aprox 100 kids under 18 and the rest were between 30-65. Mostly couples.

This was our first time on HAL, but we have been on 7 other cruises. We had heard wonderful things about HAL since my parents who were accompanying us had sailed with Holland America before and enjoyed it in the past.
