"We found the food there to be also quite good, although croutons were another item that missed the ship, so if anyone ordered a salad, croutons were not available.Service was better on my previous Holland America cruises, although the service and quality of that service on this cruise did improve as the week went on...."Read More

1-10 of 351 Caribbean Zuiderdam Caribbean Cruise Reviews
Itinerary- Africa at the top of my bucket list. Most ports were readily available to walk through. Ship tours ranged in price- from inexpensive to YIKES! Even though I now travel solo, I was comfortable and at ease. Staff on board exceptional- always willing to answer questions, give directions when we got lost or needed more information. Cabin stewards were always going the extra mile to make ...
We purchased a Neptune suite in the rear corner, so we had good all-round views and a large veranda. The only thing that was good about this expensive cruise were the workers on board. Very good people.
Cabin - Large but many issues listed below.
Food - Good at start but got worse over the trip. The specialty restaurants were much better than the public ones.
Entertainment - Similar all ...
The mainstage performances were the worst that I had in my 10+ cruise experiences. There were all male performers for the entire trip with very low quality. Obviously, the ship chose to save the cost of using low profile performers. The cruise entertainment director did a very poor job. Also, my first time use luggage case was damaged in the transport from the room to the dock. The food ...
Zuiderdam was our first HAL experience. It was our worst overall ship and cruise experience ever.
We were greeted in our cabin bath by a gush of brown water from the cold tap, which lasted two days. There were leaking pipes around the ship, faulty A/C systems, and some of the worst shipboard food. When spaghetti and meatballs were the highlight...but don't expect any Parmesan to top your ...
I've sailed with Holland America three times in the past, all prior to the COVID pandemic. The Westerdam, the Nieuw Amsterdam, and the Eurodam. Each ship impressed with it's service, food, comfort, and laid back style. I am not a fan of the mega ships that are out there and Holland America tends to run in the mid-size ship category.
Oh yes, the mega ships at other lines are very ...
This was the worst service I’d ever experienced on a ship. They didn’t seem to have enough crew for sailing at full capacity.
Food in the main dining room was quite pedestrian, with emphasis on inexpensive foods such as chicken and pasta. Portions were consistently small. Traditional sides such as garden salad and baked potato were not available. There were even fewer menu choices on the ...
First cruise on Holland America but 20th cruise overall. Wanted to see the Panama Canal and we selected Zuiderdam. I have avoided HAL for years and confirmed that this is not the cruise line for me.
Embarkation went very smoothly in Ft. Lauderdale. Ship is older and smaller than what we have sailed on recently but it is in very good condition. The ship has three sets of elevators where ...
Hub and I booked a balcony cabin rather last-minute -- back surgery on his part necessitated us letting go a steal of a deal on Empress of the Seas and rebooking a different trip. We were looking forward to sailing on HAL again, as we appreciate the relative calm on board (we drop the average cruiser age by 20 years when we embark) and had not been on a Dam ship in four years.
(As background: ...
We've cruised with Holland America at least 4 times and chose them because of their excellent service. This cruise stopped at their private island first, then Grand Turks, Amber Cove and Key West. The service was excellent, as usual, and the food was good. The entertainment, however, was sorely lacking. The first night, there was no show in the main stage area. For 6 nights, the main entertainment ...
Had an awesome cruise, 7 day Caribbean.
ship is from 2002 but renovated in 2017/18
My wife and I have sailed primarily Royal, Celebrity, Princess, NCL, Carnival and my wife Cunard in the past, over 40 cruises.
1900 passengers and 9 decks with lots of elevators.
many were on 2, 3 and 4 week back to back cruises
we are 65 and 68 so almost felt young!!
An older mix, say average age ...
