We chose this cruiser for the itinerary and the low price which included a basic beverage package, Cabin was dated and the wallpaper worn but the mattress was good, the linens fresh, the plumbing worked and everything was clean. Staff were friendly throughout. Food good with reasonable choice. Excellent al fresco dining aft of the buffet with great views. Entertainment OK for a small ship. Few other activities. Nifty little library with comfy chairs for a quiet read. Good card and game room. Tiny Casino. Hots tubs aft away from the pool area. Good sun loungers with refreshingly little 'hogging' which is endemic on American ships. Food was surprisingly good with excellent soups and good fish and pork selections. A clean and comfy ship without the modern 'bells and whistlers' all of which I can do without. Efficient disembarkation and boarding at ports. No special shuttles but most ports had public transit. Spanish passengers in the main but all crew spoke English and major announcements were in English too. Relaxing, enjoyable and at a great price. Read Less

NOT THE ZENITH SHIP. MONARCH Ship was our cruise. All Spanish speaking, some English. Overall a fair cruise. Do not take interior room as walls are thin. Fruit was not ripe, hard and lacked flavor. Coke and other soft drinks plus most alcohol free in open main pool/deck area. Poor looking few channels on 17-20" TV. Few activities, guess we are spoiled. Yellowish brown nasty looking hot water for 3 days, took cold shower. It is an adventure. All Spanish speaking cruise, some English. Overall a fair cruise, fun for first timers but experienced cruisers will not be happy unless you are old hippies. Do not take interior room as walls are thin and some people will party all night into the wee hours of the morning... plus staff do not like complaints, so it is best to hold complaints until you can make them online. The Filipino staff were great, but some of the Spanish complained about being underpaid. Read Less

Zenith is an old boat, built in 1992 so with that in mind it was never going to be one of the newer luxury liners. The accommodation was adequate without being luxurious. With an older boat such as Zenith there are always creeks and noises as the boat moves which can be disturbing for sleep if you are a light sleeper. On the question of the movement of the boat we both find that there was quite a lot of “swell” movement which would say to us as laypeople the stabilisers were broken or were not up to scratch. Secondly, the cruise line Pullmantur is mostly catering for a Spanish clientele and again with that in mind be careful about booking with them as of course most of the programs on board such as shows and all communications are mainly in Spanish. We had taken out a “Black Waves“ package which is the top package on board which gives you various advantages such as free Wi-Fi in a special part of the boat!, private sun deck, waiter service at own assigned restaurant table and free drinks from a drinks list throughout the cruise. No personnel could explain to me why the free Wi-Fi was not available in our cabin and throughout the boat which would be normal for that type of service on other ships. So when you want to use the Wi-Fi you had to visit an assigned bar! The downsides of the ship are more than made up by the staff on board who do a valiant job in difficult circumstances. We would single out particularly the “Waves Club” staff Juan and Jose and the restaurant staff Rey and I Mahdi and I would suggest that one tour which is worth doing if you are fit enough for it is one of the on shore electric cycle tours with Miguel and Nico. Overall, my recommendation would be there are other better international operators and offerings for the Canary Islands, Madeira, Agadir route. These would probably offer better value in a newer ship such as TUI Aida. Star rating 2.5 out of 5! Read Less

Itinerary was some stops that we wanted to see. (Lisbon, Amsterdam,Dover,Kiel/Rostock) The crew went the extra distance to make our cruise enjoyable. The Pullmanur Zenith is an older ship but the price, staff, crew, and service make up for it. We are frequent cruisers and have been on many lines. We were surprised at how much service we were given for an incredibly economic price. The cruise fare even included free drinks at no extra charge! Dining room and buffet were everything we expected. Our balcony cabin was as comfortable as any we have occupied. There are many nationalities on the ship, but we found everyone friendly and helpful. A piece of the balcony rail was a little loose, so we called the desk. They came up immediately, fixed it and couldn't stop apologizing for a very little thing that we were not in the least disturbed about. They even left a bottle of wine and some fruit in our cabin that night which was very nice and not at all necessary, which showed excellent customer service. The gave us a credit on our bill, even without asking, for an excursion in Amsterdam that was a little shorter than expected because of the harbormaster and of no fault of the ship or excursion staff. We would definitely cruise with them again. We highly recommend that you consider Pullmantur lines. Don & Donna Shedd Hampstead, NH Read Less

This was an attractive cruise both price-wise and because of the itinerary. The boarding process went very smoothly. The cabin was well-appointed. We had a balcony which I would always recommend. Because this is an older ship, it is in need of maintenance occasionally which happened with our toilet (wouldn't flush) on three occasions, the water out of the tap on the last day was rust-coloured and our curtains came off the rails. In each instance a maintenance person was on the problem within five minutes. It was very impressive. The carpets in the cabin hallways were worn and in need of replacement. Everything else was in very good order. The food was excellent with many options at each meal. The dress requirements for the dining-room were not really enforced which was to our liking in a hot climate. What was most impressive though was the crew. We had only 650 guests for a crew of 650. Normally this cruise would have up to 1850 guests. So, the service was impeccable. We like to get to know our crew and what was remarkable was that almost all of the staff had been on that ship 5 - 20 years. It spoke volumes about the cruise line. Most of the entertainment was in Spanish which we did not speak and was geared for a somewhat younger crowd. We did not visit the disco or see a show. The pool music was disco/pop. What surprised me though was that there were no options for Spanish lessons which we would have jumped at. Here was a missed opportunity. The gym had several machines that needed maintenance. Our shore excursions were private so that we could speak to the guides directly. Disembarking was equally smooth and effortless. They seem to have that well-organized. I would definitely book a Pulmantur cruise again. Read Less

This my very first cruise so I don't have a lot to compare it too. I live in Curacao, and get to see A LOT of cruise ships. Compared to those who visit the island, this one was small. But I received the cruise as a gift so I cant complain. The ship is an older smaller ship. There was not a lot of diversity. Two buffets, One main dining room, one bar, one club. We had the ocean vieuw room on deck 10 and it was ok. Our room was nicely cleaned EVERYDAY! We had the all inclusive drink package and regularly took drinks to our room. Didier was awesome in cleaning everything up. The diner was good. Didn't eat anything twice. Our waiter Vedi was amazing. He always knew what pairing to recommend and no request was too outrageous. He and Diana gave us exceptional service everyday. So much that I was looking forward to dinner. The entertainment and activities were very limited. There was always something to do, but there was not many options. And also I had the feeling that it was all focused on a much older crowd. The ports and excursions were ok. I only booked an excursion at Cartagena, the hop on, hop off bus. I think it was ok. I wouldnt go on this cruise again, but I will recommend it to an older or elderly couple. Read Less

I chose the cruise because I wanted to cruise the Caribbean visiting places like Santo Domingo which I do not usually go to. The cruise was good, the food was good too. The staff were helpful and friendly. I was very disappointed that the Teen Club was never available for my daughter whenever she went there was some excuse or the other - "we have only boys today", "or we are dealing with the new children today.". Service was good in the photo shop and the Spa. However, dinner time service was the best and I must commend Waiter Mr. Julian Martinez and Assistant Waiter Mr. Santiago Assume who gave excellent service. I enjoyed the nightly shows with the singers and dancers. However the stand up show was disappointing to me as it was in Spanish and I am English speaking. My recommendation would be to pay more attention to the non -Spanish speaking passengers during the entertainment segments so that all passengers can have a better experience. Read Less

I took a cruise that was to take me to La Romana, St. Maarten, St. Lucia, Antigua, Barbados and Grenada. First disappointment: without any explanations, the stop at La Romana was cancelled. the company decided to give USD 100 per cabin. On one of the islands, the stay was cut for three hours, also no explanation. I purchased an internet package consisting of minutes, but the account was charged based on megas, meaning you very quickly used up the "minutes" you had purchased. a rip-off. Second rip-off: the beverage package. Half of the listed beverages are not available. The cruises organized by the ship are disastrous and expensive. When you complain, you are exposed to a Spanish lady at the tour office who treats you in a disrespectful and rude manner. The food served on the ship is nowhere near the gastronomic experience of other ships (i.e. Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, Celebrity), it's very normal food to calm your hunger. This is a Caribbean cruise, but no seafood (shrimp, smoked salmon, etc.) is ever served. The menu is oriented for the large percentage of Spanish passengers that are on board. The "night with the captain" is another deception. You are to dress elegantly and are then sent to and seated at an auditorium, where you listen to the captain on the stage talk and introduce you to part of his staff. Then you can have your picture taken with him (picture for which you have to pay). And then the event is finished. We were charged USD 108 per person for a so-called "service tax", which we assumed was the tips you are supposed to give. But this is not so. We were told that we were free to give tips, so I have not idea what that money is for. I got no answer when I asked why we were given a 100-dollar-compensation per cabin, and not per person, if the service tax was charged per person. Nobody would give me an answer. Summarizing: a very disappointing experience with this company, which I will not recommend to any of my circle. For the price I paid, I could have gotten twice as much service on another cruise. This is no luxury cruise at all. Read Less

Cruise was advertised with a mini suite, only five days before we received cabin number. Not a mini suite, a very poor " de luxe" balcony cabin. Not as advertised and sold. Agent blames Pulmantur and flatly refused to accept responsibility even though they advertised and sold product. Very poor quality cabin, no kettle, air con ineffective, no fridge and orders not to put paper down the toilets. No stabilisers so very rocky in light waves, entertainment poor, one night just a man blowing fancy bubbles. All in all the worst trip ever, would not recommend this very old small ship. Plus side, food was ok. At Cittavecchia queue for shuttle bus took over an hour, gave up and stayed on board. Sum up. Ship very old. Cabin basic, Food ok, Entertainment amateur, Dining staff good. Cabin staff good. The worst cruise ever. Tip. Pay extra and take a bigger modern ship. Not worth the price however cheap. Read Less

This past September 2016 I took a cruise on the Monarch with Pullmantur. The price was a great value and the cruise was worth every penny since I paid less than $600 for this cruise and it was a 15 day cruise. Was everything excellent? No, but for me the ship was comfortable the food was good and the staff were upbeat and nice to be around. The food at the buffet was very good and the dinner food in the dining room was good but my dining choices were limited, the menu never changed throughout the duration of the cruise (15- days) we had one menu to select from and the items on the menu were limited. My favorite hang-out was Schooner Bar was my favorite hang-out, it was right next to the Casino and the bar made excellent coffee - yum and the bar service was great. Would I take another cruise with Pullmantur? You betcha, yes, I sure would it's a great value. Read Less

My husband and I booked this, as it was Malta to Malta and we had no flying. Having done approximately 10 other cruises before, we can honestly say this was down there at the bottom. The embarkation process was excellent, well organised and very quick. Our cabin (1007) which was a balcony, was ready upon embarkation and was a reasonable size with lots of storage,, however there starts the downfall, during the cruise, our toilets stopped flushing for a whole day, and another day we were without water in the cabin for the whole day, we couldn't shower to go out on tour, then when we got back we could not wash or shower before dinner (all we got was one bottle of water to supplement us)!. The carpet was not vacuumed and there were bits all over. The cabin steward left no details of his name, and the this day (disembarkation) we still do not know his/her name (shoddy to say the least). Plus side is the cabin was quiet and we had an excellent nights sleep. I used the spa and booked a pilates session- this was excellent! She stretched my abilities and I had a thorough work out. I was going to go back for a second, but never got around to it- shame. Security aboard the ship thought they were protecting the president of USA. They never cracked a smile or exchanged pleasantries which we saw. Breakfasts were at the hottest, warm and some occasions cold once I asked if they had warm plates to put the warm food on and the staff member actually said what a good idea, it would stop the food getting cold! lunch was virtually the same throughout the week. I am surprised the ship has not gone down with any infections, as no-one and I mean o-one used the hand sanitisers, there was no member of staff to make people use them and they were not even placed very strategically! Entertainment was a joke first night was introduce the staff, and two other nights was screened football in the theatre. So, 3 out of 7 nights the animation team had off! There was no poolside entertainment, sorry I lie, there was bingo round the pool?, ad bingo in the bar later around 20.00. Entertainment between 14.00 and 16.00 was siesta time!!!Evenings were very tame affairs i.e. RCL (who incidentally own CDF) will have animated village people groups and bought in acts during a cruise. Not so on Zenith! The dancers were good entertainment, but the shows lacked Pzazz. The bar staff and the dining room staff were excellent, and made up for the rest of the ships faults and the lack of enthusiasm in the rest of the crew. Sorry! I cannot recommend this cruise unless you are 90 plus! Read Less
