Our flight to Seattle was on a Virgin Airlines Boeing 787 in Economy. We had looked to upgrade to Premium Economy but the price was prohibitive. Booked 2 mini-suites thru travel agent. We also did the land portion in Fairbanks. Excellent sight-seeing and food/drink service on the Princess train to Whittier. Good balcony spaces (port side - land view headed south) and comfy beds. Food and entertainment onboard decent but didn't sample all possibilities. I arrived in Fairbanks and was excited to take the well planned and educational excursions there and in Denali. The 9.5 hour train trip was beautiful and a great way to meet more new friends!

I must start off by saying the best thing of all was the weather!!!!! We went on this same cruise in 2003 and enjoyed it enough to go back and hope for better weather. Ports of call were great. Most lodges were nice but lots of coach riding and trains. Saw very little wildlife but weather was fabulous. Got to see Denali finally after the clouds passed. We chose the Coral Princess as we knew that the mattresses had been replaced recently. (We had problems with this on a prior Princess cruise.) The mattress was great! Land portion was great - except for placing your suitcase in the hallway of the Lodges about 6 am. Nice accommodations at three Princess lodges, pricey food in dining rooms, excellent included tour packages.
(By the way, nobody mentioned that a FOOD PACKAGE was available for Lodges and train ride! Would have been nice and saved us some money.)
