I love Princess cruising and have gone on several in the Caribbean, but this was my first to Alaska. We first did 4 days land at the Princess McKinley and Denali lodges, then boarded the train to Whittier, Alaska to board the ship. Princess has this so organized. About a half mile from each lodge a representative gets on your bus and gives everyone their room key so when you arrive you are able to ...
This is the same trip that we made last year except this time it was with a group of friends. The last time we were on the Island Princess we took the ship from Whittier, AK to Vancouver, BC, to Ft. Lauderdale, the last Alaska voyage and on to the first Panama Canal voyage. It felt like we had just left the ship and we were back on it. We started in Fairbanks going south to Whittier. Stopped ...
The Island Princess is a great ship. We have been on many newer ships and this one although not brand new does not disappoint. The food, cabins, public areas, entertainment, and itinerary to Alaska are exceptional. We had a larger than usual balcony. Also, on most Princess ships the closet area is bigger than those on other ships. The production numbers in the theater were better than the usual ...
We started our trip with a five-day land tour staying at the Princess Lodges. Alaska was beautiful. The weather for the land portion was warmer (80s) than expected and the cruise portion was cooler than expected. I wish we had packed warmer clothes for the cruise. We were also told that Aug is usually the rainy season for Alaska something we didn't know. It rained alot during the cruise ...
In August 2017 a family wedding in BC, Canada found us a long way from our home in the UK. As part of our itinerary we decided to take an Alaskan cruise and Island Princess fitted in with our timetable. We had never sailed with any other company but Cunard so it was with some apprehension that we headed north to Whittier via Anchorage.
We made private arrangements for the journey from Anchorage ...
We chose this cruise because we ran out of time planning a trip to Alaska on our own. We had friends who had done the cruise a couple of weeks before and they said it is a wonderful cruise, scenic, and with good stops/excursions. I was not expecting much. I am a "I am never going to cruise again" person after my first and only cruise before this (21 years ago!!) Now I feel dumb! What a ...
ship was old - worn holes in chair in room - carpet had worn spots - carpet was coming apart in doorways - mold in shower - food in main dining room was boring & tasteless - showers very small - the only thing that I can say I liked about the cruise were the beds - very comfortable - doubtful we will ever go on a Princess cruise again - help was not that friendly, almost like they were too busy to ...
8 adult family members traveling together on a cruise for the second time. The first was on the NCL Pride of America in 2015 to Hawaii.
For this trip, my mother-in-law selected the Princess "Voyage of the Glaciers" because of the option to add the land tour. 4 of the family did not take the land tour. My husband and in-laws and I added the 3 day extra option, and arrived in Fairbanks on ...
This is a trip we would recommend to anyone. This was a 10 day with 3 day land beginning on 6/25 in Anchorage and ending in Vancouver. We booked through Costco which is always hassle free. The one thing we didn't realize is that virtually everything is Princess. The lodges, the motor coaches and even the railway. Everything was incredibly seamless and went like clockwork.
The Princess Lodges in ...
Loved the cruise however this ship has seen better days. There are maintenance issues with sewer smells in the stairwells, tattered furniture in public areas and bathrooms that have holes in the doors, with lots of rust all around. Our Balcony cabin was nice and our steward was very attentive. Service was to be expected in the dinning room but nothing above and beyond. Entertainment was just ok ...
