We really enjoyed our Alaskan land/cruise the ship is a bit smaller then a lot of the ships however the staff was friendly and really hustled to be sure the guest experience was a pleasant one. The entertainment was excellent but, I think they need to run later shows for people who enjoy the night more.
The voyage through Glacier Bay was spectacular they had park rangers on board who gave ...
We flew to Fairbanks on Sept. 6th with the hopes of viewing the Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis. We had contacted Ben Boyd, Northern Lights touring company, in order to arrange for a pickup at our hotel at 10:30 p.m. Upon arriving at the hotel (Best Western Chena River Lodge-excellent choice) we encountered a young woman who said that just the night before, she had been given a wake-up call ...
I had a wonderful two week vacation in Alaska. Reading some of the reviews, I did feel some trepidation, but it was unfounded. I think some people aren’t happy if they don’t have something to complain about. It's a vacation! Why spend it looking for things you can be upset about? Is that fun? This trip had been planned for over a year, so I had done plenty of research, including Trip ...
This cruise was part of a land tour/cruise package from Princess. We had planned on a cheaper cruise in September, but fortunately booked this cruise while on another Princess Cruise. The Future Cruise Host on that ship quickly convinced us we were far better off taking this earlier cruise. The land portion of our tour was eight days, two each in four different Princess lodges. I will not ...
Our 4th cruise to Alaska and we stayed prior to our sail date in Anchorage at the Captain Cook Hotel as part of our Princess package with hotel and transfers to the ship. The hotel was very nice, Anchorage is an easy town to walk about and the transfer to the ship was well organized. We arrived in Whittier about 1:00 and went thru the Preferred Boarding area in less than 10 minutes.
We were in ...
This was our 4th Princess cruise, 9th overall. After a 4 night Alaska land tour, we boarded the ship in Whittier. A unique experience was having "Princess Cruise Ladies" board the train from Denali and process our documents so when we arrived at Whittier, our cruise cards were delivered (before we exited the train) and we walked directly onto the ship. We loved the new Royal Princess but we like ...
The grandparents offered to watch the kids so my husband and I could go on a vacation this summer. We've been on several cruises, and my husband has never been to Alaska, so we figured it was time. We flew into the Anchorage airport the morning before the cruise. It's a small but lovely airport. Friends who were visiting Anchorage for several weeks picked us up from the airport later in the ...
I wrote an extensive review on the Princess forum including photos. This will be a summary of our trip. Briefly, this was my 3rd cruise to Alaska. 2 times on the Island Princess. 1st trip my DH and I did the 5 day land tour through Princess, 2nd time we did our own 7 day land tour.
This time, due to time constraints, my BFF and I did a 4 day pre-cruise DIY land tour.
Upon return of our ...
After reading some rather poor reviews on this site before our trip, I was somewhat concerned about the trip, but there was no need to be. We had a 14 day trip that combined Princess lodges at Fairbanks, Denali, and McKinley pretrip, as well as a Princess arranged stay at the Fairmont Waterfront in Vancouver with Victoria trip afterward. It was all wonderful. We had one bad meal at the Denali ...
Our party of four (2 mini-suites), all close to but not quite seniors, consisted of three people who had never been to Alaska nor cruised with any line previously, and myself. I had done both; previous cruises with Princess and Cunard, although all were at least twenty years ago. We approached the experience with the idea that it would be the "trip-of-a-lifetime", and nobody was ...
