Review for a Alaska Cruise on Island Princess

This was our first cruise with Princess, and our first to Alaska. We did a four day land tour before the cruise, all with Princess. We were a group of 12, some family, some friends. We were not very impressed with the land portion. There were times when it was very disorganized, other times not much to do. There wasn't a lot of restaurants to choose from at the Princess lodges, and if you ...

My husband and I took a 15 day escorted cruise tour. The land portion was stellar but basically unescorted. Our quite seemed to disappear one we got our room keys. Our disappointed was reflected in his minimum tip. We boarded the Coral Princess in Whittier on June 3, 2015. We left Rainy Whittier into a gale. The first night and sea day were a little rough. This ship goes in for ...

Our Last Princess Cruise in the Near Future

First things first: the weather was absolutely fabulous. So fine, we wouldn't go again to Alaska because everyone told us the seven days of sunshine and clear skies were a rare exception. So another trip would probably a disappoinment weatherwise. And the Alaskan landscape is just spectacular. Now for Princess' performance (we did seven previous cruises with Princess and our last one was with ...

Poor value and nickel/dimed to death

You would think that after paying over $10k for an Alaska CruiseTour that you should not have to pay extra to get a soda with your meal or have to spend $29 for a soda card, but not here. For "your convenience" they charge $11.50 per person (children included) per day for tips for the room stewart and serving staff. This works out to a total "take" of $250k. If this was shared among the entire ...

After spending our 25th wedding anniversary on The Pride Of America we were over the moon with this cruise so we thought why not go to Alaska and do the cruise back to Vancouver something on most peoples bucket list. Once again we had a balcony room and like the other ship it was the same inside but this is where it ends. The buffet restaurant was the first place we went to the first night for ...

Unsafe and obstructed balcony among other issues

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Crown Princess

Every guest had access to our balcony from a large observation deck that obstructed our view. Very disappointing especially going through the glaciers. We were never notified about this in advance. We saved a lot of money to have a suite. People on the observation could look into our bedroom and living area. The only privacy we had was to keep our curtains shut. When we complained we were offered ...

Given 3 weeks notice to book a lifelong dream of cruising Alaska, we made the best of it. We left our 3 children at home with the grandparents, and had a much deserved getaway, adults only, to Alaska. We flew from Florida the day before, and spent the night in Anchorage which was expensive. We then took a Princess charter bus to Whittier, where we walked off the bus, walked into the terminal which ...

Princess has gone downhill

I am so disappointed to see what has happened to Princess. This was my 12th cruise, and 7th with Princess. It is not the same. Here you have it: Dining - anytime dining apparently does not mean ANYtime dining as 2 nights we were given a pager to wait for a table. On 3 separate breakfast / lunch occasions the horizon Court was completely full and there was nowhere to sit. The food was the worst I ...

Free Style Cruising... Or, No Style Cruising?

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Norwegian Sun

First Time Cruiser • Age 70s

This was our first cruise (although we have done 3 trans-Atlantic crossings on Cunard). We chose NCL because of the timing and the fact that we wanted to disembark in Vancouver. Embarkation was quick-thank goodness- because it was pouring rain, winds were 40 knots and there was almost no covering for the passengers as they approached the ship. So we began our trip wet and cold-but then things got ...

Recently came off the Sun's Southbound inside passage (6/30). Due to past experiences NCL WOULD NOT have been our first choice. We were accompanying a friend who had made this his Birthday trip. First the good; Embarkation and disembarkation are done smoothly and very efficiently(could be the ports). Tender operations at Icy Strait Point/Hoonah excellent NO line ups. Liked the ship and layout. ...
