Our friends convinced us to take Majestic Princess to Alaska as they’d taken it twice before and raved about it. Unfortunately, we had rainy, cloudy weather 5 of the 7 days and a landslide closed the Skagway port so we were rerouted to Icy Strait. This port was small, and we didn’t find much to do in the 12 hours we were there. We weren’t able to see a lot at our first four points of interest - ...
We chose this cruise as it was a decent price, had the 11 day land / sea option that I really wanted to do.
We flew from Vancouver to Anchorage 3 days before our actual start date. I recommend booking your flights along way in advance as the dates do not line up well with the sailing / land tour start dates. Flight cost was $280 CDN pp one way.
Hotels in Anchorage are expensive! Expect $250 ...
My wife and I took a 7 day cruise from Whittier to Vancouver. Prior to that we had a 7 day inland trip staying in three princess lodges. Overall the inland trip was superior by far although the Princess lodges are adequate but not up to a typical city hotel standard.
The Princess Magestic was a beautiful ship which was kept extremely clean at all times by the staff. Princess uses a medalion ...
This makes our 10th Princess cruise. The Majestic is a beautiful ship and the staff overall were wonderful. The itinerary was exactly what we wanted. We left from Whittier, and had two days of scenic cruising to see the glaciers which was amazing! Then we were supposed to go to Skagway, however due to the mudslide, we were unable to go there. Instead we went to Haines. Decided not to take a tour ...
My wife and I had always wanted to do a cruise from Alaska and we had heard good things about Princess. We booked through Princess a Club Class mini suite as well as a night prior in Anchorage At the Captain Cook Hotel as well as train passage to the cruise port. Our adventure did not start off well thanks to Air Canada. We missed our connection to Anchorage and ended up having to spend the night ...
The following is the list I created as we went along the land and cruise tour… this is not an extensive list, but we are sad that we cannot recommend Princess in any future cruise destinations. As the title of this review states… first and last impressions matter and neither were good for us.
Land portion of trip:
Food was subpar, understandably knowing expectations from different parts of ...
After we had booked this cruise months in advance, we received disturbing news. We were informed that we were on our own at debarkation as far as COVID testing. Up until this notification we were led to believe testing would be provided before our flight home. Several hundred people had to scramble to get a covid test before we could fly home from Vancouver. The cruise would have been much more ...
Princess Land and Cruise Tour, May 15-25, 2022
This review will cover our most recent cruise vacation. It was a long planned 10-day land and cruise combination trip to Alaska. We expected a pleasant trouble free and relaxing post-Covid vacation hosted by what is widely considered to be the premier purveyor of such trips, Princess Cruise Lines. Spoiler Alert! It was not to be.
This was ...
We enjoyed the destination and staff, but there are any number of areas that need to be improved. Entertainment, food quality and the land cruise portion come to mind. However, the glaciers and landmass so spectacular its difficult not to be in awe - so definitely visit Alaska.
The land portion was spectacular in terms of the natural beauty (and we hit the perfect time for fall leaf color). ...
We have been on about 15 cruises, last one 15 years ago. We have been all over the Caribbean, Mexican Rivera a number of times. Been through the Panama Canal, New Zealand and Australia. First cruise I have been on were I was charged for a soda. First cruise I have been on were they wanted to charge me $40 per person per day to look off the stern of the ship. Charged $29 per day service charge ...
