We had never been to San Diego-- arrived 2 days pre cruise and stayed at the Republic Hotel on State and B. Easy walking distances to Little Italy and the Gaslamp Quarter.
Loved restaurant Ironsides--- delicious and great service.
Enjoyed Seaport Village---- and walking along the waterfront
Spend day at the San Diego Zoo--- thoroughly enjoyed it.

We chose this cruise mainly because it embarked from San Diego on a slightly smaller ship than we usually use. It's the first time that we have departed from a western cruise port and were curious about the recent refurbishment on the Westerdam.
Embarkation was very impressive and surprising laid back compared to the process from Florida ports. It was well organized, quick and ...
We came to San Diego for a Thanksgiving cruise and stayed at the Grand Horton Hotel for a great price. Nice historic hotel in Gas lamp district. Valet parking is $42. a night though. Glad a great dinner at Fleming's Steak House a short walk away. We have been on 18 cruises with Princess and about 12 on other lines but had never been on Holland America. We parked at Wyndham Bayside and walked ...
We had no family to spend Thanksgiving with so we left the day after; we had gotten a great deal on this cruise AND the next one, so did both; great price on a Signature Suite. Loved the food; our newly remodeled room, always enjoy the ports and handy having Wifi reasonable 24 hours a day to keep in touch with the world. We are 4 Star Mariners so have a few advantages from that but loved having ...
My husband has SADD. We took this cruise for the sunshine and it was our first time on Mexico's west side.
Cleanliness, service and excursions were plentiful and varied. The food was abundant and we could remain lowkey, which we prefer. I loved the Crow's Nest, the library/coffee shop on the Observation deck. Having a torn meniscus limited my excursions, so I entertained myself by doing ...
Like the colour scheme, which is more subdued than I remember on the other 3 Vista class ships, Food in the MDR seemed a step up over our last cruise on Eurodam. The wait staff have changed from pen and paper to tablets, with a noticeable improvement in the speed of service. We got in and out from one meal in the MDR in 45 minutes! Entertainment was good and the Adagio classical music duo was far ...
Had a wonderful cruise and enjoyed the people. Great weather and a great cabin added to our enjoyment. The destinations were typical, but still was pleasurable. Food is fine, not special but good enough to gain a few pounds from (sadly the weight, not so sad the eating). Entertainment was good, but because of a jazz group on board ( I think that was why), few movies. But being able to hear ...
Wonderful cruise! It was really the staff that made it so great. Every single staff member was so gracious and accommodating and that made it so enjoyable for us! The staff member Bagus in the dining room was very helpful and sweet.
Went to computer classes which were taught by a very knowledgeable lady and I finally learned how to navigate Windows 10 on my new computer. Thank you!!

To begin with, this wasnt our first cruise. We have done Disney -- 7, NCL - 4, Royal Car-- 4, Carnival - 2 prior to our first ever with HAL. Wanted to take time to list out the various issues we have had with HAL.
Concierge / Lounge :- Maybe we expected a bit too much comparing it to Disney. W ehave sailed disney and being a suite occupant are entitled to concierge services and lounge.

Grandpa wanted to go fishing, and can no longer handle the long flights to Florida, so we picked this easy San Diego departure.
As this trip was during Winter Break (the week before Christmas) the ship was FULL of children. Good for our 14 year old who met and hung out with LOTS of teens. Not so good for me and hubby. Half of the ship had to be under 20. That's a lot of children.
