We enjoyed the places of Port the cruise took, our cabin had a balcony and it was a very nice room, the food was poor and so was the service very unfriendly staff, made the ship experience very unpleasant. Having been on other cruise lines this was the worst experience as it is the service that plays a huge part of the cruising experience. Other than the places of Port i wouldn't taken this line. The only staff members that was pleasant were the cruise director Petra, she is wonderfully talented and the guest entertainer with the magic show was good. Service needs serious improvement especially guest relations they were quick to answer without hearing our questions. On board entertainment was very poor. My partner and i requested a board game and most of the pieces were missing. There is not much to do on a sea day onboard. We had someone do a lecture on upcoming ports it was honestly pathetic!! She showed us pictures and knew nothing about any port, most guests walked out while she spoke, the master chef quiz after her was very nice. Read Less

We have cruised many times, including on NCL 3 or 4 times. Even though this cruise had problems due to the weather, that part of the cruise was not in their control, so this has nothing to do with that. The good points were: the ship was very clean and kept that way. There were some nice workers, not many though. Had great on board entertainment. Negatives: Oddly, had several dirty table cloths during our dining experiences at the white table cloth seating's during breakfast. Most of the people who worked on this ship were not very cordial. Normally they are pleasant and full of energy and talkative, about 90% of the workers in all areas in all restaurants and bars seemed very tired, bored, way too serious, always seemed that when we asked for something we were bothering them. The area where they showed movies maybe sat 80 people, but it was a bar, and a tiny screen, was ridiculous. Most of us left the movie because the seating was so poor due to people taking chairs and moving them up front in front of the screen. All the other ships we have ever been on on NCL, RCL and Carnival all had actual theaters to watch movies. Game room only sat about 20 people, with over 4,000 aboard, Too small My son sent us Champagne. When we got to the room it was sitting in the silver container in room temperature water, not ice. We will not go on this ship again, it was way too small , crowded, not enough seating in public areas, stood alot. Just was not a pleasant experience. Food was average, really average. Definitley not the experience we have had on the other NCL ships we have been on. Read Less

Service was great ! Staff very nice and fun. Restaurants a good variety, maybe a bit more of another kind of food....the food was very good most of the time. The Tastings (whiskey, martini, etc) were soooooooooo much fun you need to try it ! The shows were lots of fun, specially the magic show and the broadway show "Rock of Ages". Karaoke every night and the live music were awesome ! I got the chance to participate in the Dance Battle competition and won, it was lots of fun and very well done. If you have the chance to participate please do it. Everything is was great, wonderful experience, the only thing i would say is that, i still think the drinks shouldn't be that expensive in general and also the wifi there should be a way to include it in the price of the room or it shouldnt be that expensive either. Good Stuff: -Garden Food Court easy to maneuver due to multiple locations to go to. Seating was large and enabled us to find seating unlike other cruises. Food was delicious and different daily. -Many different tours at different price points which we appreciated. -Getting onboard and departing was orgainized & painless except for final retreival of baggage. Had to find in a one sided open tent which had people coming & going... not good. -Room steward was kind and attentive. Bad Stuff: -Dinner in resturants were very, very slow between ordering and receiving, ditto for desserts course. Not a good experience for one of our favorite things to do. -Entertainment was not to our liking. We are older and like Movies each day, especially in the evening after dinner. The movies you had were old and set at different times usually during a Tour. You could order in your room for a price but wanted the theater experience with no cost. Suprised this was lacking. We chose this cruise to see the Baltic. We added a few days in Germany after the cruise to pursue seeing my Husband's Grandfather's homeland of Germany. We highly recommend this tour and cruise line. It was great getting on in Germany versus Copenhagen. I think the check in was easier, and we had a day to relax while other's were touring. One down size was the excursions. There was too little time for bathroom and shopping breaks. Russia's 2 day excursion about killed us in it's pace. I think maybe next time I would do the on-off bus excursions. We did this in Berlin. It allows more personal time, and the audio purchased at the palace was great explaining everything. In defense of the excursions; they are safer than going on your own, and the limited time in port does sometimes warrant a full schedule. All of our guides were great. All accommodations, entertainment, and staff on the ship were great. Time spent in the spa was heavenly. Meals in the general areas were delicious. We went to three specialty restaurants: Cagney's Steak House; Le Bistro's French Restaurant; and La Cochina's Italian Restaurant were superb. Everyone be prepared to spend two hours for dinner in any of these restaurants. I highly recommend 5:30 pm reservations, so as to walk some of the food off and to avoid missing any 7:30 entertainment. I noticed most of the fellow cruisers booked these later in the evening, though. On a night we decided to miss the 7:30 entertainment we did book a later time, which did work out (this dinner was no later than 7 pm). The Breakfast Buffet on deck 15 is great prior to your shore excursions. It is quick, while providing excellent food and service. An inside cabin worked wonderful for us. We had comfort, and our cabin was in the most convenient part of the ship (Port Side Mid-Ship) room 5161. We can't wait to book another cruise. We had a great time. We loved our ship and the places we visited. Kudo's to everyone on staff on the Getaway! Read Less

My wife and I chose this cruise because of the itinerary (Baltic Sea Cruise). Plus, we have cruised Carnival pretty much exclusively for the last 10 - 12 years, so we were ready for a change. And we are glad we did change! For all of the cruises we have taken, this one was, hands down, the best cruise we have ever been on. Not only was the itinerary excellent (especially St Petersburg Russia) but the ship was fantastic! Food was excellent including the four specialty restaurants we visited, entertainment was great, staff was great. My wife and I both agree that we are switching our cruise allegiance to Norwegian! I've already booked our next cruise with them (12 day British Isles cruise next year). And as an extra bonus, we took advantage of the purchase of future deposits (which we have already used to book the British Isles cruise) and received $500 shipboard credit! Hard to beat that deal!
