Booked this cruise 6 months ago. From the get go was a terrible experience. Boarding was chaotic, over 2 hours to board despite having first boarding time of 11.30 am. Itinerary changes supposed to visit 6 islands. Ended up going to 2. No information given from crew. Stuck doing laps around sydney. 11 night cruise turned to 7 sea days. The new gym set up is a joke. Refurbishment.... What refurbishment. The removed the old gym which was excellent and turned johnny rockets into a gym 1 fith of the size. The removed the complimentary sauna and steam rooms and added 70 more cabins which is ridiculous. The ship felt over crowded and cramped in public spaces. Absolutely terrible. Cabins mouldy, old furniture and furnishings. Public spaces old. No refunds given, no complimentary movies etc. Royal Caribbean has really dropped the ball. This was my 4 cruise with them and most certainly my last. Guest relations was absolutely terrible. Food sub par. However service at dining room and windjammer from front of house staff was excellent. Read Less

I expected better for the price I paid, The biggest problem for me was the food lacking taste nutrition and presentation was very bad, especially main dinning, very annoying when waiters continually asked how was the food when they knew I didnt like anything. Interior promenade view cabin was so noisy, music continued all night, I asked to be moved to another cabin and I was which was good. Walking down the Promenade was crowded noisy bands extremely loud and hard to do shopping but the shops weren't much anyway. Windjammer eating was poor quality also loud music staff singing washie washie songs I have no problem washing hands, but to be sung songs like we are children was embarrassing and annoying. Deck 11 full of drunks, couldn't watch outdoor movie but that happens on lots of cruises. Was very hard to find a quiet place, library was always full of people. Ship very cold. Read Less

Booked this cruise in 2018 because of the itinerary In the South Pacific, as previously we had missed a few islands because of a cyclone. The Coronavirus caused a few. Small islands into locked down so the itinerary was changed the day before, but still in the South Pacific. Once on board the itinerary was changed again lost four islands and given more sea days and an overnight stop in NZ (only cruised there last year) and a stop in Eden on the south coast of NSW. I do know what’s in the fine print, but changing countries without consultation or reimbursement is extremely poor. We will never do a Royal Carribean cruise again, this was a first time with them and now the last, this was out 15 cruise and never have we been treated the way RC treated us. Did not like the ship as everything was centred around the promenade, all the shops and small bars and they also did all the dancing classes making it very hard to move through the ship even on shore days the staff would rehearse holding up passengers, public areas lacking and no place to sit quietly very crowded on the ship, had to line up for meals in the dinning room every night. Did not see the captain once he did make a couple of public appearances but they were times we were at meals or they were for the exclusive members. We even had to get out of the lounge after trivia or bingo so the diamond class could use the lounge, leaving other passengers to try and find another place, mostly all full. Read Less

Cruised on the voyager of the seas on a 14 night South Pacific cruise. Was notified when we all boarded on sail out day that there would be a Major itinerary change and that the ports of Port Villa, Mystery Island, Lifou and Mare were now canceled due to the coronavirus scare. The cruise would now be re-directed from the warm South Pacific and Travel south to Cold Tauranga NZ and Eden south coast. A lot of disgruntled passengers due to the fact that RC didn’t choose a suitable port in a warmer climate such as North Queensland? Or no offers of reimbursement. That been said if anyone is reading this please take into consideration the RC ‘unlimited drinks’ package also is consumed by a lot of irresponsible cruisers. At Ike’s we felt that we were on a P&O party ship rather than a family cruise. Smoking area was situated right next to kids pool and spa with literally hundreds of smokers at any given time sucking down their cheap duty free smokes. Cruise had no atmosphere right from the get go with no band playing at sail out party or any sail out parties for that matter, which was a first from the 10+ cruises we have done sailing out of Sydney. Found the majority of the staff were quite jaded given that after talking with a lot of them the majority of staff were nearing the end of their 7 month work contract. We cruised on the Radiance of the seas 12 months ago and found the difference between the 2 ships was like cruising with a different cruise line, the 2 ships are similar size, however the voyager has around 1000 more passengers which made it near impossible finding a table for breakfast or lunch in the windjammer eatery. Disembarkment was a similar issue, also found all the deck chairs around the pool were taken early with people claiming them with their towels but not necessarily using them and the pool staff certainly didn’t police people reserving deck chairs. Also similar issue with the Pig and Whistle Tavern and the Cafe Promenade were always busy with a lot of elderly doing jigsaw puzzles etc in these areas and taking up tables for large extended periods of time and not being able to get a seat most of the time. The Gym on this ship is a joke and given what the Gym looked like before the recent renovations is somewhat of an insult. I found that this cruise was terribly pushy with a feeling of it being very overcrowded, the entertainment was below average, the food repetitive and found that this cruise had no atmosphere compared to the many cruises we have done beforehand. The Voyager has now made me reconsider how I Holiday now as I have done a cruise every 12 months since 2005 and this was the first cruise that We haven’t enjoyed. If you are considering doing a RC cruise just remember that the bigger the ship doesn’t mean better. If you have children then Carnival Cruises are the way to go they are more family friendly the food is better and they practice responsible service of alcohol with capping their drinks package at 15 per day. I am not used to write reviews, I only do it when the product is really good or in this case when the product or service is bad and even more in one of the most important moments of your life that was our wedding day. We wanted to marry in a cruise ship, so the one that suited our dates, was the royal caribean, voyager of the seas departing from Sydney the 23 Jan 2018 With months in advance, we organise, all details with a wedding planner all communication was through emails and some through the phone, when we wanted more details this person did not reply the phone, we called her immediately from a private number she replied (this happened several times, not professional at all), even that all wedding details were sorted. When we boarded the ship, had a meeting with the wedding planner at the ship (different at the one we coordinated by phone), we thought that all details were passed on to this lady, first deception, she mentioned that we had to follow the standard vows (when we spent a week defining our own vows with the lady at the phone) We requested to catch up with the photographer the day before the wedding, even that the wedding planner said all had beeing organised and there was no need. The wedding day, we supposed to receive the flowers (a bouquet (bride), rose (groom), 2 roses (parents) and 2 bracelets (parents)) but we did not received 1 set for the parents, we thought it would look really bad giving flowers just to one side of the family, so we requested urgently the missing flowers and they said the ship cannot provide the extra flowers, as they have already ruined our wedding we requested a refund for the flowers. After the ceremony when we were taking the group photos, the photographer (that we paid for 2 hours) was not ready at all, all improvised, he was looking for a ladder and left all guests (more than 30 of us) waiting in the main stair, and when we asked him for good backgrounds in the ship, he did not know …. We pay $700 for 2 hours of photos and we had just to choose 30 photos …. expecting the photograper or the wedding planner to define this places, and we were the ones directing the photographer and even telling him from which angle to take the photos, after couple of days we met him to choose the 30 photos, he said out of 600, he chose the best 120 … it was a total deception to see our photos, they were really bad. So the wedding day and the memories were really bad. I found really poor the way to manage the changes, during the 10 days sail, it was cancelled 2 island and they decided to go to luganville instead, they offered transport to Champagne bay for $60 transport + $15 entry fee, when outside the ship the transport was $20 tranpsort + $5 entry fee to the beach, I thought that the company could offer that service for free to compensate the passenger for the cancellation of 2 islands, and even more the company wanted to profit from us. When we were asking for water, they just provide 1 600ml bottle per person even we were already paying for the drink package, Royal caribean water should be free. After the cruise we head home, and expecting the company to refund the money for the flowers, but that money was refunded to a different person and when we asked them they did nothing. We have had much better experience with Princess. Read Less

Royal Caribbean has really let itself down badly. No extras to make it a nice cruise...such as bottles of shampoo, lotions or shower caps, chocolates on bed. Ship geared towards children. All movies were children's movies except for the odd and I do mean ODD 3D movie with Tom Cruise as the star. Waited in dining room for over an hour after ordering for meal to arrive, gave up and raced to Windjammer, where we ate for the rest of the cruise. Food here was bland and monotonous . Lots of beef and chicken stews which were turned into pies the next day . Found a lot of the staff were arrogant (especially in the shops) and reluctant to assist. Had card replaced constantly as unable to access room ( even after one card use). A lot of people were complaining about this problem. On deck meals and activities were left off program sheet. I don't call spa seminars activities. No activities except for art lessons which finished after our first cruise. Trivia and Bingo seemed to be the only other things to do. Scrapbooking was non - existant. It was advertised to sell a scrapbook to do by yourself. Shows were repeated on the second cruise and some were so bad that we did not bother to go again. Being a diamond member only offered the free drinks in the Diamond lounge at night, 2 bottles of water and a small bag of cookies on arrival. Royal Caribbean has disappointed me so much that I will use other cruise lines in future (although I do have one more cruise with them that I booked earlier in the year). The Ice Skating show was wonderful. Read Less

The food was very ordinary and not well presented at all. Buffet food was like you would see in a hospital cafeteria. Far too many people on board, very crowded everywhere you went, lifts, hallways, venues, bars, Windjammer, queues everywhere. No value being a Crown and Anchor member, as we were, (cruised once before with RC), the only benefit was if/when you bought something (which we didn't want or need) you got percentage off. Movies in theatre and on deck all geared toward children. No movies on suite TV's unless you paid for it or they were years old. Lots of programmes on TV in foreign language. Other cruise lines have modern upto date movies on TV all day for free. No benefits (unlike other lines we have cruised with) for being in a suite. Benefits as in complimentary canapés/fruit brought to suite, free internet, free laundry, free mini bar, etc etc. No chocolates on pillow at night. No wine glasses in suite, no writing pads/pens in suite. I know this is not earth shattering but these are the little added extras that you get with other cruise lines and you look forward to and make your holiday just that little bit more enjoyable. We have cruised with many other lines and will DEFINITELY NOT BE CRUISING WITH RC AGAIN!! All drinks highly overpriced especially after AUD conversion. No room to sit in adults only area, towels placed on chairs from early morning, no checks made by staff. Smoking allowed anywhere on decks. sat down twice on deck 12 above pool in open and smokers sat down next to me, so had to move. Staff did nothing about it even after complained several times. Service very slow in MDR, staff very impolite on many occasions all over ship. No pleases or thank yous. On positive side, most of the entertainment in main theatre was fairly good, especially the Aussie ones. Couple of the comedians and magicians were woeful. Casino slots were dreadful, RC must have made a mint out of them. All voluntary I know, but 5 credit payouts after 20-25 hits was daylight robbery!!! We will NEVER cruise with RC again, we will go back to cruise lines that care about their paying customers and give them the amenities, benefits and enjoyment that they are paying for and reward high paying cruisers that pay for staying in suites!!!   Read Less

I have just returned from a Christmas cruise on Voyager of the Seas to the South Pacific To say it was a disappointment is putting it mildly. The food in the main restaurant was of such poor standard that most people opted for the Windjammer buffet (half of the seating was closed off nearly every day) and was closed from 3pm to 6.30pm. The menu hardly changed for the whole cruise and there was no special menu for Christmas day at all. Breakfast was always the same. The temperature of the hot dishes was nearly cold most of the time. The queue for espresso coffee (to be paid for) meant a wait of over half an hour sometimes. There was no provision for specialty morning or afternoon tea. The lifeboat muster on the embarkation day was a laugh. The crew checked the cabin off but did not cross off the number of guests in each cabin. Hopefully in the event of a real disaster the system would have improved. This is my eleventh cruise and the first with Royal Caribbean and will be the last with them. Embarkation procedure worked efficiently probably because of the online checkin. Debarkation was efficient, probably because everyone was anxious to get off this ship. Read Less

This was my fourth cruise, having previously sailed on the Celebrity Solstice, Radiance of the Seas and Sun Princess. By far this is the worst ship I have ever been on. When I first embarked I was impressed with the ship and it's fresh look following a massive renovation. Our stateroom was excellent and so was the stateroom attendant. Then it started.... Time for my first queue - trying to get a drink, next queue.....at the door of the windjammer, next queue....lifts.....and so it continued. Queues and crowds EVERYWHERE. Other ships always has somewhere you could go to get a seat....not this one. It appears RCI have got greedy and added staterooms to take passenger capacity from 3100 to 3800. Whilst doing that they took away a bunch of public areas including the nightclub, the cinema and the sports bar. We had nothing but crowds for the entire cruise. The kids....oh the kids.... I adore kids but not 1200 of them running amok.....not so much. They were everywhere - in the lifts, the bars, knocking on people's stateroom doors all through the night, phoning random stateroom at all hours, stealing from people's suitcases on the last night when people put their stuff our for disembark meant. I ever saw some underage kids stealing peoples drinks whilst they had their backs turned. Reports to security we futile. Meanwhile their parents were getting drunk on their unlimited drinks packages. There were plenty of feral folk punching it up - I even witnessed a fight on Day 1 over a seat in the Windjammer. RCI photographers were in your face the entire time, even blocking the doors in areas to "trap" you for a photo. Food quality was sub-par. Dining room was hit and miss. Chops Grille was good but the Windjammer was terrible (except for the curry). The staff were awesome considering they are overworked and underpaid. The itinerary and ports were good but the general crowds, feral passengers and disrespectful kids killed it for me. A serious waste of $12k. Never again RCI - not worth the stress. Back to Princess for me. Read Less

We are senior, experienced cruisers. Most of our cruising experience has been on Princess ships. We joined this ship immediately after it had undergone a major refurbishment in Singapore. It was a re-positioning cruise to Sydney. It was a good fly/stay/cruise deal so we thought we would try a RC ship for a change. Well, NEVER AGAIN!! Firstly, we waited several hours to board because several hundred drunken passengers from one of the ship's suppliers refused to leave (why didn't they just call the police??), plus they had fouled the ship with vomit etc. and that had to be cleaned up. The balcony cabin was very nice, once we managed to get there. But there was ZERO staff service provided. Nowhere to sit quietly and be served upon; coffee, drinks, snacks etc. You had to line up EVERYWHERE, buy your drink etc, then walk huge distances back to find a seat! The staff were incredibly incompetent and unbelievably rude! A Starbucks counter in the main dining area dispensed the usual garbage they call coffee at a high price. The food was very poor and always the same. Staff guarded the ice and drink dispensers with their lives, and diluted the drinks (orange juice etc) so much it was undrinkable! A huge queue of disgruntled passengers were lined up at the Customer Services desk, most of the day, every day! We, like many others, demanded a refund of our gratuities; I mean, gratuities for what? There was no service provided!!! Although we gave a good tip to our cabin attendant; he was good. There was a 'meet the Captain' Q&A session in the theatre. Most passengers wanted to vent their spleen at the pathetic "service". But the Captain didn't want to listen; he dismissed the complaints as 'teething problems' after the refit, and made fun of unhappy passengers. His view was that RC had spent millions of dollars on a refit, and now people want "chocolates on their pillows"!! How impudent of them!! The Captain clearly didn't give a d**n about what the passengers thought! Then, a week after we arrived back home we discovered that RC had continued to bill us for items well after the end of the cruise, items we knew nothing about. They did reverse the charges once we had taken the trouble and time to convince them that these charges could not possibly belong to us. They had promised to refund the pre-paid gratuities, but it took four months of our efforts to achieve this! Maybe RCC caters better for younger passengers and young families, as judged by the facilities (Waverider, climbing wall etc). But I would think ALL passengers like some form of service, and definitely not rudeness! No, never again for us! We called it the "Voyage of the Damned". BTW we just finished a 31-day Princess cruise. What bliss! Wonderful staff service, great food, plenty of places to go and relax, we loved it as usual! We'll stick to Princess from now on! Read Less
