This cruise was on a smaller river cruise ship of a little over a hundred passengers plus about 30 crew. Service was very attentive without being too intrusive. The crew, particularly the guides were very well versed on the history and culture of the area. We took every shore excursion possible and learned a lot about viticulture, history, art, architecture, local food and wine. It was a fully ...
This cruise was on the duoro river in portugal. We probably would have never travelled to this fascinating country except for this viking cruise. It was nice to have 3 days in lisbon to start.
We loved the tile museum and the tours of the sandeman wineries. the food was excellent and the crew was terrific! Exploring the harry potter bookstare was an unexpected treat.

Lisbon stupendous. Needs more time so recommend an extension. Coach to Porto for embarkation - very interesting. Ship=Torgil. The overall cruise couldn't be faulted in terms of service, food and free-flowing wine, Excellent excursions.
However, a very BIG worry is that this ship is not safe. It has mechanical/electrical faults which appear to be intermittent and we all know these are the ...
This cruise met our requirement to stay away from central Europe yet experience a part of the old world that we had not yet discovered completely. The air travel to and from overseas I could do without. Even though we had up-graded seats the space was very tight in both width and knee room. The food left a lot to be desired. There was a problem with providing our travel documents and they did ...
We cruised on a river cruise with VIKING TORGIL from july 28th to august 4th 2016. it was our first river cruise on we enjoyed evry moment of it. We arrived in Lisbon for a two night stay before the cruise, the Hotel Tivoli is very well situated so we can walk evrywhere in the city from the Hotel...Lisbon is very nice city (great food, very clean, etc,). The tour included with the cruise in Belem ...
We cruised the Duoro River of Gold, which was my Mother's choice. Beautiful Scenery, wonderful food, plentiful wine with meals. Staff was very attentive and friendly, ship was lovely. This was my first river cruise, and I did expect the age range of the passengers to be on the older side.
There are nice tours in each port, but know that there are buses involved each time, and some rides are ...
'Newbies' for river cruises and Viking - great experience from beginning to end. Two nights in Lisbon at the Tivoli Hotel was enough to savour the 'best of' (especially with a three hour Segway tour!). The trip to Belem Tower introduced us to the nautical heritage that Lisbon has developed over the centuries
Seven nights on the river immersing ourselves into the local culture, port, flavours, ...
We had a nonstop flight into Lisbon, were met at the airport by a Viking representative, and taken to the Hotel Tivoli centrally located in LIsbon. Everything went very smooth, as we have come to expect from Viking. We have visited Lisbon before so we opted out of a half day tour the next morning to go to the seashore with some friends who live just outside of Lisbon. We love Portugal and Lisbon ...
Staff were very accommodating, pleasant and efficient. Portugal gave us a very favorable impression, the people, scenery etc. Viking itinerary was quite interesting, in depth tour of an area of world that is a well kept secret.
Ship was very clean and had attractive decor.
The safety drill on first day was the most comprehensive one we had ever had, extremely well done.
Food on ship ...
Probably, my friends are getting tired of hearing about what a wonderful time I had, and having me whip out my phone to show a picture of this or that.
The ship was small, immaculate and well-designed. There was a shallow pool on the roof deck, which kept me sane. If it's hot, I have to get in water, otherwise I might've jumped overboard!
The cuisine was wonderful, like dining in a fine ...
