This cruise was our second with Viking having done the Rhine a couple years ago. I believe this was the first cruise on the ship TOR for the Danube after the Covid shut down. There were only about 49 passengers -- all covid tested and vaccinated. On the subject of covid, they tested (saliva) very day and left small collection tubes each day which you were to drop off to the main desk every ...

Never having been to Europe before nor done a river cruise decided on the Romantic Danube cruise at end of December. We have done a number of ocean cruises but this was our first river cruise. Having heard so many positive things about Viking we had high expectations. The first part of our trip the 3 day Prague extension was wonderful - viking host and guides along with nice hotel made for a ...

This is our 4th Viking River Cruise, and we chose this itinerary because although we had visited much of Europe, we had never been to these cities. I was quite concerned before the trip regarding the water level on the Danube due to problems last year, but there were no issues. We came to Budapest a couple of days early and did some touring on our own, including a fun up close and personal Tuk Tuk ...

From all cruises my wife and I have taken in the past, none of them hold a candle to the accommodations and friendly staff that we experienced on this cruise with Viking. I was extremely impressed with Viking Air and the staff members that met us when we arrived and those who stayed with us till we left. The 3 day precruise visit to Prague was also impressive, with the 5 star hotel ...

We had never been to that part of Europe, but were well aware of it’s history. We also had heard so much about European Christmas markets we wanted to see for ourselves. Our cruise included airfair,an upgraded room,at a great price.Service was first class from the airport in Budapest,to the airport in Munich, and everything in between. The cities we visited had incredible history and archtecture, our ...

First River Cruise Was Amazing

This was our first river cruise, so I have nothing to compare it to, but it was oh so very amazing! The customer service, all around, was great. The ship was the perfect size for our needs. Although we had a small room, it didn't matter as we truly only slept there. The food was great and accommodated my wife's pickiness. It amazes me that after just a few days, the staff knew our names (and there ...

Top notch experience all the way around. We were met at the airport as scheduled and the tour began without a hitch. Our cruise was unaffected by low water and we were able to complete our itinerary as scheduled. The Christmas Markets were great fun, we participated in every excursion, and met some ah-mazing people over dinner and drinks each night. Don’t miss Cesky Krumlov if given the ...

My teen daughter and I sailed the Danube with my seventy-something parents during Thanksgiving, and we all had a blast! We took most of the wonderful tours and ate most our delicious dinners together, but my daughter and I also enjoyed the e-bike side tour from Krems to Durnstein, and rode the metro in Vienna to as many Christmas Markets our feet could get us to in one evening- five in all! Our ...

It has been a month since we returned from our November 2018 visit to Prague and Danube River Cruise. We experienced the same low water levels that so many have commented on, this was out of Vikings control and we can hardly blame them for it. During our week on the cruise we transferred to three different ships, spend a lot of hours on buses and got to see some interesting truck stops on the ...

7-Day Cruise - 3 Ship Moves, Endless Hours on Buses - Complete Disappointment

Review for Viking Tor to Europe - River Cruise

The 7-Day Romantic Danube Viking River Cruise was not so romantic and definitely not stress-free. DO NOT BOOK this Cruise itinerary between August and December as low river water levels hinder ships from sailing and reaching scheduled ports of call. Less than a week prior to our trip departure we received a notice from Viking advising us of the potential of low river levels and that there might ...
