This cruise started as a river cruise but it was canceled twice so we opted for an ocean cruise. We heard viking was a notch above the rest which turned out not to be true. The cruise started out of San Juan we paid to transfers to and from the airport and were expecting an agent to meet us at the airport, nobody was there and not we are outside the security zone of the airport had to walk around ...
As always, the service staff was exceptional, from our arrival in Barcelona to our departure at Heathrow. The restaurant professionals were courteous, pleasant and friendly, unlike many of the guests. May I suggest hiring some entertainers and staff from the destinations being traveled. That was a feature that made our Russian voyage so richly rewarding.
Evidently, the Brits received a much ...
Lack of bonhomie among most staff towards passengers, more interested in talking among themselves than interacting with passengers. We got blank stares when asking questions, sometimes a scowl at buffet, missing servers at stations. Felt like we were on training cruise. Entertainment people were lovely. They had many jobs, performed all well, among only ones on board who actually did.
The spa ...
We chose this cruise because we loved the Riverboat cruise that we took back in 2017 and though we would try the ocean line.
The food and service was amazing -- rooms were lovely -- and I enjoyed the free wi-fi
The entertainment is geared to an older crowd - there wasn't enough entertainment and with a lot of wasted space on the ship -- I felt there should have been more to choose from. ...
Neither my husband or I had ever been to Athens, or to Venice. We have enjoyed past Viking river cruises, and this itinerary had no sea days, which he dislikes. We independently traveled to Athens two days early, a good idea since the cruise does not include any time there. We loved Athens, and as a bonus missed an East Coast storm that delayed many passengers who had booked air through Viking. ...
embarkation and disembrakation went well. It's a small ship so for the size the entertainment was good, food and service was good. The shore excursions were poor at best except for Olympia and Venice ( we arrived in Venice 12:30 in the afternoon by the time we went to Murano and Burano it was 2:00. We had to be off the ship by 8:00 am the following morning.
Venice being a walking city this left ...
We wanted to see southern Europe and thought it would be a better experience. The service was excellent, but the tours were only average. We had better tours and fun on our river cruises. Some of the ports were too far from the places we were to visit. This made the trip somewhat disappointing. The ship was not as modern as we expected. The tour guide in Rome was terrible. I don't think we even ...
All the hype couldn’t wait to cruise this line. The ship was beautiful, the staff and service was wonderful. Embarkment was ok except when came on had to leave luggage in lounge and claim later did own transfers. The cabin was Good but I have had nicer on other ships. PV1...Dining was also good not spectacular. The open table with wine pairings was the best. Manfredos was nothing special. ...
We choose this cruise because it was advertised as 2 days in Barcelona and 2 days in Florence. We were very disappointed because several months before the departure we were notified that we were only going to be in Barcelona until 10:00 P.M. This left us 11 hours to see Barcelona after an all night flight! We did not get to see Florence at all because you had to add on an excursion to do that. ...
We had cruised with Carnival and Princess before and this year went upscale to a Viking Med. Ocean Cruise with our brother and wife as travel partners. The positives: 1) Food was excellent, 2) Less crowds with smaller passenger loads. The negatives: 1) Simple requests required escalation to management. We had a plumbing problem with the shower, special requests for honor bar drinks, that took ...
