Over the past 35 years my wife and I have been on over 25 ocean cruises. We had sailed with 4 other cruise lines, but this is the first Viking Ocean Cruise. We chose Viking as they have a ship with a great deal fewer passengers. Not that my wife and I have anything against being with a large group of people, but we were looking for a less busy, noisy cruise and we thought with less passengers that is what we would get. One of the reasons we enjoy cruising is because we love meeting folks. I must admit: YOU MEET THE NICEST PEOPLE ON A VIKING OCEAN CRUISE!!! The people we met were people that we would want to met again and even spend more time with outside of the cruise. To begin; as soon as we walked on board the Viking Sky we knew we had made a good decision. The decor was relaxing yet very up scale. The entire ship made you feel very comfortable yet special as well. We felt this way the entire cruise. The cuisine was some of the finest, it was available at each meal, and it was available not only in the Main Dinning space, and specialty restaurants but at the buffet as well. The food was not only great, but the service was excellent as well. If you have not sailed on Viking I would strongly urge you to BOOK IT now and you will not regret it!! What really sold me was that we often saw the various ships officers including the ships captain eating beside us. In addition when you sail on Viking they include an excursion, usually at each port. My wife and I took those offered and enjoyed each one. The guides who lead the tours were very informative. Last, but certainly not least is the ships crew: One of the best my wife and I have experienced on any cruise previously. I even got to speak with the head chef as well as the ships captain when they were moving about the ship. All the crew, from the cabin stewards to the captain were open and friendly as well as doing an excellent job! Bottom line: We will make Viking our number one choice when it comes time to explore the world from a ship. We are seriously looking at the Viking River Cruises as well as from most of the passengers we did meet most had also been on a river cruise and were very positive on how we would enjoy them as well! We enjoyed Viking Reine cruise and wanted to try Viking Ocean cruise. Viking handled our flights, and transfers which went smoothly. The smaller Viking Sky was particularly enjoyable for us compared to the many larger cruise vessels we have sailed on with other companies. All the support crew - housekeeping, bar and restaurant staff, and Customer Service staff, were particularly friendly and courteous. The entertainers - classical violin and cello, and piano, were superb and to our taste in relaxing music. The gym was good. While small, it served me well and was not crowded. Looked at the beautiful Spa but did not take advantage of it, as we were too occupied with other activities. We did a shore excursion at each of the six ports and we found every one educationally interesting. Our interest in Archeology was sated with visits to many Mayan ruins, and the geographic differences in the smaller Carribean countries was also of interest. The on-board restaurants were top notch. Having the options of the specialty restaurants as well as the dining restaurant and buffet, make meal time choices difficult as they were ALL excellent in terms of quality diversity, and service. The whole trip was run smoothly by Viking from end to end. We will certainly take advantage of another Viking adventure in future. One suggestion we have is that some cruises we have been on offer ATM Cash Machine service on Board. This cruise did not. As we did excursions at every port, there was not always time to find an ATM on shore. As we wanted to provide adequate gratuities to the excursion guides and drivers, it was sometime a struggle having adequate cash on hand without an ATM. An ATM on board the Viking Sky would be an added value service. Read Less

Selected this cruise line after much research. We are in our 60's and wanted an experience that was easy, comfortable and well planned. We splurged and went for a Penthouse Jr Suite that turned out to be better than we had expected. Plenty of room for two people to lounge around in with outstanding views from the large veranda. The added perks to a room like this were very fun, they do your laundry (nice to come home with clean clothes) , supply a fully stocked bar daily and the restaurant tables available were outstanding. We are not the most social type of people and found that it was a perfect blend where one could blend in without having to engage unless you wanted to. We were very surprised at the quality of the food available . Healthy choices were always available and this will probably be one of the main reason we return to this cruise line. Another important concept that we were impressed with is how much "everything" is included...no nickel & dimeing here! Wine/beer generously served at lunch & dinner, popcorn at the theater and all amenities though out the ship. This being our first cruise we picked some pretty tame excursions and usually had a great experience, would not be shy about trying more exotic ones next time. A notable point was how clean and well planned this ship was...we came away with the thought that this is exactualy what a cruise should be like...they do virtually everything right. Although it was expensive we both thought that we got our money's worth and are already thinking about where we will go next !! Read Less

We chose this cruise to go to Cuba and were disappointed that didn't work out. Then we kept the cruise with the revised itinerary in order to see Key West. That didn't work out either as we didn't stop there due to rough waters. But the cruise was nice. Loved the lectures. Ship was nice. The main dining room service was very slow and they seemed understaffed. The other dining venues were much better. The entertainment singers were fantastic - very talented. And the lectures were plentiful and interesting. Shore excursions in Belize seemed a little disorganized, and I did not like eating chicken (on the bone) and rice on my lap in the tour bus. The Salsa excursion in Cozumel was a lot of fun and the visit to Chitzen Itza was very interesting. The embarkation and disembarkation went very smoothly. Viking reps were very friendly and helpful. We did not travel with children. Read Less

51st Wedding Anniversary trip for the most wonderful girl in the world. The Viking Sky is a beautiful vessel. The room stewards were very friendly and efficient, although we did lose our first steward because he was selected for the Round the World cruise and sent home on leave to be with his family before the extended voyage (the best of the best!). ( I showed him his home on Bali using Google Maps satellite imagery and we became friends.) Food service was excellent and we used the World Cafe for most meals- the staff and food selections fit us better then the other venues, and the ice cream and chocolate cookies were beyond description. We particularly enjoyed the Port Call briefings and the art, history lectures. The Met's "Aida" opera was a great delight and a pleasant surprise. Our off-ship tours were excellent, the Rhodes tour guide was especially good. The three Israel tours (Old City & Modern Jerusalem, Jerusalem and Bethlehem, and Nazareth & the Sea of Galilee) brought us both a sense of wonder at the Life of Christ and his time and place. were particularly outstanding. A port change from Ashdod to Haifa resulted in our included tour taking longer than originally planned, but a meal was provided off-ship, proving the logistics staff at Viking was on top of events. Oh yes, seeing Stromboli erupt during the night passage to Naples was a highlight of the voyage. Read Less

Ports and shore excursions are all included. Our next trip are already planned with Viking. There was a slight delay on the embarkation due to the guests disembarking at that point and time. We can’t say enough of the great service we have had from the ship’s crew. Our kudos to the house keeping staff for the great work they did as well as the waiters and waitresses for the excellent service most especially for the food service staff. Shore tours are well planned and included. There’s also other tours that you can do if you decide not to go on the ones that are included. Tour guides should be more knowledgeable about historical events or facts concerning the sites that are visited. Extra tidbits are welcome. Read Less

The spa was wonderful, going from the snow room to the steam room and back and forth, followed by the hot tub and the cold water bucket challenge was refreshing and soothing! The guides on the excursions were excellent and the places we went were wonderful. Montserrat was beautiful and inspirational. Loved Barcelona, great walking city and so much to see. Florence was delightful as well. Weather cut short our Monaco stop but we still got to go into Monte Carlo and up to the Royal Castle. Even though we had to leave Monaco early, it gave us a chance to actually sail during the day as every other sailing was at night. The staff of the Viking Sun were extremely friendly and we enjoyed every minute on board! Read Less

This trip was a 50th birthday present to myself and a first on Viking. They are very organized, from arrival to departure. We were amazed at the attention to detail. They definitely go above and beyond. The cabin was nice size, plenty of closet space. Loved the heated bathroom floor. We ate at all the restaurants. The food was excellent. I looked forward to gelato every evening. The winter garden was a wonderful place to unwind, have afternoon tea with scones and finger sandwiches. The extra drink package was worth the price. The excursions were also well organized and the headsets, which are provided, allowed everyone to hear the background in history of the areas we toured. The tour guides were from the area and well versed in local history/customs. I would have liked more free time in our destinations, but I do realize that they need to adhere to a schedule. The tours gave us just a taste of the local culture and left me wanting to come back to experience more. We had a great experience and can't wait to go on another Viking cruise. Read Less

Celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary with a Mediterranean Cruise. We chose Viking because of its comprehensive itinerary of 6 countries in 13 days. The weather was great and the pre cruise and post cruise extensions greatly enhanced the actual cruise itself. The pre cruise extension enabled us to meet, and make, new friends that we enjoyed when embarking for the cruise itself. The shore excursions were interesting, fun and educational at the same time. The ship's cabin was a comfortable size and we very much enjoyed the heated bathroom floor. The food was plentiful, tasty and had something for every; plus, the included wine for lunch and dinner was a very nice addition. The crew members were very attentive to our requests and eager to make our experience special. This was our fourth cruise and first with Viking, we will definitely book with Viking again. The ship size was perfect for a more intimate experience, and did not feel like one was traveling with a whole city of people. Would definitely recommend to anyone wishing to do a Mediterranean cruise. Read Less

My husband and I selected Viking because of the itinerary and we were celebrating our wedding anniversary and birthdays. This was our first cruise ship experience and we wanted to go with the best. Viking did not disappoint. We arrived and our cabin was spacious and comfortable. The housekeeping staff was attentive, on point and always ready to fulfill a request. We explored the ship and was taken by all the attention to detail in the design and decorative accents. Our excisions were planned and the Viking team made sure all the logistics were taken care of so we just had to show up at the appointed time and place to enjoy our experiences. This made for a worry-free enjoyable vacation. Arrival back onboard the ship included friendly greetings from the staff and a visit to the various cocktail lounges to recount our day with others we just meet on the tours. The food variety, quality and options ensured something different and the entertainment was enjoyable. We had such a great time, we have already booked another cruise with Viking!! Read Less

This cruise was for our 50th anniversary. We chose this itinerary because of the ports and number of countries that were included. Everything about the Viking experience is exceptional. They know how to make your cruise the very best it can be. We both felt that embarkation and disembarkation went very smoothly. The ship was very easy to navigate and it did not take long to find your way around. The Viking Sky is a beautifully designed ship. We thoroughly enjoyed our cabin, especially the heated bathroom floors. It is a very well laid out plan. The dining experience is outstanding. All venues have excellent and varied choices and the service is top notch. I especially enjoyed the Chef's Table. It was an epicurean experience. The entertainment and enrichment programs were excellent. All facets of service on the Viking Sky is superb. We thoroughly enjoyed all our excursions. However, we did have one glitch with an excursion but it did not detract from our overall experience. We are already planning for another Viking cruise in the near future. We will probably do a river cruise. Read Less

We choose the cruise because it hit 10 cities in 13 days. It was a great way to get a flavor of various countries so we could decide which ones to return to and spend more time. There were 420 employees for 850 guests! A fantastic ratio that ensured a very high level of customer service. Right from the start it was first class. Once we got our baggage it was less than 40 minutes before we were in our cabin! Unbelievable organization! We took an Alaskan Cruise on the Celebrity Cruise Lines and we had to wait in long lines for over 2 1/2 hours just to get to our cabin! Each excursion was very well planned and the logistics went off without a hitch. There was always a committee of ship officials to see us off for that day's excursion. Every time we came back from an excursion there was a welcoming committee with bottled water and a moist towel to refresh ourselves. For the Naples welcoming committee they were handing out Limon cello!! What a treat! Only negatives were that a few of the bartenders were not quite up to snuff. They seemed aloof and were very cheap in the shots they poured. If I ordered through a waitress the drink was well poured. Funny...why would that have been? Drinks were supposed to be free during the lunch and dinner times. More than once I went to the bar 1 - 2 minutes after the cuttoff time and they would not serve me without charging me! For real.....not really a warm cozy feeling there. They were also very rude about it. I felt like I was a criminal! There was also a time when I ordered a soda water with lime while watching the entertainment and they insisted on charging it to my room. I had done it many times before and they never asked for my room number. It was complementary. After all we paid you would have thought soda would be a freebee all the time no questions asked. Also the Gelato stands closed from 2:30PM to 5PM and then again after 9PM. So when we came back from an excursion we had to wait to enjoy a nice refreshing gelato! Food was outstanding with a wide variety of 5 different choices for where to dine! Alaskan King Crab at every meal hit the mark for me! They always had a choice of food from the culture of the port we were in. That was a nice touch. All the wait staff were cordial and made us feel very welcome. We enjoyed conversing with them and getting to know them, where they were from and a little about their families. It was quite neat to have them call us by name when they saw us. "Hi Mr. Joe!" Room service was also top notch. The first night I had two steak dinners delivered to our cabin after our 23 hour flight experience. They came cooked to perfection with wonderful sides and outstanding cheesecake! That was a nice way to kick off our dream vacation! We also enjoyed all the entertainment that was available throughout the ship. A wide variety of excellent choices from classical string duo to a wonderful pianist that played a wonderful selection and also requests. There was one time when my wife and I walked in and she started playing a song we had requested the night before! She smiled at us and nodded! We also made many friends! There were quite a few on board from the Pacific Northwest where we are from. Having the laundry room just a few doors down from our cabin was a real plus! We were able to monitor when it was available without much time or stress. The Spa was very luxurious. The Spa Treatments were outstanding! we had two massages, one the second day and one the 11th day. Perfect for keeping us fresh and relaxed. Having breakfast delivered to our cabin daily was great! We filled out what we wanted the night before and what time to deliver it. The next morning it was right on time and very fresh! Eating breakfast on our veranda was a treat! Every morning was like Christmas morning! We could not wait to open our curtains and take in the view of the new port! Monte Carlo was probably the most breathtaking although they all had their own appeal. We like that since the ship was not as big as the large ocean liners we were able to dock closer to the port! We highly recommend this cruise. You may pay a bit more than some others but it is well worth the investment! The spa treatments were first class and we never had to wait in line for anything! Job well done Viking!!! Read Less

We chose Viking after talking with friends who have done Mediterranean cruises and recommended a smaller ship experience, as well as doing some research on the best cruise line rankings. We were not disappointed!! The ship is amazing and comfortable. It is so easy to relax, or find things to do. What really makes the Viking experience stand out is the incredible staff! Everyone, and do mean everyone, is very friendly and helpful. Many of the waiters and bartenders knew our names after the first day and we had some amazing conversations with them about their home cities, working on the ship, ports of call, and our families. Amazing people! And the food was 5-Star! The chefs are incredible! This was our first time to Europe so we wanted to experience as much as we could in as many places as possible. That was why we chose to go on a ship, and chose this particular cruise with 10 ports of call. It was the trip of a lifetime! We did several of the included tours which gave a very good introduction to the cities, and then went off on our own exploration. Viking makes it very easy to get to and from the ship so you can explore as much as you like. We also upgraded our excursions in several ports and they were well worth it! Rome, Pompei, and Venice were some of the ones I would recommend looking into. The guides were all local and very good. The other great thing was that Viking had onboard historians that gave talks before each port of call. They were very entertaining and informative. It was also great to get the daily newsletter in our room with information on the next days activities on board and ashore, specific on excursions and times, and any specific details that we needed to be aware of in the next port. The overall experience exceeded my expectations on nearly every level! We are already looking into our next Viking cruise and have recommended them to all of our friends. It truly was the trip of a lifetime! Read Less

We chose to extend our cruise at the beginning in Madrid and at the end in Venice. Dining and tour choices were amazing. Embarkation was very smooth. The Viking agents were friendly and efficient. The ship was pristine and our cabin, a junior suite, was lovely. We never had any problems with dining, service or appointments at the spa, which I highly recommend! We really enjoyed being on an adult only cruise. The cultural opportunities were unsurpassed. There is a daily briefing informing you of the next day’s activities. The tour guides were very professional and many were teachers. Disembarking was very easy and getting to our hotel in Venice was no problem at all. There are so many opportunities for tours that going on this cruise several times is an option. However, we chose to see Scandinavia next. I must also say that I had the opportunity to see the ships doctor. No problem getting in and my problem was taken care of immediately! All in all, the best cruise I have ever been on. We will only cruise Viking! Read Less

The ship was beautiful, well put together, clean and not overcrowded. The staff and crew was Amazing, Helpful, kind, thoughtful and just plain awesome. The staff knew our names on sight and offered what we needed before we had to ask. We had a wonderful time and never felt overcrowded or pressed. The shore excursions were well organized but too short. On our own in Paris was spent in traffic and I would recommend getting into the heart of the city and dropping off the passengers so they can maximize their short time. Instead we got a bus tour in traffic. I would also recommend more time in ports to allow for exploration of destinations. Further some of the guides (Porto) were not great and our time the brought us to very rundown areas and not to the beautiful city. It was disappointing and the guide was not great. The Cartagena guide was amazing and was the guide for our Barcelona tour who, due to a bus issue, took a few of us on a walking tour through the old town. She was amazing.. Overall we enjoyed the ship, missed a port due to weather and we completely understand why and were not upset. Would have liked to have more time in London, Paris, Porto, Amsterdam and Barcelona. I also thought it would have been a nice idea to go through the Straight of Gibraltar during the day so we could see it. Maybe making an event out of would have been nice. The food was amazing and diverse and there was always enough choices to eat and enjoy. The wine and dark beer were plentiful and very good. The afternoon tea was also delightful! We never found it crowded in the restaurant, by the pool, or in the amazing Nordic Spa and that made the trip more amazing. Overall a wonderful experience, some areas for improvement, but we will definitely be booking a future Cruise with Viking. Read Less

We chose this cruise because we love cruising. We find this way of travelling very relaxing and at the same time interesting. You can visit many cities and have a general idea of all the places the ship stop. The ship has all you need to have a fantastic vacation time. We never have to wait for a table to eat. The restaurants, all of them are amazing. The chef Ivan, from Chile took really good care of us. He showed as the kitchen and we were surprised how everything was being prepare for each meal in all of the restaurants. The cabin was very comfortable, as well as the bed and pillows, but the best part in the cabin was the bathroom. Really big for a ship bath with warm floor. They have service twice a day to keep the cabin always tidy and clean. We love the entertainment, the 4 young vocalists were exceptional, same as the pianists and the 2 girls who played stringed instruments. We only were sad because the ship couldn't stop in Poland port due to weather conditions. The excursions were very interesting same as the guides, specially Helen in Saint Petersburg. We did some included excursions and some prepaid ones. We already booked a future trip to Egypt in a Viking river for 2021. We recommend the pre and post cruise extensions, both great options, we enjoyed them a lot. We value very much; the quality of service Viking has. Although we did many other cruises with other companies, this last one was overall the best ever. Thanks Viking crew and everyone on the ship for a great experience and a phenomenal vacation. We wanted to start with an ocean cruise that brought us to countries we had not been too before. Norway was amazing and the stops we made along the start of this trip were truly memorable. We did do some of the "optional" tours along the way and some of the "included" tours were also quite good! The restaurant experiences (food, seating, service, etc) were quite an experience, as everyone seemed to want two help and be a part of our experience! The Fitness Center was perfect, never too crowded and my wife's facial and both our massages were among the best ever! Our room was very comfortable and the staff (Clark and Ameline) were great as far as extra water, coffee, etc. Enjoyed the Explorers Lounge as it was close to our room and got us out and relaxing a bit! There was only one thing that I would not do again...the Malmouse Castle was boring (Baron ?) and we unfortunately had a couple from New York, who seemed to know more than the "Baron" and constantly interrupted his long-winded description of the "castle". The soup was not that great and the organic beer was less than enjoyable! Now, overall, this experience did nothing to dampen the great time we had as we enjoyed everything else on our trip and have booked the Ageatic Cruise for next year and have no qualms about going and enjoying! We've wanted to visit these countries for some time and have enjoyed a Viking river cruise. In addition, we preferred to travel on a smaller ship, rather than a typical large ocean cruise ship. The Viking Sky has a well-designed interior: the public areas, like atriums, are spacious and attractively decorated. Our cabin, while not luxurious, was exactly what we needed, as we did not spend much time in it. The variety and quality of food was very good, not exquisite dining, but one cannot realistically exquisite when they are feeding over 900 passengers. We believe that the food was as good as can be expected on a cruise ship. A group of four talented vocalists backed up by four very capable musicians provided most of the entertainment. Of the various shows they performed, we especially enjoyed their tributes to Abba and the Beatles. In addition to these shows, the cruise director organized game nights and comedy acts. We enjoyed visiting all of the ports. The guides provided informative and interesting background information on the locales we visited. The optional excursions covered a wide range of activities. We wished only that Viking offered more than one "included" excursion per port. An important feature of the ship for me was its fitness center which was large and well-equipped with elliptical trainers, stationary bikes, treadmills, resistance machines and free weights. The staff and crew provided amazing service. They were always friendly and showed interest in the passengers. Every one of them we met tried to make our cruise a pleasant satisfying experience. This cruise was a result of our excellent 2015 Grand European River cruise. We were impressed by the excellent service and attention to detail that is Viking's legacy. We decided to go on the Baltic cruise because of the reviews and responses from other Viking cruise passengers. We felt as though this cruise changed us from cruise passengers to members of the Viking family. As such, we have booked another cruise to the British Isles this summer to celebrate our 52nd anniversary. This cruise was beyond excellent. We experienced Iceland for five days before the cruise and that in itself was a remarkable experience. Viking booked us into the Canopy by Hilton right in the "old town" portion of Reykjavik. This hotel was fantastic as it was in the heart of all major sights and it the accommodations were impeccable. While in Iceland the Viking arranged tours provided us with an exciting view of the country; from the geothermal grid to the calming Blue Lagoon. After the smooth Iceland Air flight to Bergen we easily cleared through the airport with the assistance of the arrival Viking personnel. Our embarkation was very smooth and took very little time all because of Vikings' pre-planning. Our luggage was quickly transferred from the airport baggage pickup to our cabin without incident. The baggage transfer is a welcome event especially for senior travelers like us. Our cabin on the Viking Sky was comfortable and over the top with personalized service. We had plenty of storage space for our clothing and the balcony was perfect for early morning coffee while still in pajamas. We especially enjoyed the great food in the Dining Room. It was always prepared to perfection and was attractive on the plate. The Dining room and Buffet were always spotless and the attendants were plentiful. Service was great. We especially enjoyed Vikings policy of open seating which allows you to meet and enjoy other guests. This enabled us to develop friendships and collectively we decided to book another cruise in 2020. The on board entertainment was perfect for this type of cruise. The cruise historian was packed full of knowledge but started out as though it was a detailed college lecture. On the next presentation her briefing was spot-on with helpful regional history. She made our trip more interesting. We went on all of the included excursions and they were excellent. St. Petersburg was different as you could not just walk off the pier without a visa. We booked three additional tours beyond the included to see Peterhof Palace, The Hermitage and the Metro on Foot. These tours were excellent and gave us the chance to experience the Russian culture. While on Russian tours we were under the guardianship of the tour guide who made sure we did not drift away from the group. But even with these hindrances Russia was a beautiful visit. All of the other included tours were well planned, timed perfectly and was hosted by competent guides. It was very satisfying to know that Viking was taking care of you in each port city whenever you would see the red canopy hosted by helpful Viking guides. We were in Europe thirty some years ago to celebrate our boys graduating from college. Since we were unable to get there to see the wall coming down we purposely scheduled the train excursion to Berlin. This trip was a long day on the train but it got us right into Berlin to see all of the important sites. Our city tour by motor coach enabled us to see the major buildings and then it dropped us at the Brandenburg Gate. We were able to see the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, Check Point Charlie, and other major sites of interest. There was plenty of time to see Berlin and our train trip back to the Viking Sky was comfortable. This excursion to Berlin was perfectly planned by Viking. Viking takes this worry off your shoulders in cruise selection by allowing us to make all arrangements well in advance of the cruise sail date. Exceptional service, attention to detail and a high level of luxury are some of the major reasons we will return to Viking for all of our future cruises. Read Less

Fellow passengers were very friendly and the staff catered to our every need as if we were the only ones on the boat. The tours were run amazingly well considering the combined logistics of boats buses and hydrofoils connecting with each other seamlessly. There was little waiting or downtime. The tour guides were energetic entertaining and informative. They knew their stuff and enjoyed imparting their wisdom. The ship was immaculate and maintained fastidiously . The same can be said for the buses. The food on the ship was wonderful and without limitation. The coffee was not particularly to my taste but I guess you can’t have everything . I indulged on the steaks of which I truly enjoyed. On final departure we were surprised and delighted by members of the Viking staff walking us through the check in at the Copenhagen airport turning what is sometimes a confusing experience into a pleasant one. Its details like this that want to make sail with Viking again. To be totally honest l have to offer one small criticism - the maps of the ports of call issued by the concierge were pretty useless but we always managed to find a good one in the respective towns. All in all it was a great trip. Dw Read Less

I would like to comment on the excellent experience we had with my wife at Viking Sky. Before leaving, we had apprehensions regarding entertainment on board and the age of the passengers. We are not young (58 and 46 years old) but we knew that the average age was higher. The truth is that although the average age is higher, it was very nice for us to be on the boat without children or teenagers, without a casino, without photographers, without sellers of trinkets. the shows were of quality, the conferences very interesting, the first level gym, the extraordinary spa, the fantastic living rooms to read, the swimming pools with sun loungers available, the exceptional food both in the buffet and in the restaurant, always, and I insist, always with tables available for dinner, breakfast and dinners. This is our 15th cruise and we have used MCS, Costa, Royal, Azamara, Princess and Celebrity, and from all of the above we can say that Viking has been our best experience and best quality price ratio. We wanted to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary in a special way and our visit to St Petersburg was on my bucket list. Our trip did not start out too well through no fault of Viking. Our early flight was delayed 2 days so we missed early time with relatives from Germany. Our luggage arrived on the last day of the cruise and I lost my passport in Estonia so I was not able to get into Russia. But let me tell you how Viking eased the pain: 1. They offered to do our laundry every day for free 2. They kept track of our luggage, telling us where the luggage was at any time. 3. The gave us a voucher for ship expenses. ( they didn't have to do this) 4. The helped us get a temporary passport by organizing transportation to the embassy in Stockholm. I planned a special dinner with friends for our 50th celebration. The Director of Beverage found out that we had a special "old fashion" recipe and made it for our anniversary dinner. Also the ship provided a "bubbly" for the occasion. Word got through the ship and dinner waiters asked us if we wanted "our" old fashion at subsequent dinners! I can''t say enough about the superb support and empathy we received from staff, making what could have been a disaster into a wonderful trip! Read Less

Having been a loyal customer of another cruise line, but having recently enjoyed the Viking River Cruise experience, we gambled and took our 1st cruise with Viking Ocean. What a GREAT Decision. Viking ticks all the boxes for us. No photographers chasing us around the ship, no formal nights and no wasted ship space for a gambling area. The smaller ship with fewer guests was a welcome change and the enrichment lectures exceeded our expectations. Lots of space on the Sky for just sitting alone and taking in the view. The quality of the interior of the ship was just 1st class! Regarding the food, the lunches and dinners were well done (the breakfast were so similar that I would call this an area for improvement). The Sparkling Wine & Glasses delivered to our room on our 25th Anniversary was a surprise! With the exception of one photography tour in Iceland, all the shore excursions were well enjoyed by my wife and I. Although the cost of the cruise sounded high initially, when you factor in all the included excursions, alcohol at lunch/dinner, free bottled water, and all the other extras, we felt this cost was probably equal to or less than our past cruise line. All in all, we WILL cruise with Viking again and may find it difficult to go back to our cruise line of the past.... Read Less
