We have been on other cruises but since we went on our first cruise with Viking we have been on 3 others and have booked 2 more with Viking. The service on the ship is wonderful especially the people who took care of our rooms. The rooms were always kept clean. They made sure we always have clean towels. They always supplied us with limes and ice for our drinks at the time we requested. We enjoyed that we do not have certain times for any meals except the specialty dinners. We could choose a table for 2, 4, or six people for each meal. This way we were able to meet new people but enjoy sometime just enjoy ourselves when we wanted to. Service on the Caribbean Cruises could use some organization. Service can be a little slow sometimes. On our travels we have done 2 Caribbean cruises with Viking and this has been an issue that we do not have on their European Ocean cruises. We love that there is no photographer constantly taking pictures and then try selling to you. My husband and I enjoy history we love how Viking has historians on the area. We always something new on the cruise along with the excursions we take. I like that Viking offers one free excursion at each stop that gives you a general knowledge of what the stops have to offers. This gives you the ability to go off on your own to view your own interests you may have like taking a look at a museum instead of just one spot. Read Less

We'd done it before - take a sisters' cruise with Viking, and it was one of the most remarkable experiences we've ever enjoyed. We were nearly blinded with joy by the simple elegance of the ship, the beauty of the Mediterranean, and the lavish attention of the staff entire. We loved the Lanai, delighted in the choices at The World Cafe, and tramped our way around ancient ruins and cobblestone streets. It was our first ever cruise, and we doubted we'd ever have the chance to do it again. But we did, this past December. We escaped the Christmas crazy on the 11th and set out for the West Indies. But this time we would do it differently. So we headed off with our red luggage tags, swim suits, sun screen, and a mental check list of the things we'd missed on our first cruise. Our first was at The Chef's Table, where the night's theme was La Route Des Indes featuring the unique flavors of the Carribean. Then one by one through our trip we hit all the food venues like Mamsen's, The Restaurant, the Aquavit Terrace, the Pool Grille, and The Wintergarden. Our checklist included the Spa in the evening, the Snow Grotto, the Explorer's Lounge at sunset, room service at dawn on our veranda, and more. We even picked up a few unexplored options in case we manage a next time. And we...relaxed. Sure, we took in the beaches, the yachts, the cliff top views, and tropical rain forests, but we took it in with time to enjoy life together. We talked with others who agreed that ship life with Viking is one of its most outstanding features. And when we returned, we were full of beautiful memories of exceptional food, magnificent islands, luxurious attention to detail, and so very many varieties of rum punch. Read Less

Disembarked in San Juan yesterday and I’m on my way back to Reno as I’m writing this. I was invited to join some friends on this cruise and had no real expectations or spot on my “Bucket List.” The ship was fantastic and was tastefully decorated for the holidays. Food was mostly exceptional with a few off days in the Specialty Restaurants. The World Cafe (buffet) was unlike any other ship that I’ve been on. Excellent selection of very fresh and creative foods. Each night a different theme. While on the Amazon you were struck with the wonder of how these people survive. Tourism is certainly important as is agriculture. Viking delivered the best that was available in each port and at sometimes it was a bit uncomfortable. During the port talks each upcoming stop was explained in detail...pros & cons. It is important to heed the warnings and not wandering off with only one or two. People there are desperate for income. This will be a trip to remember and I so glad I went. Give it a try. Read Less

Food was recycled several times to the point that it got spoiled. I ate gummy shrimp first night at seafood buffet and got food poisoning and severe stomach cramps. Before ten day cruise was over got food poisoning three times. Most of cruise stayed within 50 yards of a bathroom. Most shore excursions were impossible to take as gastric problems existed. Every night at sea was very rougn but not Vikings fault. Service was mediocre which was surprising for the elite cruise line that Viking is supposed to be. This was second time on Viking and it will definitely be the last. Some waiters in dining room at night did not seem to care and service was marginal. When told that food was not good they just shrugged. Some staff and crew were super but a few bad ones spoiled the experience. Entertainment was marginal at best. One act was cruise director and another act was assistant cruise director. Everyone seemed to have several jobs. For the entire cruise it seemed that Viking was trying to cut expenses, most noticable in the food. Best entertainment was Lincoln Center String group. This cruise was definitely not up to Viking standards. Out of 65 cruises taken since 1070 this was the very worst! Read Less

This was our third cruise with Viking, one river cruise, one Adriatic ocean cruise. The ship staff from the valet to the captain were outstanding. Always friendly & helpful. The ship was great, too. Easy to navigate with lots of amenities. The size of ship is perfect for the ports we visited during the cruise. The number of passengers is excellent without kids & needless entertainment. If you want casinos or shows, this is not your cruise line. The entertainment was outstanding. Excellent musicians & classy, comforting music. The food is consistently good, but after several days, the selection was getting limited. We ate at The Restaurant most of the meals, but also at Manfredi's where the food was outstanding. Bar area in Atrium on first deck is always fun. Now the excursions. We have been to about half of the islands on the cruise so we did not select excursions for Tortola, St Kitts, St Martin/Sin Maarten or Barbados. For our second day in Puerto Rico we did the Ell Yunque Rainforest which was a good excursion. Guide was very good. We did not leave the boat at Tortula. At St Kitts, we taxied to the Carambola Beach Club instead of a cruise excursion. Relaxing time. In Dominica, we did the Freshwater Lake & Hot Pools excursion. Our guide was very good, but the lake & hot tubs were pretty disappointing. In Barbados, we got a taxi tour with another couple. It was one of our favorite onshore day having visited The Crane Resort at Crane Beach, a cross-island tour & a visit to the Sandy Lane high-end resort & golf course. Over the top in luxury! In St Lucia, we did a cruise excursion on a catamaran & lunch at The Ladera Resort which was over the top, too. Beautiful view of the Piton peaks & a great lunch. This was by far the best Viking excursions for the cruise. In Antiqua, we did the Amazing Antiqua cruise excursion. Our guide was very knowledgeable & friendly, but the tour was lots of boring driving. The Shirley Heights & Nelson's Shipyard were interesting. We have done St Martin so we stayed on the ship. Our last day was in St Thomas & we took a taxi to Megens Bay beach which was very pretty & relaxing. Overall, a very enjoyable cruise. We will do more Viking cruise in the future. Read Less

The Viking embarkation and disembarkation process were fast, efficient, no hassle, no long lines. From the luggage area to and from the airport, Viking representatives were always at hand. Such a smooth and relaxing process! Everywhere at the ship, cabin, spa, dining areas, evidently portrayed ELEGANCE and LUXURY! Our penthouse veranda cabin was always kept clean and the refrigerator stacked with water, sodas and snacks. Our room stewards were always on their toes! So impressed with their efficiency. The Atrium Bar and Explorer’s Lounge were our favorite hangouts due to their excellent service! We were constantly at the Atrium Bar to order drinks and stay for an hour or two talking to other guests, and to amazing Carlos and his wonderful staff. The classical music was much appreciated. Pablo, the incredible guitarist, was our favorite entertainer. The tea time was a great addition to a relaxing afternoon. Dressy casual was required at all dining venues and at the theater except at the World Cafe. We appreciated the complimentary excursions. The sites were well planned and the guides were so knowledgeable. Viking’s high standards far exceeded our expectations! The best service we ever encountered in a cruise line. We were so pleased with our first Viking cruise that we already booked our next one for August 2020. Read Less

We had a group of 12 of us. Some were experienced cruisers and we were not. It was good to have someone with us. We did every free excursion each day. Most days we did 2. One bucket list day for me was the Americus Cup Sailing Regatta. It was amazing. I will say that you need to be sure you have good shoes. I had a sandal that was not good for the team work I did as part of the crew. Our favorite couple day was the all day sail around St..Kitts. We enjoyed every excursion. Our waiter for dinner each night in The Restaurant was great. He knew our names within one evening of our dining. We had great meals every night. We ate lunch and dinner in the World Café and the food was great. I had hoped to have a good meal at Manfreddie's but not that night. The Chef's Table restaurant was a set menu for each night. Food was good but we missed having our waiter from The Restaurant.. Everyday we attended the port talks. each night we either went to the show in the theater. There were great shows each night, Very talented singers. Dancing Under the Stars was a fun time too. Each of those activities always had free champagne and snacks. We used the atrium each evening before dinner to listen to the entertainment and played cards with our group. Our service was excellent. We are definitely cruising again. Read Less

We had sailed Viking River but wanted to try the Ocean cruise and we are so glad we did. Beautiful ship, fabulous food, great service, friendly staff. The room was a little small but extremely comfortable and clean. I am planning to book our next cruise with Viking Ocean to explore Europe. I would like a little variety in the nightly entertainment with more upbeat music in the lounges. The piano music was a little dark and intense for a lounge. The staff was some of the best in the industry and the food was 5 star. I would and have recommended Viking to cruise friends. We enjoyed the ship so much we only took 3 of the complementary excursions. You can always find a quiet corner to read and relax. Decorated nicely for Christmas. Thank you for a lovely vacation and we look forward to sailing with you on another adventure . Read Less

This was our first Viking Ocean Cruise, it will NOT be our last. We have done many ocean cruises over the years, about 26 or so. The Viking group know how to give service and do it with a smile. During the entire cruise there was NOT one time when we ever came across a staff member that did not have a smile on their face. The food was great, the service was incredible, the ship it self was fabulous. I have to say from the time we arrived at the airport until the time we left to come home, there was ZERO complaints from any of us, there were four of us. The rooms are very well appointed, the bathrooms were amazing. The showers were top notch. You know the old saying, you get what you pay for, well, we did..... Viking is a little more money, however, if you sit down and look at it apples to apples, it really is a great value. Beer and wine with lunch and dinner in included, they did not scrimp on what they gave you. We received one FREE excursion in each port, they were well organized and gave you a great experience of each port. I totally recommend everyone try Viking. It was amazing. We enjoyed the fact there were no children on this cruise, not that we don't love them, just need adult time, which we had on this cruise. There were so many different things to do during our time on board, we never had an opportunity to be board. Read Less

Overall, an excellent cruise. We stopped every day in a new port (except for cancellation of Dominica due to political unrest there, and back to St. Lucia for the day.) Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. With only one exception, service was fast, courteous and efficient in the bars and restaurants. We often encountered the crew, including the ship's captain, around the ship. Dress was casual; no formal dressing at all, which we liked. The ship was spotless. Cabins and public areas were meticulously cleaned throughout the ship. We appreciated the hand-washing sinks available at some restaurants. We were told the ship held 910 passengers on this trip (max would be 930) and we never felt crowded. Only one night did we encounter a queue for The Restaurant, but we didn’t have to wait long at all. There are many places around the ship to sit and read, or have coffee or a drink in peace. Entertainers in the Atrium were excellent. Food was fabulous, even the buffet food was hot and fresh. We did find the shore talks to be rather less than helpful. The visual presentations could certainly use improvement. Usually there was just a static map displayed with no indications of locations of attractions or routes to be taken for excursions. Excursions were, for the most part, very good. We did most of the included excursions, which were easy and generally quite short (2-3 hours). We did some optional excursions as well. We loved the St. Kitts Scenic Railway tour. Harrison’s Cave in Barbados was very good. However, the Sentry Hill by Sky Explorer Chairlift on St. Martin was expensive and a colossal waste of money. It was a 4 ½ hour excursion starting at 8:30. We were driven to the Chairlift (a 20 minute ride), waited a few minutes in the very small museum, then enjoyed the chairlift ride to the top and the stunning views. At the top there were various viewpoints and a cash bar. Our excursion included lunch at noon at the restaurant at the bottom of the hill. That meant we had 3 hours to kill, either at the top or the bottom of the hill. We opted to leave just after 10am (we’d taken all the photos we'd wanted and more) and take a taxi back to town rather than wait another 2 hours for lunch. We could have done this trip much cheaper on our own. One strange thing we encountered was when the ship was sailing (which was only at night) occasionally we felt the ship shudder and shake dramatically, enough that we shifted lengthwise in our beds and were awakened. It happened most nights, sometimes more often than others. We’ve been on many cruises (9), on larger and smaller ships, and have never encountered this. It may have been that our stateroom was close to the bow on this trip and the shuddering was caused by the bow of the ship hitting sporadic larger waves, but we didn't feel that the seas were rough at all. In any case, it certainly was unnerving. Read Less

Like many, we'd done several Viking River cruises and wanted to try their ocean voyages. I was not disappointed. First, embarkation: We've taken ocean cruises on a couple of other lines, but the embarkation to Viking Sea was the easiest and fastest I have ever experienced. I braced myself for waiting in a long line and climbing a vast gangway into the ship, but we walked into an empty cruise terminal, went to a table staffed by several helpful people, and had our keycards in about a minute. Then we walked about ten yards through the door to the ship and up the shortest gangway I've ever seen and into the ship. Embarkation time, maybe ten minutes tops. Our cabin wasn't ready, so we went to the World Cafe on deck 7 and hung out, waited on by friendly, welcoming staff. We relaxed with a light lunch and then explored the ship before heading to the cabin. We also dropped in at the spa and fitness center to sign up for classes and make appointments. While this is a smaller ship category, passenger to space ratio is excellent. I never felt crowded or had to wait in line for anything (if there ever was a line, it was short and moved quickly). The atrium was decorated for Christmas in white and gold that complimented the light woods of the ship's decor. There are many spaces to simply sit alone and enjoy vacation, but also spaces to meet with others, listen to live performances, eat, drink, read, play games, or what have you. The library was large, full of books, and also had a bar with drinks and snacks. On this cruise, I tried every single venue (which I hadn't done on other lines--I usually find what I like and stick with it). On Viking Sea, we dined in the main restaurant, buffet, Manfredi's, Chef's Table, and the Wintergarden for tea. In all, service is wonderful and the food is outstanding. Manfredi's wins the prize for best food on the ship, with Chef's Table a close second. We went to Manfredi's twice and Chef's Table once, but I'll book a second (or third) Chef's Table next time. It's a set menu at Chef's Table, but it rotates every three days. The only food venue I didn't try was the pool grill, and that was only because I wasn't in the mood for a burger or salad. But I heard other passengers raving about it, and it was very popular. The pools were beautiful and refreshingly uncrowded. All bars had plenty of seating, especially the Explorer's lounge, which has two levels of seating, plus live music and a full drink menu. Torshavn, another bar, was the scene of some of the enrichment lectures, which were excellent. Both lecturers were good speakers and knew their history. I learned a lot from them and enjoyed their talks. If you have to miss a talk you particularly want to see, they replay them on their internal TV and you can watch in your cabin. Excursions: I did a few of the included excursions, which are terrific if you need an overview of the island / town, especially if you've never visited before. Tour guides and drivers were full of historical information, and there was always a snack or glass of rum punch at the end of the road. The excursions were focused on history and culture, not duty-free shopping. I took several optional excursions, and all were high quality and fantastic. I particularly recommend the Rainforest gondola ride on St. Lucia and the French cooking class on St. Martin. My husband did the Spice Cooking studio on St. Lucia, and he thoroughly enjoyed it, and highly recommends it as well. I also loved the Tastes of San Juan tour in Puerto Rico--our guide knew so much about Puerto Rican history, and the food was fabulous. Cabin: We stayed in a Penthouse Veranda cabin (not a suite). It was more spacious than I expected, with a fully stocked refrigerator (no extra charge!), a fairly big bathroom, comfortable beds, and lots of storage. The two cabin attendants kept the place sparkling clean and quickly brought us anything we needed. One thing that struck me about this ship was cleanliness. I don't think I saw a speck of dirt or a smudge. There were people cleaning constantly. During our voyage, we had to skip the port of Dominica, because they were having elections and demonstrations and their port authority had closed the harbor to cruise ships. So at the last minute, we had to change and return to St. Lucia for a second time, which I think was a good decision. I was impressed at how efficiently and seamlessly the Viking crew and staff reorganized the whole day so that passengers could take more excursions on St. Lucia. They must have been working their fingers off behind the scenes so that the cruise continued without a blip. We did not use Viking for our pre- and post stays (we came in a day early and stayed over night after disembarking), but we were able to purchase a private transfer to our hotel via Viking, and were driven to our hotel in a luxurious SUV. I will note that this is not a family-oriented cruise, nor one with huge shows or a casino. It's quiet, relaxing, and non-pressure, but high quality and destination oriented. It is an "all-inclusive" fare, which means almost everything is included (wine and beer, stocked refrigerator, room service, fitness center, sauna, etc). The only extra are gratuities, any spa treatments (e.g., massage or salon services), and whatever you might buy in the onboard shops. All food is included! This means everything, including the specialty restaurants and the wonderful gelato. I would definitely take this ship again, whether on this itinerary or a different one. It has been my most pleasant ocean cruise experience to date. Read Less

We chose this cruise for the itinerary and island destinations. This was our first cruise so we only had online research to help us. Once we were onboard and speaking with other guests -most of which were Viking Explorers which means repeat guests- we knew how lucky we were to have chosen this line. No up-sell. No one in your face. Attentive service with amazing food. Every port included a free excursion which helped to educate the guests about the country, local population and tour some of the sights. The cabins all have balconies. Repeat, all. They are lovely with enough room to feel at home. I admit, we had sticker shock when we saw the price compared to the discounted competition that floods the internet and our emails. Again, we learned what the Viking experience provided versus the unexpected pay as you go options. We enjoyed the adults only atmosphere with luxury spa facilities of which a large part were free to use as you wish. Specific treatments etc were pay as you go. The entertainment crew was creative and beyond talented. Something for everyone and at various times to suit personal schedules. We will definitely choose this line and travel method again....they have so many options... Read Less

We have taken 3 Viking River Cruises and thoroughly enjoyed each one so we wanted to try a Viking Ocean Cruise! We chose December because cruising in the Caribbean would offer us sun and warmth. It was an amazing experience from start to finish. The embarkation was was very efficient as was the disembarkation. No stress! The ship is beautiful and very passenger friendly. There are no inside cabins since all passenger cabins have a balcony. The ship was very comfortable and provided passengers with many different places to read, chat or play a game. There were many and varied excursion offerings. We did most of the included excursions and they were very well done. Tour guides were friendly and knowledgeable. We enjoyed many of the different entertainment offerings! The entertainers were very talented. There were also speakers who provided interesting and informative lectures. Our meals were delicious with several available options. One of our favorites was the American Barbecue on the Aquavit Terrace. You must enjoy a dish or cone of gelato at least once a day! The crew was professional, friendly and very helpful. They would go out of their way to accommodate the wants and needs of the passengers. This was the most relaxing ocean cruise that we have ever taken. We highly recommend Viking Ocean Cruises. You will have the freedom to do as much or as little as you desire. Relax and Enjoy! Our 23rd cruise and first with Viking was most enjoyable , 10 nights around the Eastern Caribbean in and out of San Juan . Having cruised with P & O , Royal Caribbean , Cunard , Norwegian & Oceania before we felt it compared favourably with most of them with Oceania the nearest comparison . Loved the small ship feel , never busy , loads of space , never having to wait for a table and at times it felt like our own luxury ship . Adults only was a plus and sunbeds were always freely available , no having to rush for one on this ship . No casino or towel cards , water freely available , excellent drinks and included excursions were good . We paid extra for 1 excursion in Antigua and throughly enjoyed a catamaran trip with lunch down the west coast . Food was very good ( not quite Oceania standards but still very good ) entertainment was a little lacking but I guess that is because it is a small ship . Pablo the guitar was superb and the Viking band and singers were also very entertaining in my opinion much better than the main 4 singers . Very few complaints from us , the swimming pools are deep throughout so you cannot stand up unless very tall and the main pool area gets very very hot when the roof is closed but small issues . Staff are the happiest we have encountered on any cruise ship and there seems a great connection between them and the officers/senior management . Cabin was very comfortable although a little short on storage , but great bathroom with heated floor , excellent lighting and USB charging points by the bed . The only negative we would say is coming from the UK we had flights via JFK New York and these were very hard work , 2.5 hours getting through immigration going out and delayed flight coming back meaning we had to take a later flight back to the UK which was stressful and hassle . We would love to cruise with Viking again but would only consider the Caribbean again if we can get direct fights . This however did not spoil our cruise which was one of the best relaxing cruises we have been on and it was lovely not to feel herded about . Viking treat you as individuals and also as an adult ! We particularly enjoyed the music provided by the individual artists. They were all very talented and added to our before and after dinner hours. The steel drum band was FANTASTIC! We would have liked to spend more evenings in Torshavn, but by the end of the day, we were just too tired. The dining choices were magnificent. We’ve never been to any of the islands the West Indies cruise included, so because of that and the fact that we’d been on a Viking River cruise two years prior had us quite eager to try a Viking Ocean cruise. We were not disappointed. From flights, transfers, boarding, excursion itineraries and tickets, and settling into our room to the beautiful ship and it’s wonderful facilities, staff who would go to the ends of the earth to assist guests with any problem or concern (and always with a smile), a variety of restaurants where delicious food was always available, great entertainment (even current movies with popcorn), lounge areas with countless activities available at your leisure, to the wonderful excursions and on-shore opportunities. it was a dream come true and Viking did it with such class and style that we booked another cruise, The Viking Homelands, while we were still on board. The Homeland cruise has been on my bucket list for a while as my maternal Grandmother and her family immigrated from Bergen to Canada over a hundred years ago. We can hardly wait. First ever ocean cruise. Chose Viking because of an awesome French river cruise 2 years ago. The thought that went into this ship's design is amazing. The carpentry, the meeting coves and the spa additions are outstanding. Crew could not have been friendlier for the most part. Every time you passed someone it was "have a great day" or such. Room was excellent. The entire ship was kept spotless. Food in the Restaurant was very good except for day 1 - must have been opening cruise jitters. Buffet was always good with something for everybody. Our visit to The Chef's Table was a bomb out. Last seating of the night and I think the staff was shot. Basically we were ignored and the menu was more show than substance the night we went. Included beer and wine selections never disappointed. The included day tours (we went on all but one) were mostly being shoved on a crowded bus or van thing and driven around the islands with some decent lookout spots, but a lot of really lame stops as well. I didn't think Viking would dump you off at souvenir and ice cream stores as the main portion of a tour. Went on 2 optional tours which we liked, including a beach afternoon and a great train ride. You should be aware that the average age of guests is probably around 75 and on things like the walking tour in San Juan, we started out with 30 people and ended up with 4. Between the stairs and cobblestone streets a lot of folks couldn't handle it. I know most of the islands went through hurricane devastation 2 years ago, but sadly looking past that it was mostly ghetto tours - these folks are trapped in an economic nightmare and for no fault of their own, outside of the commercial resorts these are pretty depressing housing areas. When you get several huge ships in every port the tours are roadway bottlenecks.....you never have to feel alone. If this is ocean cruising it's not for me. The river cruise experience is a whole other world. Saw some of these other ships in port and they are just floating malls. Good job on the ship Viking, but a lot of work to do on the included tours. I had already cruised once before, 30 years ago and loved it. My husband had never cruised and wanted to "give it a try". He was over the moon and thoroghly enjoyed it and so did I. Absolutely amazing! Beautiful ship with so much space everywhere. Wonderful food and so many restaurants to choose from. Great excursions, although a couple of them not quite what we had expected and not really for us. But you learn as you live. Cruising the Caribbean, excursions on the water including swimming and snorkeling are definitely to prefer to any land excursions; mainly due to the very humid and hot weather we had. We met many very nice people and have now made friends for life. Very much enjoyed the musical shows in the evenings, very good quality and so entertaining. If I can make one remark: the air-condioning inside the ship was too much and we found it very cold everywhere. Not ideal when it's very hot outside. A shawl or jacket was definitely needed in the evening in the restaurants, well as far as I was concerned. We got a cabin upgrade just before leaving so had a most wonderful cabin with so much space and beautiful balcony (we had an Explorer Suite at the front of the ship). The housekeeping staff were absolutely wonderful and so friendly and helpful. In fact all staff on the ship were great! We enjoyed this cruise so much we have already booked another one, with Viking! From the moment we arrived at San Juan airport- to be greeted with a champagne reception- the cruise, crew, rooms, facilities, excursions and food were fantastic. This was our first ever cruise, and now we are hooked. Loved the attention to detail with the rooms and lounges on the ship. The crew were so attentive- nothing was too much trouble. Loved the low key entertainment- pianists, violinists, guitarist in the lounge areas. The food in all the restaurants was amazing- but we especially loved the Chef’s Table for challenging our taste buds and ideas about food. We did all of the included excursions- which are designed to give you a taster of what the island has to offer. All were great- with good to excellent tour guides. We paid for the St Kitts railway experience- which was worth the money- and we all had a great time. Overall the cruise exceeded our expectations. We never felt crowded on the ship. There were always quiet lounge areas if you wanted peace and quiet. The spa is brilliant- loved the snow room and jacuzzi hot tubs. The only negative was the post-cruise stay at the Caribe Hilton. We were taken to the hotel at 8:30am and not given a room until 4pm. With no secure place to store handluggage we had no option but to sit in the hotel lobby for 8 hours. Once we were allocated our room it was dirty with a broken safe. Housekeeping and security were sent to resolve the problem- but I would not recommend the Hilton- and felt it didn’t mirror the values and quality of Viking. It made a disappointing end to a fantastic cruise. Read Less

Wanted a Caribbean island experience on a Viking Ocean since we have loved the Viking River cruises. Infinity pool was magical. The Winter garden was so peaceful. Housekeeping went above and beyond with ice in our ice bucket every evening. They also took down the dividers on our balconies as we traveled with three other couples. So every evening before dinner we watched the sunset with our friends.Because we were a table of eight they gave us the private room at the specialty restaurant. The ice cold face towels were a daily treat as we came back from excursions and we were always very hot. Also they served extra champagne for the welcome and departure galas. The captain and the senior officers were often seen and engaged in conversation with us on several occasions. There was not a want or desire that was not attended too. We can’t say enough about this first experience with Viking ocean ad went ahead and booked another cruise with them! Read Less

I chose this cruise because I wanted a smaller ship. The ship was very nice, but the main pool only had the roof partially open so there was no breeze making it unbearable hot. The entertainment in the evenings was nice but needed more variety. The same 4 singers did shows 4 nights on the cruise. Two other nights were the cruise directors singing. Two nights (first and last) didn't have a show. The movie in the pool area was never used except for the dancing under the stars to show everyone dancing. It would be nice if they had more variety in the shows (comedian, impressionist, hypnotist, etc.). There were no cute audience shows (i.e. newlywed game) which can provide quite a few laughs. The included excursions were not great but paid excursions were awesome. The destination was the Caribbean so there wasn't much difference between each of the islands which may be why the included excursions were just ok. Each island seemed a repeat of the previous island. The service was fabulous and I loved the balcony. Also loved that it was easy to walk everywhere. Read Less

We came a day late due to an airplane malfunction. Viking was waiting for us at the airport and we arrived and check in on the Ship quickly and smoothly. We were on this trip after having taken the Grand European River Cruise last year. It was hard to live up to the service and excursions we had last year. The Ship was beautiful. The ports were very nice. We enjoyed the beaches at all of them. The included excursions were not very interesting. Too much driving, no walking, very little sight seeing or time when we did get out to see something. We ended up skipping the included excursions and going to the beach. The service was very good. The food was good but not excellent. We had great food in the specialty restaurants, which we ate in 3 times. Otherwise we would have liked to have more local food from the Islands. To experience their local fair. Read Less

The Viking Sea is lovely and staff was friendly, efficient and very caring about our comfort & satisfaction. We had a deluxe veranda room & space was tight, but bed was plush and comfy. There was more movement (rocking) on this ship than we expected given the favorable sea conditions. Included Shore excursions were mixed, some good and others only fair. Basically they provide an overview of each island. We also chose some optional excursions - 5 of the 6 were excellent and 1 was just okay. Aerial tram, champagne reef snorkeling, sailing to St John’s honeymoon beach, White Bay beach on Jost Van Dyke and rain forest hike in St Lucia were our favorites. Dining exceeded our expectations. Food was good with great variety. We didn’t take advantage of much of the entertainment onboard, but enjoyed one evening of music. Loved the Nordic bathing experience available in the spa, no extra charge. We are newly retired, and on this cruise many of the guests were older. We noted that the staff were very patient and caring toward those with canes, walkers, and wheelchairs. Read Less
