"Viking is attempting to earn a reputation at sea that matches the excellent one it has on rivers. While adequate, Viking could also step up their food options and quality a bit if they want to truly dominate the sea voyage industry...."Read More
This was our first Viking ocean cruise. We've been on a Viking river cruise previously, as well as numerous cruises on other cruise lines. The Viking experience was different than on the larger ships. With 900 passengers, the ship never felt crowded and we had no problem going to different venues and finding seats.
The ship is immaculate and very well maintained. The crew are very ...
We chose Viking due to their reputation and also because no kids allowed. Did our research and booked online with an agent who was very helpful. All things pre-cruise were above par.
Just under 2 weeks to go and we got an email that our itinerary had changed. We would be spending the first 27 hrs sitting in the port, not sailing. Bummer for us as we’d already tacked on 4 days prior so we ...
Viking offers the best in cruising by far, even almost perfect. The accommodations, cleanliness, and style are unmatched in the industry. Attention to details seems to be a priority. The crew and especially our steward were excellent.
I had a slight issue with the food. It was almost too generic. I would have liked more spice in my food. More pasta dishes would have made sense to me for ...
As always, service on Viking is top notch - great food, pleasant entertainment and extremely courteous/efficient staff. The Italian specialty restaurant is phenomenal! The Chef's Table menu was mediocre, though the wine pairings were fun. Having a different port every day maximizes exploration opportunities. I like that Viking offers an included tour in every port . . . most of the tours we ...
We chose this cruise because we had not yet been on a Viking Ocean cruise or been to the Mediterranean or Adriatic Seas; this particular itinerary offered numerous stops my husband and I were both interested in seeing. There were a couple of excursion glitches early in the cruise, but they were definitely eclipsed by the overall excursion quality, tour guide expertise and general Viking ...
We chose this cruise to visit Venice, where we had not visited and to return to Rome, Florence and Barcelona, where we previously had traveled.
We did the three-day pre-cruise extension in the Italian lake region and the two-day post-cruise extension in Barcelona. Both extensions were highlights of our trip.
The most disappointing stop was Venice. From the Viking Sea, we had a 90+-minute ...
Ship was beautiful, staff amazing. Food was great. From the time our plane landed Viking staff was ready for us. I have never been on a cleaner or friendlier ship. There was always someone there to help you with what ever you need. The bar tenders worked all the bars so it really was a place where everyone knew your name. That was a great special touch.
A few draw backs it seemed all bars ...
Overall, it was a great cruise. We had sailed on other lines and greatly enjoyed two Viking river cruises, so we thought we’d give one of their sea cruises a whirl. Glad we did, yet unsure if we’ll book another sea cruise with Viking. We’ve experienced better.
Our major discontent was the food. It was lackluster at every dining location. We tried them all at various times of the day.
Besides ...
This was our 4th Viking Ocean cruise and we have been very spoiled by previous cruises. However, the service on this ship did not come up to the standards we have come to expect. Not bad, just not superior. Previously, our cabin steward would quickly figure out when we would go to dinner and would do the evening service while we were gone.
This time, we would come back and they would be ...
We chose this cruise because we wanted to see certain cities such as Rome, Pisa, Florence and Barcelona. We were not disappointed , but wished we could have spent more time in those cities. As always, the service of the entire crew was outstanding - warm, friendly and attentive to every detail. We did not get to meet the captain who was detained by official duties. David, the activities director, ...
