It afford us the opportunity to see many cities on Europe's rivers. The cruise overall was fun, interesting and diverse. I wish Viking would have more opportunities to explore cities on our own. It seemed the only way to get to cities was to take an excursion. Wish there were shuttles to leave the ship just to go into town. If you did not do an excursion, you were stuck on the ship. Viking ...
This cruise had been postponed since 2020 and it was worth waiting for. The Grand European Tour took my wife and I from Budapest to Amsterdam and along the way we saw many beautiful towns, cities and castles galore. We also made some very nice new friends--a result of "no-fixed seating" in the dining room--whom we have kept in touch with and will be visiting in the near future.
The food on ...
My husband and I are 70-ish and in pretty good health, although I do have some mobility issues (I use a rolling walker for longer distances). We felt this cruise would be a good way to see a nice selection of European cities in relative comfort.
Our travel to our point of embarkation was NOT well arranged. Our wishes were not honored and our itinerary was, in consequence, ridiculously long, ...
For lots of reasons we booked this Grand European Tour for mid October. We had a great time, but decided we probably won't do another river cruise right away, maybe not ever again. Not a knock on Viking, but a better understanding of who we are as travelers. So, the good and great. Incredibly clean, inviting atmosphere populated with helpful, gracious people, all of whom try to make your trip ...
We had talked with friends and casual aquaintances about a river cruise and were recommended to take this one. We decided that Viking provided what we were looking for. We enjoyed the overall experience on the ship with the exception that my credit card was compromised and I believe it happened onboard. The ship was excellent in terms of cleanliness, cabin appurtenances, room size, wifi, etc. ...
March 31, 2019 on Viking Magni River Cruise Budapest to Passau. First suggestion, do your homework. We booked a French “Balcony” (sliding door) on 3rd Fl. Very small. Just enough room for a double bed. No chairs so reading or TV is lying on bed. Small bathroom. Very efficient but claustrophobic.
Room has fridge but only useful for bringing in shore beverages or food. Hint. Don’t ...
Although we have taken many cruises, this was our first river cruise and our first Viking cruise. We were very impressed. It was so nice being on a smaller boat with just a few hundred people. We felt like we got acquainted with most of them. The service was outstanding! Everyone on board was delightful with deal with- any question was answered with a smile. I especially like the excursions. Each ...
We picked this cruise (Amsterdam to Budapest) because we felt we should take a longer cruise if we're going to fly all the way from the West Coast to Europe. It's beautiful ship, the cabin was wonderful (perhaps my favorite of any cruise we've been on), and the service was outstanding. Our only complaint was the dinner. First, we would prefer an earlier dining time. Beyond that, it sometimes ...
My husband and I decided in July that we wanted to try and squeeze another cruise vacation in this year and August, 2016 was wide open for us. Viking had availability on the Elegant Elbe tour, leaving from Berlin and going to Prague. Because we booked so last minute, we got a great deal on our flight from Seattle to Berlin returning from Prague to Seattle for only $200!! The pre and post ...
Each port and Viking tour at each port was OUTSTANDING. The crew on our River Boat was very helpful and I must say they all went out of their way to please the passengers. This was our first river cruise and I must say that one sees sights that we would never see cruising on one of the oceans. My wife said it was like taking a train through the center of town. I only rated this cruise with 4 ...
