We chose this tour because we could travel through Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Hungary and Czech Republic. Viking Gefjon is a beautiful ship with an outstanding, attentive crew. Our cabin was always fresh and clean every day, dining was delightful with many delicious choices as well as meeting friendly travelers, entertainment was fun and engaging, and our ship director Terry was over the top ...
brochures and promo not accurate. We knew low bridges would restrict us from using the sun deck at time. But not for days on end. We knew at some ports of call we would be double and triple banked. It happened too many times to be comfortable. So don’t get a Balcony. All this information should be spelt out and told how many times it would happen. in the promo.
Cologne was the only port we had ...
I chose this cruise because I wanted to see Germany and especially Neuschwanstein Castle. The trip included cities I had always wanted to see and the included excursions were perfect introductions to the towns we visited. The accommodations were comfortable; cozy but not too cozy! It was so wonderful to be able to unpack and enjoy the trip...unlike touring by bus where you have to repack every ...
I loved everything about this cruise (except the weather which was cold and rainy). Our cruise went from Budapest Hungary to Amsterdam. Castles, vineyards, beautiful scenery, churches, shopping, history, demonstrations-so much to see and do. Our cruise director/stand up comedian/singer was positively amazing and multi-talented. He coordinated all the activities and shore excursions so ...
We wanted a small ship cruise in the spring to this part of Europe. Viking was recommended by a friend so we booked the Grand European Cruise. The daily itinerary was busy enough to meet our exploratory and educational needs and balanced with relaxation and down time. We loved the Thermal baths, the architecture in the cities and villages, the castles, the hikes, learning the history of the ...
Having never been in Europe before or on a river cruise, my wife and I were interested in experiencing a river cruise to see if we would like others in the future. From the Viking folks that met us at the airport and accompanied us to our buses to them taking us back there at the end of the journey, it was a marvelous experience. The ship was beautiful and a perfect size - our cabin was well ...
Found our 14 Night Grand European Tour for the time of year and price that suited us. I would take another river cruise in a heart beat. Little disappointed when the walking track was closed for days on end so I just had to find another way to get my 12,000 steps in per day. The staff on the Gefjon were awesome, loads of fun, it was just great to spend 14 days with everyone. The shore ...
This cruise was booked for my husband to spend his birthday on the Danube. We had fabulous weather, no rain for 17 days. Unfortunately we were cruising over Easter which limited some shore activities. The crew were great, very friendly and helpful. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. The food was good quality but a bit weird at times. They must eat some odd things in parts of Germany. We have done ...
We signed up for this cruise because it coincided with peak tulip time in the Netherlands. Despite the crowds Viking was able to provide access to sites that generally avoided the crowds and gave us a good insight into the people and culture of Holland.
Although a bit nippy at times the weather was excellent.
The tours were generally extremely well done - although in Amsterdam museums ...
The two week, Grand European River Cruise appealed to us much more than a weeklong cruise. We believed it would allow us to “settle in” without immediately counting how many days we had left. And “settle in” we did. We began in Amsterdam after a four day jet jag adjustment in Amsterdam. Embarkation was efficient and welcoming, and the wine tasting on the Aquavit Terrace was a grand introduction. ...
