Tulips! and Windmills!
"Antwerp, Belgium - We enjoyed the walking tour of the city that was highlighted by a visit to the beautiful Cathedral of Our Lady, which has three of Peter Paul Ruebens' most famous paintings among many works of art.The next morning we had time for a short after-breakfast walk in the area to admire the tulip displays before we transferred to the Einar, where we had lunch and spent the afternoon unpacking and getting to know the ship and people...."Read More

A wonderful way to experience the European traditions

We have taken this same route before, only during the summer. This was the first time we have done it during the Winter/Christmas season. To say this is the best cruise we have been on would be a tragic understatement! This cruise was absolutely wonderful! As always, Viking goes above and beyond. All our guides were native to the location we were visiting (the one in Strausburg actually lived ...

We had never been on a cruise before and my partner had never been to Europe. We wanted a way to see parts of Europe without having to plan much on our own and a Viking cruise seemed like the perfect way to do that. From the moment we stepped on to the boat until we left on our last day we knew that we’d made the right choice. We were treated with graciousness and made to feel like we were the ...

We had nothing to compare our cruise to as it was our first time on one, but we were not disappointed. It was great fun to be catered to and have every day essentially planned for us. Because our style of travel is much more casual than I think most cruises are we made the deliberate decision to not bring dress clothes based on reading lots of social media posts, and I’m glad we didn’t. ...

This was our first cruise ever, and we had a blast. We had arranged an extension trip beforehand, so we flew into Zürich where a Viking driver awaited to take us to Lucerne. We spent two nights in that beautiful city (in the same hotel where Mark Twain once stayed) and were guided by our excellent guide Katarina. We were then driven on a Viking bus to Basel and boarded the Einar. We stopped at ...

First, but not our last, cruise with Viking

The first reason that we were attracted to this cruise was the inclusion of admission to the Passion Play in Oberammergau, which had been delayed two years by the pandemic. As it only takes place every 10 years we decided that, at our ages, to wait could be risky. The second reason was that, despite being avid ocean cruisers, we had never taken a river cruise, nor had we been in that part of ...

This trip began with an extension to Oberammagau to see the Passion Play. The overall trip was excellent. This was the second time on the Einar - we had been on it in the Spring. The staff was different and much more attuned to the needs and desires of the guests. Some of the crew was on the spring run and they actually remembered us. It was nice to see friendly, known, faces among the crew. ...

I choose the Viking by accident but it was the best trip of my life. It values your money over and beyond. Everything and everyone were first class The cabins get cleans couple of times every day. The food is exceptional, the flowers on your breakfast table is different from lunch and diner they go to the smallest details for everything. The coffee and tea station always refresh and clean ...

We took the pre-trip to Como. IT was wonderful, great Tour Director Sam and wonderful tour guide. While there were some expected-unexpected situations, the tour director handled them efficiently and took care of the customers. Moreover, his narrative between Como and Basel was incredibly informative. Bravo Sam! Once we reached the main part of our trip on the ship in Basel, we ...

Viking did everything they could to mitigate the low water on the Rhine

We heard good things about Viking and we were not disappointed. The French balcony cabin was comfortable and was well appointed. The food was excellent and the staff were friendly. Unfortunately, the cruise was curtailed somewhat because of the low water on the Rhine. We couldn't dock in town for some stops and we had to go on a day cruise boat for the Middle Rhine part, but Viking did ...

Disappointed Traveler

First let me say, there are some things Viking does well and other things, as we've learned on this cruise, can be disappointing. This was a last minute deal that was too good to pass up although in hindsight, maybe we should have waited. Cruising during the summer in Europe is something we normally avoid and given all the airline problems, this would have been.a good year to not make an ...
