1-10 of 166 Viking Alsvin Cruise Reviews for Gourmet Food to Europe - River
This cruise was our retirement gift to each other. We had been looking at Viking for several years, and decided this was the best riverboat cruise line for us. We did put this off a couple of years to make sure that Covid would not interfere. We were not disappointed at all. The crew was the best and were very attentive to our needs and those of the other passengers. Kalin, our cruise ...
This is my 8th river cruise with Viking. Obviously, I do love the Viking experiences. I did discover on this trip that I do not particularly like staying in hotels before and after the cruise simply because there is too much loading and unloading of suitcases. That, of course, is just a person preference. The hotels were fine, although the Hilton in Prague was somewhat removed, resulting in our ...
I'm a fan of PBS and have seen Viking commercials for years. When the opportunity to take a cruise came up, I immediately decided to look into Viking cruises. The trip far exceeded my expectations and I have already started planning on my next river cruise.
The staff was extremely attentive, and I really liked that ships officers as well as staff were available throughout the day and ...
After 10 ocean cruises we took our first river cruise and it had its pros and cons. I knew it would be different
and low key but I didn't expect this.
Embarkation - Went smoothly, no problem getting on board.
Internet - Much like other cruises spotty at best
Cabin - We had a french balcony and it was much smaller then any balcony cabin I've been in before.

We were wanting to go to Paris and got the flyer in the mail. Had only heard good things to say about Viking, so took a chance and booked in December. Unfortunately somehow we got connected with a travel agent out of Las Vegas. Once we paid in January never heard from her again. Luckily Viking 800 # was so helpful cause this was our first cruise and told us what to expect. Excursions were ...
The Romantic Danube was the name of the cruise, that's the 1st reason we decided to take this cruise. Then the ports of call were the second reason. We were a little disappointed that a bus ride for all excursions was necessary to see the ports. We had envision getting off the ship and walk into town or city.. The worst was the Strassburg tour. A 9.5 hour excursion turned into 15 hours!! On ...
After reading many reviews of River cruise companies we chose this one for their high marks. We made our own flight arrangements because we had more control over when our flights were ticketed and for about the same price as Viking offered for Premium Deluxe seats. After reading all the negative and positive of letting Viking choose and make flight arrangements even with Viking Air Plus we felt it ...
We chose this cruise because of the locations visited and our desire to try a river cruise. This was our first trip to Europe and it was a check off of our bucket list. It exceeded all of our expectations and we can't wait to do another river cruise with Viking. Our only criticism is that Viking forces you to spend all evenings with strangers/company. Some of the other cruise ships offer more ...
I loved seeing the castles and wine regions as we sailed through Germany. Stops in small towns with cobblestone streets and gingerbread houses for city walking tours were fun, as was our excursion which included a wine tasting. We tasted authentic German food both on and off the ship, and learned about the country of Germany from expert lecturers.
One aspect that was not ideal were the ...
Another wonderful Viking River Cruise. We chose this primarily to experience the stops on the Main and Moselle rivers and to explore Prague. We liked that the itinerary included 2 hotel nights at each end of a 7 night cruise. We extended at both ends for a full 3 days/4 nights each in Prague and Paris. A little more bus time on this river cruise compared to some others - primarily for the ...
