POOR VIKING RIVER CRUISE

Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on Viking Idun

We would not recommend Viking river cruise. Dealing with Viking Air was cumbersome and time consuming. Nickel and dime air charges: $100.x2, $166.50x2, $24x2, $50x2, $20.x2. And no refund on any, some being Viking mistakes, some just illogical rules. Food was poor, most guests we ate with agreed. Customer blogs before this cruise commented on poor food and Viking chose not to fix this ...

BUYER BEWARE

Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on Viking Odin

BUYER BEWARE!! Viking purports to be the cruise line that takes care of everything for you. You can't even book a cruise on line - you need either a travel agent or a Viking representative to do it for you. They take wonderful care of you.....Until you pay your money. Once you pay, you are on your own. We paid $18,989 for a 12 day Prague to Paris cruise. Viking took care of the airfare. We ...

Another wonderful experience on the Viking River Cruise. Meals were excellent with multiple choices. All the tour guides were knowledgeable and eager to tell you all the details of their city. Stephanie, our cruise director, was vivacious, fun, down to earth, willing to help everyone......a real people person. We loved the Reisling wine tour. It was so neat walking into the caverns filled ...

Cities of Light were very Dark!

We started poorly. The hotel in Paris was not able to have our rooms ready by the 3 p.m. deadline. Instead, we were not allowed into our room until well after 5 p.m. Our wake-up call did not materialize and thus we missed our assigned bus ride to our port of embarkation, Trier. Our cruise should have lasted 6 nights. Instead, the Odin broke down and we were stranded at a small German town - ...

Disappointing Trip on Viking Odin

On the previous week's sailing, the Viking Odin was stranded for several days in a small port near Frankfurt because of engine and electrical mechanical problems. for our trip, the following week, Viking decided to allow the trip to continue by staying at the boat still stuck near Frankfurt and bussing us to all the cities in Germany, such as Bamberg, Nuremburg, Rothenburg, Wurzburg, Heidelberg, ...

Viking Cities of Light Cruise; Extremely Disappointing

Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on Viking Odin

Our very expensive Cities of Light Cruise proved to a huge disappointment. The service crew and tour guides were stellar - God bless them every one. But the boat crew and management not-so-much. There were a number of problems that weren't properly addressed - some that began on Day One and continued until we disembarked. • Mooring locations o On our final night, we docked in a dismal ...

Viking Bus Tour from Basel to Paris

The ship did not ever reach its first destination so we were bussed to various sites each day and back to the ship at night. After five nights on the ship we were bussed to a hotel in Frankfurt for two nights and then on to Paris for the final two nights. The bus trips were up to twelve-hour days—mostly on the bus except for restroom stops, lunch and brief tours. *This was a make-up trip for ...

Worst trip EVER

WORST TRIP EVER. "Romantic Danube Tour" on Viking Idun. Daily tours were vaguely "organized" and lacked any depth or intellectual content at all. Unless you eat and drink A LOT and do not plan to enjoy any meals a shore, not a good value. They charged 3 euros for a soft drink in the middle of the afternoon. Drinks are only free during meal times. There is not enough time to see much of any city ...

Bad mistake on Viking cruise

We were looking for a great river cruise experience but it was a total disappointment. We had many ocean experience and because we saw the good reviews on Viking river cruise so decided to try the river cruise from Amsterdam to Budapest. What a big mistake! First, the cruise ship had absolutely no facilities except one lounge and one dining room which are extremely small and the décor was very ...

Viking River Cruises : does not do the right thing when things go wron

We, along with 188 other passengers anticipated our Viking River Cruise on the Idun departing Nuremberg on June 1. The cruise turned into a very expensive and deceptive bus trip through Europe. Unfortunately, the passengers had not done full due diligence prior to arriving to realize that the Danube river was ALREADY closed to river traffic and the ship would NOT be able to depart the canal it was ...
