The Cabin A was smaller than other Cabins I have had on previous river cruises. The service was great and the cabin was very well taken care of and in addition our cabin person made towel animals for us every day. The ports and shore excursions were very good but sometimes we didn't have enough time to investigate on our own and too much time, i. e., Trier, for personal time.

The cruise was an introduction to the German countryside and the small towns full of history and charm.
The excursions were appropriate, but there were too many castles to see. A couple of activity events would have given variety.

This is my second Viking cruise. The first cruise was a disaster for me as I am a vegetarian and was not accommodated at all well on the first cruise. This cruise could not have have more different. Our tour director, Claudia, met us in Paris and remained with us for the entire trip. She was always accessible, made sure everyone knew schedules, always informative and friendly.
I was disappointed that the boat did not dock within walking distance to the town at each port. It was so much more enjoyable when that was possible.

Great itinerary, food was best we have ever had on any cruise line. Cabin was adequate. Ship layout was easy to navigate. Tours were included. IOverall, great experience. The only thing that kept me from giving it a full 5 stars was the post cruise extension was extremely overpriced for what I could and should have booked myself. 1) Food on ship was excellent; exceeded expectations and we have been on over 30 regular cruises.
2) It is an excellent way to get thru 4 countries (Czech Republic; Germany; Luxenburg and Paris France) without knowing any of the languages.

The Hotel in Paris - Le Meridien was being renovated and you could hear all the work being done early in the morning above us. We had the furthest room from the elevators and took 20 minutes just to get to the Lobby. Hotel breakfast was good. Hotel Staff was attentive. Everything else in Paris was lovely. I have done three other Viking River Cruises. My first disappointment was with the Air Dept. with British Airways chosen as the airline of choice to get to Paris from Denver. Because the pilot decided not to depart Denver on the designated day and had to wait for a part to fly in from London, I missed one night and a whole day in Paris. Our first river cruise. The hotel in Paris (Le Meridien) was nothing special, small room looked a bit worn but Prague Hilton was nice. It was hot in Paris/Germany/Prague during our trip. The A/C in the ship's dining room had some trouble keeping it cool during dinners but our cabin (Veranda Suite) was always cool. Most of the tour guides were excellent.
