Our ship was berthed in Moscow for 3 nights the last cruise of this season.
We had a portside cabin. We were in front of the main terminal building which was in process of being refurbished. Next year it will be beautiful, unfortunately for us we were looking at an ugly construction site with piles of trash & garbage. If we where one berth over on either side we could have been looking at green ...
Our 3rd Viking River Cruise was in Russia. On the Viking Truvor. The ship is nice, the rooms are nice.. It was exactly what we have experienced in the past.
But food!!!! was a very different experience.. One we will try to forget very soon!!!.. The offerings were just plain cheap.. Canned tuna, TILAPIA!!! (Possibly the dirtiest and worst fish you can ever eat) Roast Turkey?? etc... If this is ...
This was our third trip with Viking and the second River cruise. Unfortunately this experience did not meet our expectations based on previous cruises.
First the Good:
The waitstaff in the Dining room was excellent. By the end of the cruise they knew who we were, more or less what we wanted and were overall attentive. One evening I lost an earring and just assumed that it was gone. When we ...
We just returned from Waterways of the Tzars with Viking and although the trip was enjoyable there were several problems with the cruise. The boats in Russia are not nearly as nice as the Longships Vikings uses in Europe. They need to be updated and reconfigured. The public spaces are tiny and bar area are so small that they cant hold everyone during lectures and briefings. The outside common area ...
Having cruised with Viking before, we expected the best for our Russian experience, and we were not disappointed, with one notable exception.
The Akun is smaller than the Viking Long-ship that we had sailed on before, but accommodations were excellent.
The food was well above average when compared to other river and ocean cruises. Our chef stated at the start of the cruise that his ...
A fascinating trip taken in mid September and we also enjoyed the pre and post stays in Moscow and Helsinki. Julia the Viking tour manager was a delight and the team of tour guides were very engaging and interesting too. The on-board lectures were well delivered and full of detail. The Russian lessons were fab! We enjoyed the ports of call which were explained in detail on board beforehand and ...
Dear Leighites,
Thank you so much for reviewing your voyage on Viking Truvor. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed many aspects of your trip. However, we are saddened to learn that the...
We received outstanding service in the dining room....personalized. friendly, caring staff.
Our cabin was comfortable and clean.
However, we had some complaints about this cruise;
*One of the included shore excursions was a ballet performance. I was excited when I found out we had box seats...but that excitement faded when my husband had to STAND FOR THE WHOLE SHOW...because he could ...
We wanted to see the inland area of Russia as well as the bigs of Moscow and St P. To that goal- Mission accomplished. You should already know what you are getting when you book a river boat cruise, so if you miss the gym, casino and choice of clubs shame on you. But the whole level of service is just a notch or two below what was expected also. After 12 days I still could not tell you my ...
Arrived in Moscow to be picked up by Viking. Headed out to the boat to eat and sleep. Moscow is a traffic nightmare. The activities were great once you got there. We saw the changing of the guard in Red Square and sampled caviar in GUM Department Store, the Kremlin, and walking tour. Those were the highlights of Moscow. Cruising down the river, we had plenty to do with touring and classes in ...
My Husbands wish was to go to Russia. He loved every minute of the cruise, I was not as thrilled. Service was wonderful, our room was fine and the balcony was excellent. The food was very good. The amenities on the ship were fine.
The last two days on the ship we were in St. Petersburg, and the disappointing aspect was that I could no longer enjoy the views from my balcony because a ship ...
