Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on Viking Alsvin

The time that we spent inPrague was great. The Viking staff and hotel was excellent. On the river we were disappointed that the top deck was not available for over half the trip because of low bridges. If this was known, perhaps another cruise would have been chosen. The highlight of the river cruise was the castle’s that we saw the last day. Some of the side excursions could have been more ...

We wanted a river cruise for the relaxing and interesting experience. The Viking cruise on the Elbe River did meet our expectations as to interesting ports and a relaxing cruise. However although the quality of the ship, the Cruise director and ship service staff were wonderful, the cruise did not meet our expectations on a couple of issues. The entertainment on ship was not the best. We had ...

We are two retired college professor in our 70s, and this was our first river cruise. I cruise a lot, on Crystal, Seabourn, Celebrity and Princess. We would not river cruise again. The Good: The crew on this ship is beyond wonderful. They do everything in their power to make your cruise worry-free and enjoyable. I particularly enjoyed the lounge piano player George, who added a welcome source ...

Wonderful Introduction to River Cruising

We chose this itinerary because I was interested in the recent history of the area covered by the cruise---World War II, the Iron Curtain, Glasnost. I was reminded of the profound effect that the Soviet occupation had. Along the way the tours, usually lead by locals, were relevant and engaging. We were given enough free time at each stop to wander on our own. Adding the two days in Prague and ...

Lots of Bus Riding

Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on Viking Odin

For a purported "river cruise" there was way to much riding on buses. Two days were spent getting to the boat and then going to our departure city, Paris. Plus during the cruise there were long bus rides to Heidelberg, Rothenberg, and one other city whose name I forget. The boat itself was well laid out. Our cabin was more than adequate, with nice touches such as a heated floor in the ...

My first cruise ever. We were treated wonderful for the most part on the Oden. The food was great! The cabin was more than adiquite and the boat was wonderful. Going down the rivers were great. We did encounter a problem in the service the last evening we were there by the servers. They were usually servicing a group of ladies at thier table and another couple came and sat there, we joined ...

We were notified 2 days before the cruise that the Elbe was low and the ship could not cruise. We had cruised with Viking before and loved it. The Prague Hilton was a luxurious hotel in a poor location. It was a 30 minute walk to the Charles Bridge and the Old town. Our walking tour did not show the attractions well at all. Frankly we spent too much time on buses. The stops and tour guides ...
