As expected, all of the Viking staff were very helpful and responsive and provided exceptional service. Additionally, the ship (Herja) was in excellent condition, clean, and comfortable.
This was our second Viking cruise, 2014 being our first. I was surprised that we needed to bus between Zurich and Basel. More surprising, and quite disappointing, was the 6.5 hours on the bus from Trier to ...
I was sick most of the time and had little to no access to meds. I came home with Covid. Testing and meds were not available on ship. The ship was nice, clean and rooms well appointed, if not very small. The weather was cold, so the balcony wasn't really used. The food was good and the cruise director was excellent.
The staff was very friendly (except for front desk), remembered names and ...
We chose this cruise for holiday market and seeing the charm of Paris and other towns. It was disappointing as we only visited a couple markets. The optional tours were disappointing except for Normandy. Not sure why Vernon was selected as it was a little bleak. Optional tour sightseeing Paris was a mob scene in the high end shopping district. I would rather have walked thru affordable stores ...
My husband and I (retired, 65 and 70) have been indulging in high end travel since we became empty nesters, but our last cruise was in 1997 with kids. We’ve been receiving catalogs from Viking for years and this year the lure of unpacking only once was strong and Europe at Christmas was enticing.
On the positive side -
We booked our own travel and made our way to the Magni without any ...
Listed as a Christmas Market cruise docking at places I have visited before, I expected the emphasis to be on the Christmas markets. I expected on board education sessions, at least one, on the long history of the markets and how each one is unique with the same underpinnings. Educational moment on the foods served at the markets would have been appreciated. Biggest disappointment was paying ...
My primary reason for selecting this cruise was to get a French experience, as well as touring the Normandy Landing sites and graves. I had heard great things about Viking Cruises and thought this would be a good opportunity to experience them.
First the good - Viking is a premier line, and everything about the ship, food, service, rooms, common places, was top notch. They aim to please ...
This was our first River cruise. Celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary. My husband had read so much about Viking so we booked departing Amsterdam Nov. 12, 2023 for the 8 day cruise to Basel. The crew was exceptional, cabin was nice. The food was ok, cold most of the time. In the brochure it states no waiting in lines and that what we did most of the time. We thought that once we got to a ...
Partially due to inclined weather conditions, the cruising part of this trip has been dramatically reduced. Majority of the excursions fall under the side of 'a bit boring' category. Fortunately, we booked the pre-cruise excursion that highlighted the whole experience, otherwise, the river cruise part alone would not earn my praise at all.
While the executive chef made the daily dinner ...
together with some friends we all decided to go on a Viking River Cruise. this was planned well in advance. this was a trip of a lifetime and based on Viking's reputation expectations were high. well nothing is ever perfect when traveling this trip did not escape glitches.
Pros: Viking picks you up at the airport and guides you to the ship (or hotel) and takes care of your luggage!

We chose this cruise for the itinerary but found the ports disappointing compared to our Prague to Paris cruise-City if Lights on Viking. The views on the Rhine cannot compare to the Main and the Moselle Rivers. Also the ports weren't nearly as interesting. The newer ships are nice but our room was very tight. We upgraded to a French balcony but we could barely get around the end of the bed. We ...
