We chose this cruise because we were able to see so many beautiful cities and travel down three rivers in a relatively short amount of time. Additionally, most excursions were included--which is not the case on most cruises, and the excursions were wonderful! Since the ship was small, in most cases we were within walking distance between our ship and our destinations, which made it easy to go ...
Coming from Hawaii I wanted to see as much of Europe as I could and I like the idea of unpacking one time. The smoothness of the river journey made the trip even more enjoyable. When we on board we didn't even know we were moving. Except for the stunning scenery passing by. Visiting the towns, castles and countryside were exhilarating. The meals on the boat were exceptional. It made coming ...
We enjoyed out first Viking River cruise ,The Grand European Tour . We wanted to go to China and Viking had the places and cities we wanted to see. Beijing- The Great Wall,Tiananmen Square & Forbidden City along with the Kung Fu performance. We did the optional Peking duck dinner and the skin of the duck was soggy not crisp. We enjoyed the rickshaw ride and visit to the Hutongs tour. We loved ...
Our trip included a land portion and time on the river. The land portion was excellent!! Walking the Great Wall, seeing Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City is seared in our travel memory bank! Sailing on the Viking Emerald on the Yangzee River was unbelievably wonderful! Our cabin was great - I loved having a balcony to sit outside and watch the world go by!! The dining room service was ...
I had taken the Viking River cruise through Russia and thoroughly enjoyed it and thought that it would be a great way to see the highlights of China. The village of Lijiang was simply charming. I can understand why they call this place the reason for the trip being called Undiscovered China. The panda reserve was also another favorite stop. Getting to see little baby pandas out for the first ...
We had wanted to take a river cruise for a long time. After talking with friends about their experience on Viking, we decided to take one. We were not disappointed. From the meeting at the airport by Viking staff to the trip to the airport after our extended stay in Amsterdam, we were wonderfully taken care of by Viking staff. We really enjoyed the personal contact with the guides. Our on board ...
Worst cruise we have ever been on. Food was bland. Had beef tenderloin one night..couldn't cut it..too tough. Food was so unappetizing that we ate as many meals off the boat as we could. Miserly entertainment on board. Cocky wait staff in bar. Viking used to dock close to downtown spots so you could walk around. This trip, most dockings were in commercial shipping warehouse areas. Room was so ...
Our journey via BA to Bucharest was uneventful.
We stayed at the Athenee Palace which was OK. My wife did order Ravioli in Robertos restaurant there but was cold both times and she refused any more food then.
The Danube is a rather pleasant way to travel through these parts.
Viking Embla basically a smooth passage with only 2 locks, one at night.
Entertainment on board limited . ...
We had heard that Viking had wonderful river cruises, so decided to see for ourselves and were pleasantly rewarded. If it weren't for the interminable international travel aboard airlines, we'd do it again soon! Enjoyed all the cities we'd heard and read so much about, with extra activities to make it even more exciting. Thank you, Viking, for an exceptional experience aboard a beautiful ...
Outstanding service throughout the entire land and cruise. We had 7 days on land and then the 6 day cruise. The land accommodations were excellent at all premium hotels. The river cruise was fabulous. The ships are different and locally owned in China, but they were very nicely equipped. The food was excellent throughout - some authentic local and enough Western to satisfy most people. I felt that ...
