POOR VIKING RIVER CRUISE

Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on Viking Idun

We would not recommend Viking river cruise. Dealing with Viking Air was cumbersome and time consuming. Nickel and dime air charges: $100.x2, $166.50x2, $24x2, $50x2, $20.x2. And no refund on any, some being Viking mistakes, some just illogical rules. Food was poor, most guests we ate with agreed. Customer blogs before this cruise commented on poor food and Viking chose not to fix this ...

Another wonderful experience on the Viking River Cruise. Meals were excellent with multiple choices. All the tour guides were knowledgeable and eager to tell you all the details of their city. Stephanie, our cruise director, was vivacious, fun, down to earth, willing to help everyone......a real people person. We loved the Reisling wine tour. It was so neat walking into the caverns filled ...

Viking Bus Tour from Basel to Paris

The ship did not ever reach its first destination so we were bussed to various sites each day and back to the ship at night. After five nights on the ship we were bussed to a hotel in Frankfurt for two nights and then on to Paris for the final two nights. The bus trips were up to twelve-hour days—mostly on the bus except for restroom stops, lunch and brief tours. *This was a make-up trip for ...

Worst trip EVER

WORST TRIP EVER. "Romantic Danube Tour" on Viking Idun. Daily tours were vaguely "organized" and lacked any depth or intellectual content at all. Unless you eat and drink A LOT and do not plan to enjoy any meals a shore, not a good value. They charged 3 euros for a soft drink in the middle of the afternoon. Drinks are only free during meal times. There is not enough time to see much of any city ...

We, along with 188 other passengers anticipated our Viking River Cruise on the Idun departing Nuremberg on June 1. The cruise turned into a very expensive and deceptive bus trip through Europe. Unfortunately, the passengers had not done full due diligence prior to arriving to realize that the Danube river was ALREADY closed to river traffic and the ship would NOT be able to depart the canal it was ...

Overall Opinion: Considering all the points below, we will stay away from Viking and use other means to see Europe. For the prices they charge for their cruises, you can travel in first class on Canard's or other luxury cruise lines for the same or lower costs. Value ($) The cost of our 15 day river cruise was just under $17k. This is equal or more per day to the top tier luxury cruise ...
