"If I were rearranging this cruise, I'd leave off most of the Caribbean stops and have more time on the Amazon basin-maybe beginning and ending in Manaus.Everything considered, though, it was a really enjoyable cruise--I'd do it again on Viking...."Read More

We wanted a unique trip to somewhere that would be difficult to arrange personally. The Amazon satisfied this requirement. The small ship also was important, since we are not fond of thousands of passengers for travel companions. The staff made our party of eight comfortable in all dining areas. We particularly enjoyed the different relaxing venues and exercise and locker room areas. We arranged ...
We went on a river cruise with Viking and the opportunity and time became available to try an ocean cruise. The river cruise would actually my first choice from now on, but the Viking ocean cruise was by far the best ocean one I have ever been on. A 5 for sure, the river cruise was a 5+.The food was always fresh and tasty with care alway on neatness and cleanliness while being presented in such a ...
The Ship did not disappoint. The room was great, our room steward was accommodating and did a great job. The Spa service was a great benefit. Our excursions were interesting, and the on-board lectures and entertainment was top notch. We had a lot of dining choices for a small ship. The cocktail service was great. We were always greeted when we exited and entered the ship. If we had a request ...
The cruise staff was awesome. The ship was very nice and easy to navigate. This is our first Viking Ocean and really enjoyed it. The stops were hit and miss a little but thats not Viking's fault - we signed up to see the Amazon River. I think the Spa also stood out as a great experience and enjoyed the hot to cold. The room stewards were amazing as they stocked our bar, catered to any request and ...
I know I’m not a seasoned cruiser, but I will tell you this much: I will be back on another Viking ship. Everything was clean, the food was delicious, the staff couldn’t have been better…I seriously can’t think of any complaints. We had a problem with the ports we were supposed to go to (Amazon River was low), but Viking gave us an excellent experience anyway. We even got onboard credit due to the ...
I would have given 5 stars as it was a wonderful experience overall with one major exception. We were supposed to go to Manaus & other stops in Brazil, but the Amazon was at historic low water levels and couldn't be navigated. Instead of rerouting us to a coastal port in Brazil, we were taken to the West Indies. We had visited those islands with Viking the year before, so the repeat stops ...
I chose this cruise line because it's 18 and over. I didn't realize it was for retired seniors. We were a bit young, but we had a wonderful time. My daughter is 21 and there really wasn't much for her to do. I wish they would have had a club to go chill and possibly dance. But all and all it was fun. Everyone was very nice.
I would have loved to have been able to experience more of the ...
We are experienced cruisers in our early 70s yet on this cruise we felt positively young. Although we enjoyed the company of many passengers, the feeling we got was that we were sailing in a WASP old people’s home.
Embarkation with flights arranged by Viking has us arrive on the ship at 11 pm. We had to find our our way to our rooms, not shown any features of the room and felt very not ...
We chose this cruise because we wanted to see the Amazon River, the Brazilian rain forest and less-traveled portions of the Caribbean. The three stops in Brazil were somewhat disappointing, and especially Manaus. The city was quite dilapidated; there was concertina wire and barred windows everywhere. Passengers who stayed in hotels during the one-day extension were all advised not to travel ...
Going up the Amazon was a bit different than the usual Caribbean jaunts. Also the prospect of seeing Devil's Island was intriguing. Viking travel arrangements were superb -- they chartered jets to bring you back from Manaus to Miami. Three cheers for Viking. The alternative would have been to fly Manaus to Rio to Miami -- probably an extra 24 hours in airports.
The disappointment was that ...
