Panama Canal

Review for a Panama Canal & Central America Cruise on Viking Orion

We have wanted to pass through the Panama Canal. The actual transit was spectacular. Cozumel was essentially a tourist trap. Cartegena was nice--the guide who took us on the tour was interesting. Interesting what the drug money fixed. Panama City was interesting. We again had a good guide, but the city seemed like Cartegena, but without money to fix it up. Lots of potential! Costa Rico and ...

Wonderful ship and crew but too many sea days.

Fort Lauderdale to L.A. Through the Panama Canal. The canal was outstanding and a tic off our bucket list. Everyone should experience this marvel of humankind. This was our 3rd Viking Ocean Cruise. As always the ship and crew were outstanding. So were the lectures and excursions. But, there were simply too many sea days for us. Not really Viking's fault. One port was closed because of Covid ...

Room for improvement

Never been to Panama Canal. This one looked good. However, ship was supposed to get underway at 5PM, but did not get underway 'till 9PM. Made for a shortened time at the first port of call. One of the ports was cancelled. Not enough free time at many of the excursions for shopping. Ship had to do a detour to get a guest medical help and that put us way behind the next port of call and only ...

A cruise without the hassle of air travel

Review for a Caribbean - All Cruise on Viking Orion

We chose this cruise because we could drive to Ft. Lauderdale to embark and disembark, without having to travel by air, especially over the Atlantic Ocean. The embarkation process was streamlined and quick and we were on the ship in minutes of checking-in. Our cabin, a PV-2 Penthouse Veranda, was spotless and tastefully decorated. Being on the port side of the ship, we Staff were remarkably ...

Our First Cruise

We retired in August and took our first cruise in March. We chose Viking because it's adults-only. As a retired teacher, that sounded fantastic! The food was amazing, the shows were fun, and the excursions were educational. The ship was gorgeous and we quickly found "our" spot to relax in the afternoons. We learned that we liked sea days as much as port days. If you enjoy a younger ...

We wanted to learn more, and experience going through the locks. And the bonus was all the wonderful ports we visited! Crew was phenomenal….I was so impressed. Food was delicious (AND plentiful). I visited the spa on 4 different occasions for 4 different services….it was wonderful as well. AND I thought reasonably priced. We enjoyed the thermal spa too….just needed to book a date and time. ...

We originally chose this cruise for a couple of different things one we had wanted to see the key west. That was taken off of the calendar without us being compensated in anyway. Did not like that! The crew working on the boat were wonderful. The excursions were not very well planned. We enjoyed Costa Rica, The excursion in Jamaica was so much fun we so thoroughly enjoyed that. We were taken ...

Awesome cruise experience

We chose Viking because we don’t enjoy large ships with an overwhelming amount of people and activities. The Viking cruise had people closer to our age and the entertainment and programs were suited to our style. We loved the historical programs discussing the background of our ports of call. The food was ample with many selections but not so abundantly available all the time that you felt like ...

We have been long time fans of Norwegian having loved their entertainment as well as their fine dining restaurants. And in recent years they've been throwing in the drink packages which is awesome. So when we wanted to sail the Panama canal I assumed we would do Norwegian again. But then I started researching Viking... We've decided we like balcony staterooms so when I added up what ...

We have always wanted to see the Panama Canal; it was on our "bucket list". This cruse provided the perfect balance of interesting ports, educational experiences and relaxing days at sea. We enjoyed the different restaurants. We especially enjoyed the chef's table. Each night we left having tried something new. I do not drink alcohol, but the servers offered me an excellent alcohol-free wine, ...
