Cruise to paradise - Bangkok to Bali
"Unfortunately, we did not get to experience the entire Jakarta Highlights tour and so missed the main Cathedral and Mosque tour, which we were told were the best parts of the tour by others, because a couple on our tour bus fueled a mutiny and forced the guide and driver to take us back to the ship.Ports: Bangkok: we had 2 days here, but the port is so far away from the city, that it was not easy to arrange transportation and Viking did not provide transportation...."Read More

Review for a Asia Cruise on Viking Orion

My three positives and a negative because the world needs more positivity: + Stunning ship, well thought through with loads of areas to explore, read a book, and relax. We did two back-to-back cruises (for a total of 28 days) and never felt ship claustrophobia + Service-oriented crew that consistently showed how a simple smile can make a day + Little to no up charge pressure. Everything ...

We chose this cruise for the itinerary. Bangkok, Singapore and Bali were places on our bucket list that we wanted to experience. Overall, the cruise was great. We have cruised with Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises many times in the past. We did a river cruise with Viking right before Covid hit, the Rhine Getaway, and was totally blown away by Viking. So, we decided to try their ocean ...

We chose the Orion for the Panama Canal itinerary, especially since it sailed from Ft. Lauderdale to Los Angeles. We enjoyed the historical lectures and the multiple Planetarium events, as well as the Canal Locks informative step by step discussion. The ship was well-appointed with very comfortable seating throughout the ship. Two smallish pools, with one being an infinity pool with the other ...

Panama Canal

We have wanted to pass through the Panama Canal. The actual transit was spectacular. Cozumel was essentially a tourist trap. Cartegena was nice--the guide who took us on the tour was interesting. Interesting what the drug money fixed. Panama City was interesting. We again had a good guide, but the city seemed like Cartegena, but without money to fix it up. Lots of potential! Costa Rico and ...

A good cruise cut short

Overall i like the Viking ocean ships. Clean, crisp norweigian style. Food choices good. Room layout very good. But this review is about my view of the way Viking handled the itinerary debacle caused by the virus. We were merrily headed to Hobart Tasmania when the captain informed us early in the morning while at sea that we were headed on a beeline to the mainland of AUS to get into port ...

Chose this cruise because of the itinerary. Embarkation was kind of chaotic but the disembarkation was very smooth. Viking does not administratively handle single people well. I guest this is not their market. However, more and more people are widowed and traveling alone. Cabin and service was excellent; entertainment and activities were on the low side; dining was good as was expected; ...

Our expectations of Viking have gotten too high?

We have been in love with Viking since our first River Cruise! We've been on 3 Ocean Cruises since. However, our last experience aboard Orion was not up to our expectations: The accommodations at both our pre- and post-tours were beautiful! What we couldn't figure out was why there was such a problem going from the Hotel to the ship. It seemed to be too many people and not enough busses. Why ...

I had always wanted to go to Australia. My husband and I had a great time. Processing to board and disembarkation went very smooth. Our time in Bali before setting sail was at a beautiful resort. The entire crew took such good care of us. We felt so special, the housekeeping staff always remembered our names and the dining experience wonderful with a wide variety of choices. Having our ...

Wonderful Cruise

We choose this cruise because of the pricing and the inclusion of the flight in the price. It was a trip of lifetime made within our reach. Also, Viking is a “no” children cruise line something we prefer. The ship is beautiful (cabin sufficient, clean and comfortable. Loved the sunrise in Sydney from our balcony), food very good (we loved Manfredi’s), shows “cruise ship” entertainment, crew ...

Orion - Beautiful ship and excellent cuisine.

Wall Street Journal had an article about the Bangkok to Bali cruise. Our friends asked us to join them on the cruise to celebrate birthdays. If your birthday falls during the cruise, you may request a special gift. We had a lovely bottle of champagne and a delicious chocolate cake. Everything was great except for the travel arrangements made by Viking. The ship was beautiful with lots of ...
