Never been to Panama Canal. This one looked good. However, ship was supposed to get underway at 5PM, but did not get underway 'till 9PM. Made for a shortened time at the first port of call. One of the ports was cancelled. Not enough free time at many of the excursions for shopping. We wanted to try Viking as we like smaller ships and nice service. Sadly, Viking does not live up to a luxury or premium standard. Passenger to crew ratio is around 2 to 1. Staff in restaurants and bars are over-worked at times if it is busy and service becomes very slow and poor. If not busy, staff are great. Communications on the ship are lacking.
