Viking is known for its impeccable quality in cruises ; they did not disappoint ! Service, food, ship, all excellent. The stateroom was nicely appointed and serviced twice a day. Our room steward was extremely attentive. The bed was firm but comfortable. Dining was very good. Several restaurants to choose from. The world cafe buffet was a bit crowded several nights , but we managed and the ...

This trip was a last minute plan in September, 2023. The draw was a discount fare with free airfare to the Holy Land. My siblings and I decided to sign up The Holy Land visit was cancelled due to the conflict, October, 2023. We agreed to continue with the trip. I received a single rate Was my first Viking Ocean cruise, but a veteran of other cruise lines as well as a Viking River Cruise. I was ...

Very nice cruise. But that's all!

First off, the the cruise was perfect - the cabins, the service, the food, the amenities. The ports were generally nice - to take pictures of from the ship! But if you have trouble walking, forget it! For a cruise line that supposedly caters to the older crowd, there is NO accommodation for the even moderately impaired. Even when a shuttle bus was offered to get into town, it was pitiful ...

Cruise was great, excursions not great

Traveling with friends who had never been to Italy. Previous Viking river cruises were great. This cruise was delayed from 2021 due to cancelation by Viking. In 2021 Viking offered the pre-cruise Rome extension and post-cruise Tuscany extension. That was not an option for 2023, with only Rome and Tuscany offered as a pre-extension. For those considering a Tuscany extension, do it on your own ...

Viking is average on Ocean cruise

First cruise on Viking and probably last. So many details are lacking compared to say Oceania or Azamara. First food is very average… short handed in all dining rooms. If you want another glass of wine you have to go get. Our balcony cabin was very small and very cheap. The closet was so narrow had to turn hangers side ways to close doors.one door stuck all the time. Shower leaked from door. They ...

We are normally Oceania customers and this was our first Viking experience. We specifically chose this cruise for the itinerary and wanted to spend 3 days in the Holy Lands. The onboard experience was good but the excursions were mostly a disaster and we had an issue with the itinerary change mid cruise. Have to say that the ship was comfortable, the crew was very accommodating and we did ...

I chose this cruise as it was on sale. It was off season and I loved that. I thought there was a crowd as we toured but I learned that during the summer there were long lines. We had basically no waiting times and we were never packed in. The extensions with tours in Athens were great. We did almost all the things we wanted to do. In the Rome extension, they did have some things they provided but ...

Great ship, but missed ports and botched disembarkation ruined cruise

We chose this cruise to finally visit the African continent. When we booked, Casablanca and Dakar were scheduled ports. A couple of months before embarkation Dakar, Senegal was changed to Cape Verde. We were disappointed because Cape Verde is a very poor replacement port, but Casablanca was still on schedule. Viking booked us on Lufthansa from Chicago-Frankfurt-Barcelona. Warning-Lufthansa ...

This cruise was to replace a cruise last December when my friend got covid the 2nd day and we were put off the ship 2 days later in Chile for 7 days of quarantine in a seedy hotel and then flown home. No covid for us this time, but because some passengers tested positive we were not able to stop in Casablanca. Too many people did not wear masks in elevators and on busses. The food was a bit ...

Some good, some bad

We have never been on Viking and were anxious to try them. We picked this cruise because it ended in Barcelona. First, managing the pre-cruise was a nitemare. Viking was no help and the system was terrible. They sell out shore excursions to hi-end before balcony cabins have a chance. Help for figuring out covid requirements per country was non existent. On our connection flight we landed to find ...
